Duke Nukem Forever: Balls of Steel Edition announced

I hope it's actually released this time... The 13 year old in me wants it.

I assumed that would be available separately. There's no way they'd feature it that prominently and not offer it. ;)

I think we're way past the point where this wouldn't come out. So you can put that one fear to rest.

It's been far too long for me to take any Duke Nukem Forever release date seriously.

I'll believe it's out when I have the Duke Nukem Forever: Balls of Steel Edition in my hands.

Not sure if I want to spend 99.99 bucks on this but, the bust looks really cool! Plus, I would be interested in the art book as well.

Decisions decisions......

Pre ordered it. I think this should be on the front page. I also read that it was in limited supply. But I know we have all heard that before. Looks to be overpriced like all CE are but colmpared to say, God OF War III at the same price, I would say this is a steal. Hoping the 100-page hardcover book: The History, Legacy & Legend: Duke Nukem Forever Art from the Vault is good. Would have liked a making of DVD though.

They should delay it one more time for old times' sake.

Interested in the game but the CE doesn't have anything great. I rather plushies over statues and paper goods (books, cards, posters) aren't much to get excited over. $90 for 2 dice and 2 poker chips isn't quite a deal.

It seems like everything comes in a CE anymore. The only recent one that was good enough was LBP2.

Yeah there's a lot of stuff, but a poker chip and cards? Ehh. Needs more crazy shit, like :

Duke condoms
A Duke urinal cake
Duke sunglasses
Bottle of Duke beer (OK, concerned moms, it can be an empty bottle)
One of those handheld thingies that says random Duke quotes

I was hoping it would have cooler stuff in it. I really think duke deserves a better CE than this. Its basically just the same old shit card, a comic, a art book, some poker chips, a sticker blah blah blah. I dont even like that stuff in a 69 dollar CE let alone a 99 dollar one. I mean the bust is kind of cool but its not even in color, Id rather have had a neat figure.

I mean this is duke after all. The classic character and after all his game has been through for over the past decade and how crazy and decadant he is supposed to be this is a pretty tame excuse for a special edition for him.

Ive just gotten sick of so called CE coming out all the time with poker chips, artbooks and the same old boring shit in em.

I'm as sick of cards and poker chips as the next guy, but in this case they make sense. More sense than any other CE I can think of.

What's cool about this is these are like trinkets from his world. You start off in his casino (I think, haven't played the demo). So themed cards/chips/dice all show off Duke's celebrity. As do the really funny postcards.

And the bust...isn't supposed to be in color. LOL. If you wanted a tiny bust of Duke, I get ya. But this is supposed to be like a statue of a Greek god (notice the "Carpe Nukem" inscription?). Again, showing cheesy reverence of Duke in his world.

As a set, it works. :)

I like how a few other people made it sound like this stuff costs $90 (as if the game were free!). Realistically the CE contents cost an extra $40. That's not going to be worth it to some fans. I'm waiting on a better picture of the bust and more about the artbook before I decide.

Do you have any idea how many DVDs "Making of Duke Nukem Forever" would fill?

Did we get different versions of the LBP 2 CE or something? I thought that the plush Sackboy in it looked like it was put together by a cross-eyed sweat shop worker and the 'game ends/bookends' felt cheap and light for the added money.

The only LE/CE/SE versions of games that have been even half worth it so far imo have been the following:

Bioshock 2 LE-(hardcover artbook, vinyl LP version sound track, CD version soundtrack, posters w/ black light messages on them)

Grand Theft Auto IV SE-(real metal lockbox w/ keys, dufflebag they charge $20+ for from the R* website, soundtrack cd sampler of 15 or so tracks, R* keychain and a somewhat abysmal anorexic looking artbook)

God Of War III Ultimate Edition(European version)-(God Of War Collection, physical CDs/DVD's for the shit we got DLC vouchers for in the US version)

Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunters Edition(Naughty Dog limited edition giveaway version to contest winners)-(Replica of the Phurba dagger from the game with display stand, artbook, collector case signed by the ND team)

Otherwise most LE/SE/CE versions of games are way overprinted and end up eventually dropping in price to a more reasonable amount anyway.

I was kinda excited about this CE, it looked like a whole bunch of cool stuff after glancing at the picture quick. After zooming in and really checking out the stuff, I think I'm going to pass on this one. Those playing cards are mini cards btw...lol Who the hell uses mini cards?

Midgets?

I put in a placeholder order for the PS3 BoS edition. I really want the game on 360, but I'm just going to have to decide how much I want the extras.

Not happy that I dropped the (not a pun) ball on the 360 version. Would've made things a lot easier.

I can't believe that they sold out so quickly. Amazon doesn't even have the PS3 version available anymore!

I ended up ordering the PS3 version too, but I kind of was already leaning that way. If you want the 360 version, GameStop.com is still taking pre-orders.

Wow, glad I got the order in, then. Thanks for the GS tip, but I've been burned by them too many times.

Worst case scenario, I just get the regular for 360 and get the SE for PS3. Not the cheapass route, but c'mon... it's Duke Nukem Forever. Special circumstances and all that.

Seeing the MvC3 thread and how that came back in stock, I'm curious to see if Amazon tosses more of these out into the wild at some point. I'd like to believe that this is actually limited, but that's too naive even for me.

Well, on the Gearbox boards Joe Siegler (ex-3D Realms/current Gearbox employee) said that Amazon is totally sold out on all three platforms. If that holds true, then it doesn't look like it's coming back. Which really sucks for those who wanted it, but I'm sure a few people will cancel their pre-orders from now until May.

That's how I feel about GameStop.com too. I just didn't feel comfortable buying it from them, so Amazon was the only way for me to go. Still, anyone who wants it can still get it there.
-----------

For Canadians, Amazon.ca is the exclusive retailer of the Duke Nukem Forever: Balls of Steel Edition. The PC Version sold out in less than a day.
Hmm, Gamestop website doesn't say anything about the bonus DLC. (What exactly is an in-game ego boost anyway?)
instead of him saying "I've got balls of steel" he says "I've got sweaty balls of steel"

not worth it imo

....lol

I preordered one, I think it's a pretty cool collector's edition. Its a little over priced but its has way more stuff compared to other collectors edition's such as the Halo 3 legendary edition which was way overpriced and had nothing worth getting other than that helmet.
