So the big three announced their conference dates:
Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have all scheduled media briefing dates and times for E3 2009. As usual, Microsoft jumps in first, kicking the affair off on June 1 (the day before E3) at 10:30AM PDT. On June 2, Nintendo waggles to stage at 9:00AM PDT, followed by Sony at 11:00AM PDT.
Would anyone care to predict what is shown? (And any other company predictions)

I'll start-
Microsoft: No Gears or Halo announcements. Lionheads new game will be teased.
Sony: New game from Team Nico will be shown. More God of War 3 footage. And that big mmo SOCOM game shown
Nintendo: Expect them to still focus on casual - may show a new Mario game

Anyone else?

Microsoft: Continue to maneuver the 360 into a casual gaming machine. Maybe 1-2 new titles announced; but given that MS doesn't like to announce games more than ~10 months before launch, I'm not holding my breath. Unless MS is really holding their cards close to their chest.

Which makes me wonder why nothing substantive wasn't announced during this GDC, ala GoW 2 and Fable 2 like last year.

Sony: What DarkNessBear said, along with a PS3 price drop of >=$50, PS2 price drop to $100, and a new model for the PSP.

Nintendo: Press briefing cures my insomnia for a day and makes my regret for buying a Wii grow deeper.
Uncharted 2 news

New Modern warfare 2 trailer

One can hope.
Oh yea, I forgot about Modern Warfare 2. But, since they just 'teased' it I don't think they'll be blowing their load so prematurely.

You know what, I take that back I think Microsoft will show some footage at their press conference. I mean it is 2 months away.

Microsoft
- Resident Evil 5 coming to Xbox 360
its already out and the 360 has its own "Resident evil" SKU thats red and comes with the game.
Yakuza 3 coming to the US.

I can dream...right?
DREAMING WITH U MAN I WOULD KICK myself in th BALLZ IF DONT

Microsoft: Like last year shows what will be coming out this year but not too much of 2010
Sony: I'm expecting a lot of new games coming from Japan and lots of original PSN (honestly I have no idea what the hell they will do)
Nintendo: 90% casual, 10% hardcore franchises that are already established

Sony will show off some new projects no one has heard of, also will unveil Syphon Filter for PS3. They will likely show the PS2 emulation on every PS3 model. Eyepet to be shown likely. Lots of the usual stuff like GOW3, uncharted 2, but i know for sure a lot of great surprises are in order. No clue if a new PSP will be announced at E3, but considering sales go up everytime they release one, might as well! New PS3 colors also a possibility.

Microsoft will finally bring its a-game to E3, they will show a lot of new stuff people have been wanting (KI3!!!), but the problem will be that most of the new stuff is just re-hashes of the older stuff. It will keep 360 owners on board but not do much to attract new 360 owners. New waggle controller demo'd on stage as being officially certified for the 360 along with 2-4 games confirmed to use the controller.

Nintendo will actually be the best show to watch for. Ive heard round the grapevine that Nintendo about 4 or so months ago, moneyhatted almost every major japanese studio, along with all the major western studios for major top end content. Expect huge things from iwata. Remember, i hate the wii and what its done to gaming, but i know nintendo actually stepped up this time and made a real effort. Expect big things. However, with all that said, they will still be last place when it comes to quality software. 360/ps3 have it beat from now till forever imo.

I also expect lots of arcade fighters to hit Wiiware this year.

I expect general disappointment.

Although markman's words have me intrigued.

I demand Namco vs capcom vs snk vs marvel vs tatsunoko vs something crazy!

VS ALIENS!

100%, the joke went over your head

I'm going to be curious as to what Sony/Microsoft will do at the conference to try to one up each other as the "owners" of Final Fantasy.

Also, I pray MS doesn't focus completely on the casual games and the shitty peripherals this time. I'd even settle for JRPG talk.

And for Sony, I just want to see lots of Uncharted 2 and GoW3 .. and some Team Ico news.
100%, the joke went over your head
The jokes not funny if you have to explain it.

If the rumors are true, then Nintendo will not disappoint like last year and the "hardcore" will be very, very happy. Well, the Nintendo faithful among them will be.

If Nintendo doesn't show a Wii Zelda at E3, they have been squandering their time.
fighting game fans will be pleased
We get Melee with online play? :p

I don't expect much from the big three I'm keeping my four eyes in the direction of Blizzard

Starcraft 2/Diablo 3 dates or more gameplay plox

Warcraft 4 ftw btw
I expect general disappointment.
I don't have anything I'm really wanting to see other than a PS3 price drop. Please, Sony!
fighting game fans will be pleased
As if they aren't already. We got
- New KOF this year
- New SF this year
- New Tekken (or as my friend calls it, Dickin)
- Blazblue US release

Can't really ask for more. Though I'm hoping Capcom announced T.Hawk and Dee Jay DLC soon. I can't wait to defend my casino homeland with T.Hawk.

