I returned a pair of these 2 days after getting them. Played Resident Evil 5 on them and the gunshots sounded very tinny (best description I can give). Lacking any real bass it made shooting the pistol cringe inducing.

Wasn't that Woot deal for refurbs?

Amazon had them for $100 on BF, and they were just recently $105. This $100-110 range seems to be more common lately.

Their probably tryna clear out old stock since the X42's just released recently. I personally don't like the white though.

Id say there still expensive for 109 bucks, my friends got these and i dont rate them that well. I would go with tritton hands down

These are connected through optical right? Does anyone now what settings I should use if I get these for PS3: Bitstream direct/mix or linear, and is it DTS 5.1 Ch. or Dolby Digital 5.1ch.?

I'm not sure, but I think the X41 only decodes Dolby Digital, not DTS. I haven't yet seen a gaming headset that does DTS - which is a pain, with many Blu-rays including only a DTS-MA track.
