Dvd/game storage shelving

FYE has some very nice looking shelves for dvds and games I got a nice one that holds around 200 cases for about 20 bucks.

I have this:

it cost $19.99 at wal-mart. Sauder has a mail-in-rebate for $10.00 off $99 or less, found here:

i like this case. i'm going to get another one before the rebate expires. it's actually feels kind of durable and is a nice black color.

that looks like a really nice shelf. I know it's YMMV, but do you remember in which section it was located? I've been kinda passively looking for one but the only furniture I saw at the wal-marts I visited recently were big, bulky, expensive office furniture and shelving. their DVD storage items were located in the media department in the same aisle as xbox games but they were all crappy, smaller, plastic or metal(wire) type shelving.

I got it with the rest of the furniture in that section. i really like it. the wood is sturdy (not that dvds would make it bend but i bought a sauder bookcase and the books bent the wood). This is it right here

it should be in the furniture section.

I have a massive media collection, and I'm in the process of sorting everything. I've been buying the FYE media shelves for 30 bucks each. They're five shelves and they hold about 265 dvd's each (can't remember what the box says, I just counted one shelf and multiplied by 5). They did have a sale recently where they were 20 bucks a piece. I didn't know about the sale until I found a store with a 20 dollar sale price tag that they never removed, so maybe some stores still have the sale tags on them.

They're not great looking, so if you only need one or two you may want to move up into a higher price range. They're made of cheap wood, and the structure is very minimal, but you don't really see much but the dvd's and games when the shelves are actually in use (it sort of blends in with everything and doesn't look cheap anymore). I have 9 of them and need to buy 2 or 3 more. They're far cheaper than anything else I could find, since I would have needed to pay about twice as much for anything nicer. I just kept using store credit to buy them.

I'm planning on using this closet that hides piping in the back of it as a lil DVD rack, I will be building it too. I suggest if you don't care about staining it (or don't want to go through proper staining) you should build one on your own.

I'm sure you know this, but make sure that no water comes through those pipes. just a little bit of moisture can ruin your entire collection.

I found a really cheap, nice DVD shelf on sale at Target so you may want to check that out. Im not one to spend a lot on something so simple. IKEA might be a good way to go, too, if you have one in town.

I remember there was someone who had this awesome picture of their collection in their sig along with a link to the site where you could find the DVD shelves. They were wall mounted. I lost the link, anyone know what I'm talking about?

I'm looking for something that locks, to keep my baby boy out because he opens the cases and can pull DVD's/games out. I've seen one at Best Buy, but was hoping anyone else could point me to something nicer. By the way here's a link to Ikea's media storage: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=12&catalogId=10103&langId=-1&topcategoryId=15561&parentCats=15561*15641*15963&categoryId=15963&cattype=sub

Edit: Nevermind, I found this: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15561&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=42065&langId=-1&parentCats=15561*15641*15963 I guess I could always try to find a latch or some sort of child proof cabinet locks. Nice price, too.

If you want really fancy stuff you have to get Boltz furniture located here: http://www.boltz.com/showitems.asp?deptcode1=501 This stuff looks crazy cool and modern and is for serious collector's. Kind of pricey, but if you're in no rush they have deals fairly often if you sign up for their newsletter or updates offer.
