yesasia.com (or us.yesasia.com if you live in US) is selling DS Lites (Japanese models) for 199.99, which include the Enamel Navy and Ice Blue if you can't wait.

If you use the coupon code
NDSLITE10 you can save $10 dollars, for a total of 189.99. Also, yesasia will be offering free shipping for orders over $25 dollars (until June 30th). The page also says that Express Shipping will be provided on all DS Lite orders at no extra charge.

If you find anything cheaper for DS imports just let us know. I wouldn't want to be wasting any of your guys' money.

I actually noticed this deal just a couple days ago (I'm looking for a navy DS, and am starting to think it may never come out in the US, in favor of the black from the UK). I've so far managed to hold off, against my better desires. There's a couple reasons; maybe people here can help decide?...

1) YesAsia does not allow returns or exchanges of video game hardware. If my lite came with a dead pixel I would cry. Nintendo of America won't fix a Japanese model, will they? What about Nintendo Japan accepting a shipment from the US? Is this even common enough to worry about?

2) I'm wondering if prices at any online import shops or eBay will drop after the white US lite is readily available. The YesAsia coupon is good til the end of the month. Anyone think it might be worth the wait?

Yes, absolutely. You always pay a premium to get a system early. The prices will definitely drop after the US release - YesAsia (+ other import shops) might not drop theirs right away, but certainly in the next few months it will come down.

man, it just BUGS me that Nintendo opted not to release the black DSL in the States. personally, i'm not fond of the Ipod look to begin with, and white just really brings the image all the way home. I like the black systems, 'cause they remind me of my Genesis and TurboExpress!

if it wasn't gonna be my first DS, i'd just wait, but since i'm so eager to get my hands on it, i'll have to deal with that sour cream compact. at least the games play the same!:roll:;)

Are you sure? Maybe I'm just misreading what it says on the site, but it seems like they only prohibit the returning of defective video game software, not hardware. I'm maybe going to call them to make sure.

Black ones go to Europe First
I dunno, but a 60 dollar premium for a different color is kinda excessive. That's 2 games you could buy instead.
i would go as far as saying you could get 3- 4 games (metroid pinball, tony hawk american sk8land are both twenty at CC or bestbuy.. and Bust a Move is 20 at TRU)

correct.

i wonder if i drive on the left side of the road for a week, there'll be a black DS Lite under my pillow in the morning.

I considered buying one of these but eventually talked myself out of it. $80 for a different color is just nutty to me. And I didn't want to think about the hoops I'd have to jump through if there was any problem with the product.

I ended up buying a USA one yesterday, and have to say, I'm more impressed than I thought I would be with it. It's very nice looking in white. Yes, it'll suck to some degree when they release other colors here, but if they do and I feel really strongly about it, I can sell the white one and buy a new one.

I made up for it by ordering a case from Play-Asia.com. I've never seen a decent Nintendo case here in the USA.

On the DS lite page under "shipping note" it says "This product cannot be cancelled or returned after the order has been placed." One of the customer reviews mentioned it as well.

I'm well aware that I'll be paying $60 extra for a colour, but I have my reasons. Heck, I took apart my old DS to paint it navy before the lite was announced. The DS is worth it.
