So I saw that the DS Lite fetches $80 in the other thread, good.

I dropped my DSL today (fell out of my pocket, actually), and it chipped the right shoulder button. That's not what's scaring me - there's light coming out of the gaps between the button and the rest of the unit, as if something in the screen got disloged.

ANYWAYS, perfect excuse for me to pick up a black DSL :lol:.

Now I'll have to rebuy Hori Screen Protectors - what's the best deal? I bought them for about $10 shipped off of Decal Girl last time...any better prices?

What is a GOOD carrying case? I don't want some huge case that I can hold 1,000,000 games in, just a small, padded case that maybe fits a few cartridges that will protect my DSL from another such mishap.
 
I'd call before verifying that 80.. GameCrazy gives 65, it may have lowered recently.. (GC and GS usually give pretty similar values)
 
I have the Hori Compact Case and it does the job well. It's small enough to fit in a pocket, nice soft inside, and it has space to store 4 games (2 spots made for DS games plus 1 for a GBA game that comfortably fits 2 DS games).
 
I like the ACL Nintendo-branded play-through case. It would definitely protect your Lite and it looks good, too! Right now I'm holding 8 games in it... I think it would do 9 comfortably but 10 is a stretch.
 
I use the multi-pouch, its very padded and feels silky smooth on the inside. I recently let a guy at school play my DSL, and he got like mud on the back and it went into the cracks. I guess I could buy a black one, but I plan to make a custom shell of metroid.
 
Does it still work? I know with the older DS model, they sold replacement cases (different colors) that you can order from eBay.
 
My son dropped his DS Lite. Broke in a similar place. Called Nintendo and they only charged 50.00 to replace it. I thought that was pretty good of them.

You may want to go down that route.

If the $80 trade-in credit is still in effect he is better off trading it in and getting a black one (that is if they take it).
 
If you're still looking for some Hori Screen Protectors, your local Fry's (if you've got one near you) should carry the US Version. Just call to confirm that they have it in stock before you drive on over there. They should be priced at $6.99.
