I just bought a DSi a few days ago and the first thing I noticed that was different from my DSlite was that the touchscreen had sort of a texture on it. Not all of it but in most places. It kind of seems rough. I've tried the same stylus on my DSi and DSlite and the DSi is vastly more rought compared to my DSlite. I took it back to gamestop and the manager said that a few other people have mentioned it but they wouldn't give me anotehr one, claiming that thats the way the are and its not a faulty device. Ok, so i go home today and google the shit out of it and it seems to be a common problem, but a lot of people also report not having any roughness on their screen.

Anyone else have this problem. I've ordered some screen protectors, from playasia (hori), which everyone says fixes the issue. And since I was going to buy them from the start its not really an issue in a few days.

also on a side note, I came into some DSlite screen protectors. I was given them from a friend. they were new and wrapped, and I decided to open them up and check em out today and they are blue. Like light blue and I placed them half-way over my ds screen and the alter the color a bit, very slightly. Are these fake? or what? I youtubed it and both the fake ones and the real ones are clear, wtf do I have?

nvm their fake, good thing I never used them. But they look convincing. They are exactly like the real ones, even have that yellow tab in the middle, but the real ones have a clear plastic sheet not a blue one, which is what it was. it wasnt the actually filter. But other signs point to fake.

The only true fake screen protector is a slice of Velveeta Cheese.

They'll all work, just in varying degrees. The knock-off Hori's from DX for $1 used to be same/better than true Hori, now they're getting really bad reviews, getting easily scratched up very quickly. I've had my fake ones on my DSLite for at least a year now and it's still great, I'm actually afraid to replace it in case I get a bad batch version...

I didn't notice that problem, but it wasn't long before I put on Hori screen protectors. I might just not have noticed it?

i got a batch of the olds ones, and they scratch very easily, but it really only gets a lot of scratches when i play ouendan or kirby canvas curse, something that requires a lot of motion on the touch screen. but for $1 i guess i cant complain much. i mean after all its to prevent the screen from collecting dust and scratching, so i guess its doing the job.

I got what the OP says he felt with his DSi screen when i first got mine. after about a week though, it went away. It kind of felt like there was sand under the screen if you could imagine that.

yeah, exactly. Its weird because I cant see any visual signs of it. Not scratches or tiny bumps, its odd.

Anyway I ordered the Hori protectors from Amazon instead, as it'll come faster that way and I trust amazon as much as playasia.

Got my 2nd screen protector, another fake, gah. I give up. The two fake ones i had weren't even good ones, they didnt even cover the whole screen and weren't cut at 90 degree angles so the bottom side was at an angle.

I did however fix the problem, I just used a q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol. I figured there was just some film or something from manufacturing on the screen. Fixed it right up, smooth as it can now. I also did this on my DS lite, smoothed that screen up as well.

Just get invisible shield. It's more money, but you get a lifetime warranty, it's real, and you won't have anymore issues.
