EA creates NCAA baseball game

the idea that they will get a decent profit on this is hilarious...

...but i can't wait to buy one for 19.99 or cheaper :d

It doesn't really announce anything, as EA hasn't spoken about this yet. I would be looking forward to this, though, when they make an official anouncement. I know there are a few others that would be looking forward to this, as well.

I think they will make decent money on this, there are alot of people who buy mvp for the gameplay... some dont like how the 2k series plays, so i think that this could get a good following

Nobody follows NCAA Baseball, though. There's a very limited audience for this game, but I guess they might as well try it once since they have that MVP engine just sitting around. I hope they make it realistic and keep the stands empty.

If only 2K could employ the same strategy so I could actually play some football the next 5 years.....or better yet have the leagues stop selling exclusivity all together so we can actually get some better quality sports games through competition.

Hahaha, nice. I love NCAA baseball but I know that it's a niche market; empty stands certainly wouldn't be unrealistic in a lot of markets.

Maybe 2K could make a high school football game. It's not that far-fetched, really.

We had more people milling around at my college Cross Country meets than I saw in the stands at baseball games.

They should throw some $$$ at nintendo and make 10 yard fight 2K6. I don't think they plan on using that title again.

Yeah but those are just old men doing a different type of "trolling" "Nice short, shorts sonny"

Bad, bad, bad...
I would prefer if they did a Women's Fastpitch Softball game. Jennie Finch digitized would rock.
true

Maybe they should concentrate their efforts on making a baseball game as good as Madden instead of branching out... although it's probably only a matter of switching uniforms and replacing the crack of the bat with a ping.

In some parts of the country, college baseball is pretty big. Especially down in the south. University of South Carolina has done very well for awhile now and has a very big following. One of the few sports I can say they are at the very top. It would be a niche title, but I would buy it just to play as the Gamecocks!

2K should use old USFL/CFL/XFL teams/logos and use retired NFL players names (would they still fall under the NFL Players Association contract with EA?)

No one follows it cause there is hundreds if not thousands of teams across the country it's impossible to follow. So I like to see how they are going to pull this off. Would they pick just the best teams in the country or one team an area. For example lets say that southern New Mexico has 25 teams how are they going to choose which team to put in the game, by best team, most popular, or just stick all of them in the game like college football.

Im looking forward to this game bigtime. For everyone playing college baseball no matter what level this game is going to be huge. I just hope they will have accurate info.

I really hated EA for getting the exclusive rights to Football, but now I love them for making a college baseball game. I really can not wait for this game, even though its still many months away. It really is a shame though that college baseball has not caught on. Well, I guess one reason we dont get alot of fans here locally (Notre Dame) is that when our home season starts (Marchish) there is sometimes still snow on the ground. Part of me wishes that the NCAA would make practice (and thus the season) start later in the year, because the midwest and all northern schools are at a disadvantage, because outdoor practice can not start as early as it does in the southern states.

It's true, when I played we had more than a few games where we had zero fans show up. Of course, it was a DIII school, and we played the majority of our games in March/April in northern New York so the weather was usually bad. But if by some chance the SUNYAC division and the Utica/Rome Wildcats were in the game, I would buy it just to remake our old team. Maybe this time around we'd beat Cortland. ;-)

I know I'm one of the few, but I'm really excited about this baseball game. The MVP engine is great and I'm a Florida State baseball season ticket holder, so I'm in total bliss! :D

I'm not sure how it will sell. As others have said, it just doesn't have the fanbase. Even the upper tier schools don't sell out games. A 2,500-3,000 crowd is considered 'great'.

It will surely be a cult game at the least. With all the college ball players who will want it to see themselves in a baseball game and all the other fans. I hope they get all the stuff right though. Some of the guys and myself can't wait to see our team in a game.
Why give up when you make the best baseball game out there?
Agreed. MVP Baseball is the best game out there. It took the spot as my favorite baseball game from World Series '98 for the Sega Saturn.

It's a shame that EA has the football contract, but we just have to live with that, I guess.

I love hearing the crack of the wooden bat in the MLB as like Pujols connects for a home run, but there is something mysteriously cool about that ping.

I would love to see, no this isn't a joke, a region free Japanese professional baseball game.

Somehow playing a game with the Central and Pacific Leagues complete with the Tokyo Giants, Yakult Swallows and the insane Japanese fans, chants and instruments would be so appealing to me after years of MLB games.
