DS Homebrews?

I read somewhere about someone trying to make a homebrew/port of the original Wolfenstein 3D for the DS

I was wondering if anyone's ever tried any of these ports/homebrew projects and...well...if they're legal or easy to do.

I think the hard part about DS homebrew is the entry. I still haven't found any place willing to sell me a DS flashcart for last 2 weeks.
