with the DS lite going to be $130 , are people who already have the DS goingto stick to it or jump in and upgrade to the lite? icne ive never had a DS even, ho much lower do u expect it to drop over the nex couple m onths. i'm tempted to get the $100 deal from TRU. wht was original gba sp price when it came out? right now most places are selling it for $80 or so. so is the battey life nd brighter screen worth it for the ds lite and $30 more?

I ended up imported a DS Lite about a month ago, and i don't regret it one bit..

From the beginning i hate hate hated that big fat DS.. Just one look at that thing turned me off. It was huge. The xbox of the recent handheld world. I couldn't stick that thing in my pocket, or even hold it comfortably.

I still wanted one since there were several DS games that are simply magnificient.. It was a love/hate relationship. So i borrowed my friends' DS's every now and then.

Then the news of the DS Lite surfaced and i was in love. The DS Lite solved this retarded oversized handheld issue in one fail swoop. Though because of the money to import such a thing, i didn't jump in the boat too quickly.

After budgeting around money, i decided to jump on the second release of the DS Lite in Japan, and spent $220 overall. Man... when the UPS guy knocked on the door that morning, i immediately hopped out of bed. NINTNEDO SIXTY FOOOOOOUUURRRRR!!

Honestly, the DS Lite is a beautiful sexy looking machine that i don't regret paying $90 extra dollars to get it 2 months ahead of time. Plus i got the Enamel Blue one, so i'll still be l33t for a little while longer.

It's not without it's troubles though.. The DS Lite is a magnet for finger-prints because of its shiny surface. also, GBA carts stick out of the slot rather than being flush as with the GBA SP and DS Fat. These both really annoyed me at first, but i don't really care about that anymore.

After playing through Castlevania and Phoenix Wright, i am perfectly happy with this little machine. ^_^

uh... so anyways, personally, i feel the decision is a very simple one. $130 is an enormous steal for the DS Lite. You may be considering whether or not to get one, but by the time you make that decision, you won't be able to find them anywhere...

I will be keeping my DS for a while. I'm not a big fan of white (not that the color really matters that much to me... silver is boring but I'm fine with my DS). If I can get my fiancee hooked on some DS games to the point where it becomes necessary for us to have two of them, then I will bite and give mine to her, but I don't see that happening. Generally I don't "upgrade" unless there's something wrong with what I have. Case in point, I have a 7 year old desktop PC.

My 3.5-year-old daughter has stolen my DS from me, which I was intending to trade in towards a DSL. She loves to play the "balloon game" (Kirby's Canvas Curse) and the "puppy game" (Nintendogs). She also tries the "numbers game" (Brain Age), which has resulted in a few 80-year-old results in my name. My wife sees how much fun she has with it, so it's not a problem to upgrade. I'm not the biggest fan of white electronics, but I can't wait to play on those new screens!

I'd say the new screens are worth getting the Lite. The new size is also a plus I'm sure. I have 2 DS's right now and I'll probably sell one for a lite.
The price is right for the lite, its screens are so bright!
Sir, you are right. I will buy the lite! Your logic, I can't fight. The lite will be oh so tight.

The only thing holding me back is that I have big hands and the DS is already a bit small and gets cramped for me after playing for awhile. I'm going to have to try a Lite out before I switch. I've never had trouble with the brightness of the screens. But knowing that the Lite does have brighter screens kind of annoys me.

Also, I kind of like having my Mario Kart DS. Makes me feel special. In the extra-few-bucks-on-Ebay type of way special.
