DS Lite---Touch Screen Grid?

So I'm playing Ouendan on my DS Lite and I saw something on the bottom screen.

When the intro of the characters load up on the bottom screen I can see dots that are grid like on the bottom screen. It only happens when the background is red, I'll see black dots. When it shows the characters shadow (which is black), I see small red dots. Is this normal? I don't notice it any other time on the DS games I've played so far, just on the short intro of the Ouendan levels.

Also it seems to only happen with this game so far. The red backgounds in Viewtiful Joe DS, don't cause the black spots to show up. It's weird.

Thanks!

There is indeed a grid of dots on the touch screen. My old DS has that. I have heard that SOME do not have that visible grid.

So it's not normal?

I am not holding the DS at an angle. Looking straight at the screen and the dots show up during those Ouendan intros. Their silhouettes show up on the bottom screen (which are black) and I see red grid dots inside of those silhouettes.

I'm still confused :)
It is normal, nothing is defective. The dots are the "sensors" of the screen, if you will.
thanks.

it only shows up on that particular scene. haven't had that problem on the other games I've played, which is odd. I won't bother exchanging it for a new one then :)

The couple of DS' that I've used had that grid... it's like there must be a certain color combination to SEE the grid. It's strange... but it makes sense that there'd be SOME SORT of grid on the touch screen to facilitate it's ability to recognize physical input.

Try calling up Nintendo support and see what they think about it. Might be defective.

There is a visible grid on the DSL in the correct light. The original DS also had this grid screen(even more visible). There were actually two different DSphat screens the grid one and a grainy one (no visible grid but the image is a bit grainy). The DSL feels like a combination of both.

It's commonly thought that there are two types of touch screens used in the production of the DS (and evidently also, the DS Lite). One has a screen that looks grainy and the other is clearer and is identified by the dotted grid. It's believed the grainy screen has better sensitivity, but I don't know if this is true.

There's a FAQ about the grainy vs. grid issue on gamefaqs if you'd like to read more about it.

Basically, it's perfectly normal and most people prefer your screen due to the clarity.

Do you have a link to the FAQ? I've always had the grainy one and IMO, it detracted from the system a bit. I always disliked having the top screen look a LOT better than the bottom screen. I'm surprised and somewhat dissapointed that major news publications like EGM, IGN, etc. haven't had some indepth reports on this issue.