Microsoft - Announces little to nothing. Scene It 3? XBox Lite? Forza 3 and the new PGR? Halo ODST date with price?
Sony - PS3 price drop, PSP2
Nintendo - Announces Wii Sex for the Mature audience.

Nintendo -
- DSi download service in full swing by releasing a chunk of their older library.
- Functionality to share a Virtual Console game on your Wii/DSi
- Some sort of casual painting game - remake of Mario Paint? Paint and manipulate a picture you have taken on your DSi on your Wii, send it to your friends.
- Mario golf
- A new Star fox franchise based game
- No Zelda
- new Wi color(s)

Microsoft -
- New secret Bungie Game teased (no gameplay)
- Some sort of motion / movement adapter / peripheral for your 360
- A new physical redesign of the 360 (hopefully one that is more reliable)
- slot loading DVD tray
- smaller footprint
- standard Harddrive
- built in wi fi
- becomes new elite and still cheaper than PS3 with similar specs
- no Blu-Ray (touts netflix)
- A MMO that you can play on your 360 - teaser

Sony -
- touts Netflix without having to pay for a service (like xbox live gold)
- how easy it was for a non game developer to do this
- Skype video chat next?
- promotes PS3 owner's lifestyle (as not just games) - new paid online service?
- No Price drop (maybe at TGS)
- tease PSP 2 with no real date - just physical hardware "prototype"
- maybe show off a Gran Turismo demo and how it will hook up to your PS3 experience (again)
- Final Fantasy exclusive title for PSP2
- Show off some new eye toy software to increase casual awareness
- New bundle with 2 games and 1 controller new color(s)
- Heavenly Sword 2
- A MMO that you can play on your PS3 - PS3 playable demo available

Nintendo: I really think that they should at least show a teaser for Zelda Wii. Twilight Princess came out over 2 and a half years ago, it's about time to raise hype for the next console Zelda. (DS Zelda just doesn't do it for me, sorry).

Sony: Price cut of $100 and a new Jak game is shown. Home also becomes a feature that connects the PS3 to the PSP. Online community is hyped as well.

Microsoft: Nothing groundbreaking. Halo ODST. MAYBE a new Rare "thing"

Only thing I'd be willing to bet money on is The Agency gameplay footage/cinematic and Crysis 2 news. Anything else I don't think will happen or I don't care much about.

Wii:
- Zelda or Mario coming in November. Possibly a true 2D sequel to Zelda or Mario on Wii. The big N reminds again that 2D is still cool.
-Starfox
-new 3rd party games, for the casual gamers and hardcore.
- Nintendo throw's a little money at developers to make hardcore games. Dragon Quest, a real followup coming to Wii exclusively. Professor Layton Wii, MGS optimized Wii game.
- Nintendo and 3rd party embrace Wii Speak for online games.
- True Mario Kart sequel coming. Actually worthy of the Mario Kart name.
- Kid Icarus is coming in September.
-NHL 10? I am doubtful, but would be sweet.
- possible price drop, but unlikely. More likely, I think Nintendo may start to include motion plus with the Wii systems.
PS3:
- Hopefully biggest mover and shaker at E3. They need it.
- Gran Turismo world wide release on 12/1/09
- GOW by May 2010.
- Uncharted 2, White Knight Chronicles, Heavy Rain, & Ratchet gameplay shown.
- Team Ico game announced.
- Wiimote type device finally announced for PS3. First third party game to embrace remote is EA's Grand Slam Tennis. December release date.
- Netflix announced for PSN.
- HUGE update to PSN and PS3 firmware. Cross game chat, Skype, and Facebook interactivity. Replace your gamer picture with your Home Avatar.
- PSN announces PS2, and PS1 games for download. Starting with MGS, MGS2, Resident Evil, GOW
- Home gets facelift and more features. Integration with Facebook.
- PSP2 announced.
- Square Enix starts to show PS3 some love, showing FF 13 versus gameplay, Star Ocean release date, and ohhh yeah FF7 announced as PSN game download. The original not a new version. Not yet, but you know it's coming at some point. It's a cash cow.
360:
- Wiimote type device finally announced for 360. First third party game to embrace remote is EA's Grand Slam Tennis. December release date.
- Rare finally show's there hand. 3 games in development. 1 or 2 is xbox live download casual games using the avatars. KI3, or Perfect Dark is the game announced.
-Halo ODST
- GOW2 major mission download shown.
-XBOX Live now includes free arcade games, and the casual games you can win real prizes daily. Prizes are Tshirts, games, movies, etc.
-Blue Dragon 2 announced. Major graphical upgrade.
- Facebook integration announced.
- Lionhead show's new game. Alan Wake is real and coming this year. New Forza is shown. Mass Effect 2.
- Major 3rd party announces new exclusive for 360.
- MS teases Xbox 720 to be shown at E3 2010. Launch game with be Gears 3.
- Possible price drop, but not in America.
- Xbox handheld is star of Xbox show, turns out to be Zune Touch. Plays xbox 1 games via download store.

