CAGiversary!
ok i'm saving up for a HD tv well i don't need help with that. what i do is the DVD player now should i get a DVD player that is a HD upgrader that when u put a regular dvd in it, it makes it a better picture and looks HD or blu-ray.
only problem with blu-ray is i don't have the money for one and if i get one which is better a regular blu-ray dvd play or ps3?
thanks
and by the way i'm gonna buy all my stuff on black friday. so help

I'm actually in the same boat with the person who started this topic. I'm going to be buying a 42 inch Samsung HDTV within the next 3-4 months. But I also want to get a Blu-Ray DVD player (even though the current Samsung I have now is perfectly fine and in excellent condition. Got it in 2002). I'm on the fence on the DVD player. Will the difference be that big to make a $350 purchase like that? Is a clearer picture really worth that much?

My friends have told me that the bigger your TV, the bigger the difference you'll see between HD and standard DVDs, which is why I'm buying a 42 inch instead of a 37 inch. I don't know that statement is, but by the responses in this thread, it seems to be true?

Bigger the TV and the closer you sit the more noticeable the difference for sure.

Like I said multiple times, to me it wasn't worth $300-350 for a BR player but it's definitely worth it for the $150 Black Friday price I paid.

So I'd just keep watch for deals. I'm sure there will be more between now and Christmas.

Got my Sony BDP-S350 yesterday and tried it out today.

The Incredible Hulk from Netflix wouldn't play. Had to eject and reload it several times to get it load at all, was playing ok then froze around 43 mintues in and froze at that point every time.

I ran to target to pick up some stuff and bought Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2. Both loaded fine and I watched Volume 1 with no problems, so I guess it was just a bad disc from netflix (though it has no scratches, fingerprints etc). That or the player just doesn't like discs with BD live or U Control despite upgrading the firmware. Hopefully the former. Requested a replacement disc from Netflix which I should get Saturday and hopefully it will play fine.

Anyway, I was very impressed with the picture quality. Also, I was amazingly impressed with the sound. I didn't expect to hear a difference on my old and pretty cheap 5.1 set up but it was noticeably clearer than DVD.
