If supply is low and demand is high, and someone is willing to pay $7-8, there's nothing wrong with charging that much. Personally if there is a movie I want, I have a hard time paying more than $4-5 for it, but from time to time I have. I usually just wait a week or two and the market gets flooded and prices drop.

I agree with the exorbitant price sentiment, as prices have gotten way out of hand. But as people have said, you can't control that. Just don't buy them. Simple as that.
I will say, however, that people charging $15 for the uv codes to the new Disney two packs (Lilo and Stitch and Fox and the Hound) when the blurays themselves are $15 complete should be ashamed of themselves. Gas and availability are BS reasons. Get real.

Exactly this. Sure it sucks prices are high, but this is a free market, there is no MSRP. Sellers set their own prices and buyers choose to pay or not. If no one buys it and the seller still wants to sell it, they will need to lower the price or have it remain unsold.
Complaining that it is unfair just makes someone look like they are upset that things aren't the way they want or think is fair and it seems somewhat whiny IMO.
The main reason code prices are going up is more and more people are buying codes from sellers and not going to the stores to buy the physical movie. So supply is technically going down (or staying the same potentially) but demand is going up. When that happens prices go up. Just the way business/money/sales work.

Exactly this. Sure it sucks prices are high, but this is a free market, there is no MSRP. Sellers set their own prices and buyers choose to pay or not. If no one buys it and the seller still wants to sell it, they will need to lower the price or have it remain unsold.
Complaining that it is unfair just makes someone look like they are upset that things aren't the way they want or think is fair and it seems somewhat whiny IMO.
The main reason code prices are going up is more and more people are buying codes from sellers and not going to the stores to buy the physical movie. So supply is technically going down (or staying the same potentially) but demand is going up. When that happens prices go up. Just the way business/money/sales work.
Thats not really true just cause the demands goes up doesn't mean the prices have to go up. lets take the switch nintendo sells the switch for 299.99 and even with the demand for it they don't raise there prices. the only reason the prices are high cause scalpers are increasing the price for profit. so greed is the driving force for the higher price. but lets be honest some these people are not paying nothing for the codes they are either given stolen or they got them with there movie. but it doesn't matter don't like the price don't buy it.
