DS vs. the PSP (A graphical discussion)

I'm not Sony or Nintendo Fan boy... I do own both and see both side of the view...

PSP define kicks DS outta the water w/ graphic....
but graphic don't win wars, gameply wins... and Nintendo knows all about that...

Even Tho both handheld will have their share of Graphic impressed software.... "I'll admit The hunter Demo was pretty impressive" But in the end Gameplay will matter...

Just look back to the past when the standard Gameboy vs. GameGear... the gamegear was way a head of the Gameboy in graphic... but the gameboy won by huge huge margin in sales.

Many people fear that the DS will be in trouble, because the PSP is more advance in the graphic department... But I feel it's the other way around... DS aimed more torwards the average consumer w/ their marketing & pricing... I mean which parents would buy their kids a $250 handheld to be taken to school just to get lost. I'm sure not.

I hope both system will do well, and that means more great game for us hard-core gamer to enjoy :)

I think it's obvious PSP has better graphics. But I'm kinda disappointed that neither company has really announced a 'great' lineup of games.

EDIT: WTF I posted this at 3:30 PM but it stuck my post in between a bunch of previous ones.

It kind of makes me wonder what the PSP 2 will be like. I mean if were this close to PS2 graphics now how long until we are at portable PS3 graphics? Maybe they'll just bypass all of that and have on screen characters grab you by the throat and attack you. Or maybe the person standing next to you is actually a video game character.
Hence Nintendo's stance with the Revolution. How much better can graphics get? The improvements are less noticable with each generation, so we can't rely on graphics forever.
THe difference between this generation and the one before is huge. There may have been some games, especially early on in the PS2's career, that made poor use of the hardware, especially if they were projects that started on the previous generation and got shifted to the newer platforms after delays made the original uviable. That aside, the difference between the best of the previous generation and the merely good of this generation is immediately discernable.

If you think there isn't any farther to go with graphics, go check out demos for the latest video cards. It won't take long into the next generation for the best of current consoles games to appear old and primitive.

After seeing both in action now, the gap in graphics between the DS and the PSP is unfreaking-believable. The PSP makes the DS graphics look very simplistic. I don't think you can realize how good the graphics on the PSP are until you actually have one in your hands.

I haven't seen a PSP yet, but from the screenshots I've seen it really seems to blow the DS out of the water. Will the graphics get much better? Wouldn't better graphics cause the GPUs to work harder/longer, which would mean less play time?
Who values graphics the most? Its not the hardcore... its the mainstream. ITs the "normal" gamers... ie not us.
Sony is trying to bring hardcore gaming to the mainstream. Hence those spaztastic commercials they put out.

'Mainstream' people didn't have any desire whatsoever for a 20 gig+ Mp3 player until the Ipod came out. Sony will pull a definite IPod-like coup with their machine.
