Reactions to Sony's E3'09 press conference.

@Uncharted 2: among Thieves
Little less impressed, I guess the main appeal was the jungle from the first. Hope I get a multiplayer beta invite to convince me that the jungle wasn't what made it.

@MAG
It actually didn't look like a PS2 game! DICE with their Battlefield: Bad Company 2 need to be worried about this stealing their market especially since this is releasing this year.

@PSP Go. PSP line-up.
Never getting a PSP so it didn't change my mind. PSP Go's screen is smaller, at least the length, but software wise it should keep those PSP owners occupied for a year.

@PlayStation Home
Never clicking on that menu on the XMB. Wasted resources.

@Agent
Wishful thinking on Jack T.'s part on it being the GTAIII of this generation.

@Assassins Creed II
Eh... surprised I didn't get excited for it.

@Final Fantasy XIV
At least Sony learned. Never played a FF and never plan to.

@Motion controller prototype.
The reason why people buy Wii is for Wii Sports and Wii Fit, stop chasing that market. Wasted resources.

@Mod Nation Racers
Gave this game too much time.

@The Last Guardian
That boy looks so awkward. Funny how the leaked trailer didn't change much even though it was supposedly from 2007.

@Gran Turismo 5
I don't see anything that warranted so much time when you look at the competition since the last Gran Turismo 4.

@God of War III
Knew it was a March 2010 release. Need to see that 20 minute gameplay.

Overall, too many montages. Splinter Cell: Conviction gameplay is still my highlight of E3 so far.

A bit late to the party, no? I explained that a few posts up :)

good so im not the only person who thought the psp go price was too high. most of that conference was pretty boring. mag looked boring Gow3 of course kicked ass. kind of confused why theyd put ff13 on both systems but ff14 only on ps3. uncharted was awesome not too many games that have me excited about the main game and the multiplayer.

glad to know lost planet 2 will be on ps3. not too excite for ratchet and clank wished more sony staples were shown. gran tourismo could be cool depending on how much it leans towards realism. wish they would have shown dead rising 2.

Pmotion stuff was cool but i still find motion controls to be gimicky. that said the shield and sword and bown and arrow demos were cool. if they used those in a dedicated Pmotion game it could be big. especially if it had multiplayer. maybe a fighting game.

assasins creed 2 makes me want to play assasins creed 1.
All Sony did was water down the Final Fantasy brand. And make alot of gamers angry

$250 PSP, No price drop on current PSP and Metal Gear PSP in 2010

Where is the new Syphon Filter?? I was hoping to see one of the best franchises make a return on PS3. Also why no Heavy Rain presentation? They chose that little Flock/LBP racing game instead??

Well said.

Xbox 360's Twitter and Facebook free features, surpass anything HOME Can offer.

Splinter Cell Conviction 2009 so far is my hight light of E3 2009

I base my highlights on games I can buy in 2009

Left 4 Dead 2 was also a 2009 big surpise.

Nintendo did way better

and SONY well, what can you say about a $250 PSP, and a few 2009 games.

It was pretty lame. Didn't Jack say there's like 30+ PS3 exclusives coming this year? I can't even name 10. They should have showed more.

I love E3 but damn if it doesn't rile up the fanboys. Half of the people complaining here weren't going to like what Sony offered anyways.
This guy is an idiot. You know the PS3 has Twitter and Facebook right?

This doesn't make any sense to me at all. Sony screwed Square over with FF11 on the PS2 and FFXI seems to be doing ok on the 360 and on top of that most FF11 players are PC users. Why would they completely ignore all that?

don't they have facebook and twitter for PS3 as well?

Considering one can just use the web browser to access Facebook and Twitter the normal way, is something special really needed?

Wow... Sony just loves stealing other ideas...

"Some experiences just need buttons".

Yes, Nintendo has proven that some years ago.

God you're stupid. If stupid was currency, you'd be a billionaire. You manage to do the amazing task of being more annoying then Aaron Greenberg and Victor Ireland combined.

Honestly I thought MS's Facebook and Twitter additions were useless. I'm sorry, but I just don't know why I would want to do that kind of stuff on a video game console. Facebook and Twitter are things I would do in class, or on the toilet, not while I'm playing videogames.

I was really wowed by Natal, but now compared to Sony's offering, I'm a whole lot more skeptical. Although MS presented it as live, it looked as if it was recorded video and the person demoing it choreographed her movements to it. Also the rest of the stuff with the family playing and everything was all video and proof of concept.

What Sony showed was all obviously realtime. If that thing really comes out with support, I will definitely be selling my Wii, because it makes Wii Motion Plus look silly.

I was a bit disappointed with the game showings. When I heard Final Fantasy XIV, I was excited, but only until I heard "online". This is coming from someone who played Final Fantasy XI for 4 years by the way.

Metal Gear Peace Walker did not impress me either. God of War was amazing, but it's still far off and we already knew about it. I wonder what was supposed to be the "megaton" announcement people were talking about.

