EA Flash Deal for 60% off Medal of Honor Tonight!

EvilCheeseWedge

CAGiversary!
Update: Looks like deal is dead. Bah.

Looks like another EA Flash deal went up. You have to like the post on the EA Flash Deal Facebook page discussing the deal (http://www.facebook.com/eaflashdeals?v=wall) and if they get 700 likes on it by 6 PM PST tonight MOH will be 60% off and have free shipping. The EA Store currently sells MOH for $39.95 for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, so, maybe at $16 it'll finally be time to check MOH out ;)

Tried ordering, but it never gave me a full out confirmation number and I can't check my account right now because the site seems to be getting slammed. Guess I'll find out eventually.

Edit: Finally got logged in and saw that there was nothing under pending or current orders. I'm not to bent out of shape about it, especially since I cleaned house on the 50% off sale.

Edit's Edit: Just got a confirmation email from EA saying I scored the game. Sheesh.

Yeah, I think this deal was outrageously short. It sold out in less than 9 minutes. That's not much time, especially for EA's servers to function properly for some of us. I also think it's odd they're not trying to sell a few more... I mean, it's good for the game. For people that still play MOH, which doesn't sound like a lot of people, more people buying the game means more people to play it with.

I still don't regret getting this for $14.65 used during the Gamestop buy 1 new get one used 50% off deal.

And I still haven't played it. I'm terrible, I know.

Totally wouldve bitten for $16, but oh well. Just got back to work 30 min ago and should've checked then. Oh well, I always miss out on these EA Flash deals :p

Just a word of warning on EA Flash Deals: I purchased Bad Company 2 10 days ago and my order still hasn't shipped. Other stuff I've ordered from them has shipped in one or two days.

Several other people on the Facebook page are reporting the same problem or order cancellations.

I grabbed a copy of MOH for the PS3. I originally bought the 360 version at the midnight release. Beat it and got rid of it. I figured with 60% off plus the 25% off code they emailed me yesterday for my Birthday, I'd snag it up. Cost me $12.97 after taxes.

Far as shipping, I havent had any issues with that. I have bought a few games through the EA flash deals

Same here, they told me the other day that they were out of copies, that when they get more in, they would ship them.

My Bad Company 2 is also MIA.

I was able to get in on the NFS: Hot Pursuit Flash Deal and it shipped within a day or two.

How can EA be out of copies of one of their own damn games?

And if they didn't have that many on hand, why did they make it a Flash Deal? Ugh, so frustrating.

The same way a gas station can be out of gas sometimes? People need to realize companies are not hiveminds. The guys that run the marketing side doesn't necessarily check with the online retail side for inventory before they do these deals the same way your brain doesn't check with how your liver is gonna feel right before going binge drinking.

Flash deal sounds like "limited time"... :/

the flash deals' quantities are getting smaller and smaller. I havent missed out on one yet that I wanted but it's obvious they're not "sold out" in 10 minutes but the amount of copies they put aside for the promotion was probably just 100 or so.

It helps drive traffic to their site, where some will keep shopping, or youll think of them next time you want to buy an EA game.

Brilliant promotion because the deals are VERY VERY GOOD. The flash page is on my favs on facebook and I check every day now

I'm so sick of stumbling upon these deals an hour after they have expired. I've not scored a single flash deal ... how do you track them?

EA Flash Deals is the only Facebook page I pay attention to these days. I check them periodically throughout the day. If they are trying to open up a new deal...I'll check every hour until they are close...and then every few minutes when they are REALLY close. I haven't missed a Flash Deal yet that I wanted. That said...I have a job where I sit at a desk in front of a computer all day...so I have an advantage over many. The marketing on these deals is brilliant...but they are killing my wallet. Funny thing is...I probably wouldn't have bought MoH if it was just $17 retail. Make it 60% off of $40 though and I bite for some reason. I think I'm sick..

So what if you're out all day and a flash deal gets announced, how do you keep up with that? From what I gather, you basically have to be sitting around all day watching their page to know.

I woulda got MoH for $17 had I known it would be available today.

It's not even that complicated. They simply don't allocate all of their stock to these deals. I don't get why people get upset over this. They are under no obligation to sell you every single copy at the great price.

If you find a better way I'm sure the CAG community would love to know. If they had a Twitter feed it would be much easier to setup a notification I would think. Facebook doesn't have much (if any) push notification system that I'm aware of. They may have one...I'm just not aware of it.

TweetDeck will show fb updates within your Twitter feed...that's how I keep track.

Or I check facebook all the time and I see it up on the newsfeed, and check back when the amount of likes is close and boom: havent missed a deal I wanted yet even while at work

follow flash deals on twitter and they are sent to your phone asap, only way i scored today's deal except i had no issues logging in, going thru checkout and finally getting my game. Ran completely smooth with no hitches...weird this was the first one that i actually scored and it seemed like it lasted a lot longer than some of you say but maybe i jsut didn't realize since i was at work.

I agree with you they are not obligated to sell every copy at the cheaper price but after following them time after time and getting stiffed on these "deals" I think it actually works against them. You want exposure and advertising but if it comes at the expense of pissing off a part of your base that actually does purchase your product it is counterproductive. I think advertising the amount available would at least give people an idea of their chances when the deal goes live. Otherwise people will just get tired of a promotion like this IMO.

This thread seriously gave me a good laugh, I swear some of the logic in some people. Be happy EA is even giving deals because I don't see other big name companies doing anything remotely close to this.

You gotta be some sort of dumbass to be pissed off because you didn't get in on a "flash deal".

But I do agree with you that some transparency on how many are available would be nice.

Even if it's 100, it's still a great price.

I've gotten in on 2 of these so far.

I was in the process of ordering the game with the coupon code (I started the process after it was posted on Facebook "3 minutes ago"), and 2 minutes passed. TWO MINUTES, and the offer expired. I was so pissed! It's such a damn rip-off. Who knows how many copies they even give out? 10?

Maybe like 5 copies. How much did EA rip you off for? Waaaaaa waaaaa!!!
This is a problem given that Medal of Honor is one of the most unstable console releases I've seen this year. Throughout the single-player campaign, there were at least four instances of game-breaking scripting bugs that forced me to restart from an earlier checkpoint (and did I mention that the checkpoints are poorly spaced out and often too far apart?). This isn't counting the numerous other technical issues I encountered. Textures and graphical effects popped in and out like a strobelight, sound that cut out completely at times (sending static over my home theater system), and entire pieces of scenery in the near-distance appearing and disappearing seemingly at random. My personal favorite moment had to be the point where one of my AI squadmates turned a bizarre inverted dark and light combination of red and blue, but the most damning visual problem is a framerate that dips into or just above the single digits when there are too many explosions and gunshots going off - which happens a lot.
I'll second at least some of this. I've been playing the campaign recently and encountered a blatant blocking bug that required me to restart the level quite a ways into it. I've also encountered the audio dropout issues, although they're brief - but annoying. Perhaps they've patched it, but bugs this significant and unavoidable should never have been shipped. The game does have merit, but I expect far better quality from EA.

Also, I'm a huge fan of Frontline on the PS2, so I was tempted to get the PS3 version even though I usually go 360 on multi-platform titles. However, the reviews I read were terrible. It sounded like they put in very little effort to try to upgrade the visuals.

I just checked the page for the first time in a week, which happened to be 10 min before the deal went live. You just have to be lucky I guess?

How can it be a rip off? You lost nothing, you were just too slow and missed out on a flash deal, they're meant to not last very long at all.
Giving people games for 60% off retail is a scam now? Good to know.
. This forum is a scam too. Can't score much of anything hot in time.
