EB B&M might be seeing a new wave of Disgaea copies? (VERY YMMV)

I was at the local EB in the mall here today, and noticed they had a NEW SEALED disgaea behind the glass case for sale for 49.99. Not sure if they had multiple copies since it was facing forward, and I didn't have time to ask about it since they were super busy. Was weird that they had a brand new copy since it's been so hard to get.

Don't ask me to pick it up for anyone, because I'm broke at the moment, just wanted to throw that out to begin with. It may be worth it to call your EB and ask to see if they have any in stock, though.

I'm going back there tommorrow morning, and I'll make sure to ask about how they came across a new copy of it. It's not uncommon for stores to get a shipment that was "lost in the warehouse", maybe an EB employee can shed some light on this?

Well my store still has a sealed copy of Noutrne (sp?) with the soundtrack, so anything is ossible.

You know what I don't understand about the "rarity" of Disgaea? The first month it was released, what, about 18-20 months ago, it was in the top 10 of PS2 titles sold that month. Not every title out of the 500+ U.S. PS2 titles relased can lay claim to that.

I'm willing to bet it's also Atlus' best selling title this generation. That being said I don't know why it's so seemingly difficult to find.

The message boards on IGN whored this game so bad.

I believe there was a reprint of this game last year. I wouldn't be surprised if the was a third reprint but I think if there was it would have been announced on Altus' website like the second reprint.

I think it's a case of "EB found some copies in the warehouse, so shipped them out to the stores".

It's happened before with other games.

Same thing happened with shadow hearts: covenant, all of a sudden more copies showed up in EBs that never had any before.

I'm almost certain it's their best selling title. And there were plenty of copies printed. It's all about supply and demand.

Disgaea was so successful that it allows a previous game in the series to be brought over (almost never happen) and started NIS USA.

Thanks OP for letting me know on this. After not seeing this game for months and months at my EB they suddenly found some. 2 to be exact. I was always planning on getting this one for cheaper than $49.99 new, but the only other place that i have seen that had it new was Fry's and mine recently sold out of them so I finally just bit the bullet and jumped on this one. Kind of strange my EB got them in again in the first place. Still I'm happy.

No problem.

I know alot of people wouldn't consider 49.99 a "deal", but I figure if I post it up at least one person will get happiness out of it.

Glad I could help you out.