Nintendo Controller based motion controls
Sony controller based motion controls
Microsoft, Facial recognition, voice recognition, Full body 3D motion controls including spacial awareness.
Considering one can just use the web browser to access Facebook and Twitter the normal way, is something special really needed?
my point exactly, how can people get excited over such a simple feature..

Yeah, PS3 already had access to twitter, facebook, and EVERY OTHER WEBSITE EVER considering it has a built in web browser...lol...

Some awesome new games coming out. Pretty excited about the Last Guardian.

edit: I heard during E3 a ghostbusters demo would be put up on PSN? anyone know anything about this? Maybe just with the reg update on thurs?
No price drop? Damn, looks like I'm waiting another year to get one.
there's been plenty of deals for the ps3... 15-20% off from dell, free controller or game promos from amazon. what kind of a price drop are you looking for exactly? each one of those have a saving of $30-$60 dollars. considering it comes with essentials.

Not that I'm excited for the features but I do think they're neat. The X360 Facebook will allow you to upload screenshots of the games your playing and from what I recall, it can upload notifications that you've reached certain milestones/achivements in-game.

Twitter...should have something similar from what I recall.
This doesn't make any sense to me at all. Sony screwed Square over with FF11 on the PS2 and FFXI seems to be doing ok on the 360 and on top of that most FF11 players are PC users. Why would they completely ignore all that?
I agree. Though if it is a mmo, they probably meant it was exclusive to Sony on the console side and will also be on PCs. Though by the time it is released it may be put on both consoles, so who knows. Either way if it is an mmo, I'm sadly excited since I put so much time in FFXI and never found another mmo quite like it, even though in the end I hated FFXI so much.

FF 14 online....I'm guessing it's a MMO. The FF11 for ps3 owners in a sense. So don't hate that hey're talking about 14 when 13 isn't out yet. 14 we just be set in the same time period, that's all. Look how long it takes to make a true FF game. You really think the direct sequel to 13 will come out that quick.

Overall I'm just glad E3 went back to the way it was.

I remember back with the "Game 3.0" stuff, Phil H. mentioned being able to take screens and upload them to a playstation blog for friends. Wonder where that is.

The screenshotting thing will be new, but there's already a facebook app that does notifications on achievements.

Ohh I hope that do put up a demo cause I want to play ghostbusters so bad! oh shit... now I'd like to play ghosbusters using that motion device...

Rumors of the $100 price drop is what I was looking for. And even then with a $300 price point I would have waited for some incentive based sale to get one. I can most certainly live without a PS3, there are lots of games for the 360 and Wii I haven't played but I would have liked to try to get one.

Maybe it will happen in the future, maybe...

just read the whole thread... it's amazing how dominant the Xbox has become to real gamers. I think the PS3 can be a great machine, but they don't push the boundaries enough really. Microsoft seems to give us things to get us on the console as much as possible, and for the PS3... if there isn't a specific exclusive game, or a blu-ray to watch, I just don't use it enough.

Although, it's great for online porn on a 55 inch TV. They should seriously exploit that more. I'm not even kidding.

Looking at the Sony E3 asset site for new games:

Sony PSP games shown at E3:
Buzz! Quiz World
Hot Shots Tennis
Gran Turismo
Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake
echochromo
Invizimals

Sony PSN games (not sure what's PS3 or PSP exclusive):
Gravity Crash
Hustle Kings
PAIN Museum

Sony PS3 Games:
Buzz! Quiz World
EyePet
ModNation Racers

I can't get the fact sheets working to get more info on these, but I'll see what I can find.

Microsoft is pushing boundies by showing 3rd party games, and making more halo? I'd like to see them make some NEW games. Particularly an Age of Empires 4, and their Flight simulator on the 360.

I totally agree here. I've been 50/50 on whether to purchase an Xbox360 or a PS3. I've always been a Sony guy.. never even owned an Xbox but just weighing the pros and cons, the Xbox may be a better deal for me as of now. I was waiting on E3 for a possible price drop announcement, but nothing. But of course, I'll eventually end up getting a PS3.. since all my friends are on it.

Honestly it's a toss up. If all that you play is 3rd party games, get a 360. You'll have it cheaper. If you want exclusives, you will get a PS3 though. Plus I like to know that I actually have something that's reliable. Plus if you plan on using a console as a media player, the PS3 beats the 360 senseless.

cant wait to dl ff7 unless its 15 bucks. 10 bucks im down 15 hell no. also theyve changed some of the look and sound of the sony market place. damn midnight cant come soon enough i want to play uncharted multiplayer!!!!!!!!!

I'm with Paco. I'm failing to see how Microsoft is pushing the boundaries. A bunch of new halo games and a motion controller that looks like it may or may not be extremely frustrating (if you even have the $200 to fork over for it)?

TBF sony didn't really do anything exceptionally ground breaking either today. Except for having insane graphics for the graphic whores (myslf included). But being ale to create content and share it is something no other console offers on such a level atm. The downside of this is that a lot of user created content sucks.

I think Little big Planet definitely surpassed what we all expected for user created content. LBP is a good example of how user created content needs to be.
