DS Backlight question

I just got my DS last night, so sorry if this is a silly question. I noticed when I put a GBA cartridge in (Riviera), that it looked noticably clearer than on my GBA SP. Does the DS have the new bright backlight like the GBA Micro and the "new" SP?

yeah, it does have a backlight... the SP you have prob is one of the originals with a frontlight

Just got one recently as well, was wondering the same thing. The top screen seems to look better than the first generation SP screen... but it seems like it might be a LITTLE less bright/clear compared to the new SP.

The bottom touch screen looks horrible, I think, in comparison to the DS top screen, and the new SP screen. But I just figure that's a way to keep down costs on the TOUCH screen, pricey things typically.

But, umm, yeah, heres another wondering the same thing...

The thick plastic also tends to reduce clarity.

The new SP screens are MUCH better than the DS screens, but the DS screen are MUCH better than the original SP screens, which were, in turn, leaps and bounds better than the original GBA screens.
