DS N00b: Dead Pixel

I think I'm going to wait for a decent bundle on the DS Lite. Hopefully by then the chances of a stuck pixel (or that strange clicking) will be lower.

Btw- I took back the dead pixel DS Lite to Target- no questions asked. As far as I'm concerned, this is another reason not to buy hardware at EB or GS.

I wish I had a camera for when my dad and I helped my younger brother EXCHANGE his 2 day old DSLite to EBGames over a dead pixel, it was smack center of the touch screen.

"Sorry, it has to be 10% of the screen...and besides, its not defective." - Clerk

I said "Well, considering MY DSLite doesn't have this issue, I'd say this IS defective"

We spent 15 min with this douche bag explaining to us the concept of LCD technology and how its "Normal" and wasn't his problem and that we couldn't exchange it because it was opened (This made no sense). They had a billion of them in stock and all he had to do was swap it out, 5 min and goodbye.

In the end he DID exchange it for us out of, and I quote, "I am doing this out of courtesy"

Hey douche bag....F you. :bomb:

Needless to say, we have an active boycott of both stores in effect, I've shopped with these morons for over 20 years and I'm officially done (Once I use my $70 DS trade in voucher from GameSlop anyway). There is no point in preordering hardware from these idiots anyway, as a matter of fact I can't think of ANY hardware I've even purchased from them. Hell these days even purchasing software from them is pathetic as 90% of their stock is preowned crap.

I managed to get my DSLite during the "Target breaks street date" fiasco and its a perfect system with no problems, but seriously, not only do I have 90 days to return it for an exchange or even a refund...I won't get any BS over it either.

I really wish this had happened before we had recorded the last episode of DualScreenRadio, we had an hour long rant "Editorial" on the GameSlop/EB business model and how it sucks.

Burping this baby because I really want to know before buying one this holiday.

Any recent purchases to report and whether the dead pixel(s) issue has gotten any better? Are the Onyx more likely to have this problem because of a particular manufacturing plant, or just rumor?

OT: The two different touch screens. Any links to this other nitpick?

I have a dead pixel from a DS Lite I bought back in June. It is dead center of the top screen and it is really annoying. I spent 5 minutes on the phone with a Nintendo CSR and they sent me a prepaid UPS envelope to send in my system with. They said I should expect a 8-10 day turnaround and it will be as good as new! These things come with a 1 year warranty for stuff like this so I wouldn't even worry about it...

I finally noticed that I have two stuck pixels on the bottom screen. They're pretty tiny, and I only notice them if I have the lights low and the DS is on a completely black screen. So I've decided not to bother with it for now.

Are they going to fix it or send you a new one (same color, or their choice?).

My SP 2 has a stuck blue one near center and it bugs only when there's a dark/black background. Nothing else was wrong with it so I never contacted NOA for fear of getting a refurbished one (do they even do that?) that's just not the same.

Sounds like the few minutes on the phone was pretty painless. I assume they didn't charge the $5 shipping someone mentioned before if it's prepaid.

Guess I'm OCD'ing for no reason since I could luck out and buy one with all pixels intact. And if not, it can be replaced rather easily. Just won't put any screen protectors on until it's checked out OK.

Now if I could only find a DSL deal first.

I've had problems with stuck pixels too on my lite. I sent mine in to nintendo for repair, where they assured me I wouldn't get a replacement system with any problems because they check them. Got a system yesterday, and what do you know, a blue stick pixel on the bottom screen. I decided I'll just keep the system, and maybe one day the pixel will unstick itself. Do you guys know if that is common?
