Dragon's Lair BluRay Game $19.95 (PS3 or BluRay Players)

Hmm ... I definitely plan on renting this one day but am not sure it's worth $20 to own it given the (in my opinion) low replay value.

Still, the conversion is supposed to have been quite well done and there are lots of special features so that's worth something.

I rented this and it is totally unplayable. Watching the cut scenes was terrible too, it would replay the everything over and over.

Horrible

Good to know...sad to hear, but thanks for the review.

Hate to say it, but this is one situation where the HD-DVD version is actually worth tracking down. It plays a lot better than this version.

Damn...that sucks. I was fired up when I saw they put this and a few other similar Laser Disc games out. I think they have it on DVD to - is the DVD version crappy?

I have the BluRay version, and it plays just fine on the PS3.

And this is coming from someone who has played just about every version ever released :)

I agree, this is the best non PC version released so far.

A couple of notes:
*This version is designed for 16:9 televisions, so scenes are cropped at the top and bottom, however most people won't notice the difference and the picture looks great.

*On the PS3, you can't change the number of lives from unlimited to five, which makes it impossible to see the game over screen. This lessens the difficulty of the game. Apparently this game was programed before the BD-Java standard was finalized, and with very little technical support from the Blu-Ray alliance. It wasn't even tested on the PS3 prior to release, luckily it worked on it pretty well.

With that in mind this release is worth $20, hopefully they will come out with an updated version in the future that will eliminate the flaws.

BTW, Space Ace on Blu Ray will be out in the next week or so, and from what I read, it will performs better than this title.
