Just bought these on Sunday. Except they were $160 at the time. ($144 with ECA discount). Scheduled to ship Wednesday. Maybe I can cancel/rebuy it?

Edit: Nope, too late to change/cancel it. That sucks.
An ECA code would make this a fantastic deal.

The amazon 50% off accessory deal makes this an even better deal :) Go buy 2 used Persona 2's today, trade them to amazon today, and then get $54 in credit and a code for 50% off in a week or two.

...Assuming the headsets are still $150 in 2 weeks. I wouldn't take the chance.
hmm are these really worth that price?, whats so special about them.
They're not. You're degrading your quality by going wireless, there is no true 5.1 headset and from what I've read on these the IR is terrible and unless you're directly in front of the receiver you're going to suffer even worse audio loss.

All gaming headsets are a joke. The only reason they're nice is because you get headphones and a mic. Otherwise you can get a better paid of wired, stereo headphones for under $100.

Huh? Care to explain what you mean by that?
If you are saying that there aren't 6 actual speakers inside the headphones, then you are right.
But if you are expecting any headphones to accomplish that, well good luck.

These are true "5.1 headphones" because the decode a true multichannel signal and processes it in the headphones with excellent results in my opinion.

Turtle Beach HPX. 4 Speakers in each ear. Seemingly all you would need to duplicate 5.1 surround sound. A friend has this headset, and the Astro A40 Mixamp from Astrogaming.com, and swears by them. Of course, that total setup is $80 for the headset, and $130 for the mixamp. Astrogaming does have a 10% discount for ECA members though.

I'm aware that the headsets in this thread only have 1 speaker per ear, but after reading all the positive reviews on how people are hearing 5.1, I bit.

As the website explains, the IR isn't too bad, since it cuts down on power consumption of the headsets, and you'll be facing the TV and the transmitter while you use them anyways.

Thanks OP! I have been looking at buying these for a while now. Got it for $145 after ECA, and Amazon Prime overnight shipping.

They were the DotD yesterday, they're back to their price from Monday, $160.

FYI, I have a set of these. Bought them b/c I wanted wireless surround with a 360 mic and they were the only option. They are pretty bad. I get sooooo much static b/c they opted to go with IR so that the batteries last longer. The battery life is great but there is a constant "static" noise that you can't get rid of, no matter how close/far you are. I tried some of the new Tritons.... those are nice compared to this. I read fairly good reviews before buying this but the static is really annoying. Not worth it IMHO. Bass and everything is nice, feels pretty solid. VERY comfortable. If you are picky though, this isnt for you.
