Drakensang Complete Saga Amazon $11.86

Pretty niche title. Hard to find good gameplay videos of River of Time which is supposed to be the later title. Anyway, looks a bit like Dragon Age Origins except slower combat. Love to see the spells and such.[/QUOTE]

River of Time never got a US release except for Digital Downloads like Steam and GMG.

So for a physical disc, not too bad.

Cool.
Will keep my eyes peeled, just in case Amazon themselves put it on sale.

I liked Drakensang: The Dark Eye, but never got around to buying River of Time + Philleason DLC.

I watched a lets play of River of Time is it must have been around 15-20 hours in. He naturally didn't have any mages in his party but the characters he did only had 1-2 abilities on the hotbar besides potions.

Im a sucker for character customization and skill choice and thats the big selling point. Does this game allow a nice amount of skills ala DA:O?

Btw, Amazon themselves have it listed for $17. The third party sellers through Amazon are ay the $11.86. I don't have a problem buying if I could locate some information on my concerns.

I agree that RoT is better than the first game so if you liked the first game you will definitely like RoT.

It's got a lot of customization options when you create your character. They have a simple character creation version for people who just want to get started quickly and don't want all the options or you can go to the advanced mode and it's got lots of different options along the lines of creating a character for a D&D game, which makes sense since The Dark Eye is sort of Germany's version of D&D.

I think it's a good balance because it doesn't totally overwhelm newcomers, but you can get really detailed if you want. Most RPGs these days really dumb down the character creation compared to years past but this game is one that really didn't.

Anyone have anything to say about abilities usable?

Abilities like spells, and combat abilities like shield bashes, whirlwind, etc?

Anyone?

It's been ages since I played it but I do remember a fair amount of spells and abilities and what not.

There's some info on it here: http://www.gamebanshee.com/drakensangtheriveroftime/

Check the left side for abilities and talents under character info and then the right side for the individual selections for those for details.

I will say that's not a very action-y feeling game. It feels very much like a turn based game but just run in real time without the pauses. If I have to put a relatively recent game it's most similar to I'd go with Dragon Age Origins.

It's definitely not something with fast paced visceral combat or anything of that sort. It does very much feel like an old style RPG on a lot of respects.

If you want more in dept thoughts on it you might be better going somewhere like the RPGwatch or something like that where a lot of people have played it and probably had a better memory and less of a backlog than I do. :p

Im fine with Dragon Age Origins. Actually one of my favorite games in the past 5 years or so. I just like being a mage in that game and having so many ways to go into a room and lock down groups of enemies with loads of spells. That's what I enjoy.

Edit: Thanks for the information.

what are the system specs on this? Im on an old desktop backup system that im using since my laptop died and not sure if it will run this

also, FYI this seems to be a 3rd party seller not direct through Amazon
