I didn't know that was the case. I have amazon student, but I assumed all my returns were free due to it being the seller's/amazon's fault. I only ever return if its noram

No, if you have a problem with the item, it's always on amazon's dime. But if you just change your mind, you have to pay return shipping.
of course, some douchebags just claim it's defective to get the free shipping back, even if it's not. But eventually, amazon gets tired of their act and bans their account.