Few other thoughts...
-GTA 5 is announced. San Andreas again, or Tokyo is the setting.
-EA has a few surprises for everyone. Most are expected. Peter Moore get's standing ovation for transition EA Sports has made in the last 18 months.
- 2k announces no more NHL, or MLB games. EA licks its lips. And yells..."I smell money"
- Word leaks out Apple is thinking of entering the console race with new system sometime around 2012. Apple promises to come original, and have the backing of the 3rd party community, and have an all in one living room box. Nintendo is concerned. Sony and MS pee themselves. Steve Jobs video messages comes out of a robot and people shocked. Steve says, "I am the technological mesiah" Give me your money. Apple Stock skyrockets. Google thinks apple has become their nemesis.

I am having a little fun with this post. Hopefully you can tell where this post jumps the shark.
']I am having a little fun with this post. Hopefully you can tell where this post jumps the shark.
You had me until the ellipsis.

I predict that companies will start announcing stuff pre E3 trying to one up each other. See what happened recently June releases:

inFamous is coming in June
Prototype is coming June 9th
Did we say June? We meant inFamous is coming May 26th!
Red Faction has now been moved up to June 2nd!
inFamous preorders get early demo access and access to the DF2 beta!

There is a big lull in releases between Wolverine on May 1st and inFamous on the 26th. There will be big pressure to make some noise there.

Nintendo:
-Press conference consisting of nothing, but talks of how great they're doing and how sales are going up. Followed by embaressing demo of a casual game with a B level celebrity. Audience applauding at gunpoint, internet groans in unison.
-Wii-motion plus first party game aimed toward hardcore audience. Either a new Zelda or Star Fox game.
-An appeal to hardcore fanbase including dates on No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle and Fatal Frame.
-New SKU of the Wii with built in hard drive and motion plus for holiday season. Comes with Wii Resort.

Microsoft:
-Gives date on features promised as part of NXE that they showed last year (including watching Netflix with a party).
-Gears of War 3 teaser shown. To be released fall of next year and to conclude the current storyline.
-Hints of new Microsoft system with Unreal already working on a launch title entitled Pendulum Wars.
-Rare confirms original Perfect Dark for XBLA.
-Second GTA expansion shown and dated.
-APB gets more details and announced for next year.

Sony:
-New PSP announced with second analog and can act as a phone.
-Gran Turismo 5 shown and dated.
-Square Enix announce an exclusive title.

Third Party:
-Guitar Hero 4/Band Hero is announced and shown. Allows creation of bands with up to 6 members. Bring forth the keytar and an EXCLUSIVE band announcement to try and stop momentum of The Beatles for holiday season.
-Kojima announces new game with American development and outside realm of Metal Gear and Zone of the Enders.
-New Valve game announced and shown along with Portal follow up. Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is not spoken of, people die a little bit inside.
-New Tony Hawk game finally appears.

- Modern Warfare 2 gamplay foortage, along with the anouncement of a 360 exclusive MP Beta, yet again shafing PS3 owners.

- New version of psp announced

This is the best I'm hopeing for

Yeah that wont happen since FFXII has allready been released on PSN, in Japan, I expect an american release date for this at E3.

Not really predictions, more of what I'd like to see happen at E3.

Sony:
- Downloable PS2 games for PS3.
- New PSP "Reasonably Priced"
- Mass Effect 2
- PSP apps
- PSP custom soundtracks and trophies

Microsoft:

- redesigned 360.
- motion controller and games
- more free xbox live features
- Castle Crashers 2!

Nintendo

-New F-Zero game
-New Star Fox game

what I'd like to get out of this show is for someone... anyone to release a Hidef 2D Beat em up. I'd love to see Final Fight given the Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix treatment, or perhaps Sega can release a Streets of Rage 4... 2D Beat em ups!!!!!!
