I can't confirm this, but according to the manager at my local EB the cost of the Edge Card is supposed to rise to $14.99 in the middle of April. I guess this is what's been planned since atleast January since this was originally said to happen in February, but never did. Again I can't confirm this, this is just what I was told.

Well, we all knew it was coming eventually. Since Gamestop basically killed EB's website I think an Edge card is about worthless now anyway.

Well, if that is true, it looks like I will not be renewing my card... I do more shopping now at Rhino since the EB/GS merger

Yeah, ever since I got the Edge card I've only used it online, never B&M, so it does look like it's worthless now.

You guys got it all wrong. The Edge card is dying out, the card is 14.99 but it comes with a years subscription to Game Infomer

i already have a subscription to game informer.
are they going to sell the "discount card" (What is the official name of this card anyway??) separately?

I asked how much an edge card was at my EB and the manager said they aren't selling them right now, and they wouldn't take my gamestop card.

The edge and GS subs. cards will work at both stores sometime this month. It's a good thing if you already have a 5$ edge card, Again i say: EB and GS Discount cards will work in both stores starting sometime this month

Its not that the store cant do it, they just dont know how. The new system took out the option to sell an edge card. Our store became smart because we knew the price would rise so we dug in the system and found the sku for the old edge card and we still sell them :)

there is no alternative, gamestop and eb are the same company, their cards will work at both stores, eb stoped selling edge cards (The ones that dont know how anyways) so there is no alternative

I renewed my card before I found out about ebgames.com not having stackable coupons anymore. Kinda sucks but at least I can use my card at both GS and EB if need be. No way I'd pay $14.99 for it though.

And you can get a 2 year subscription to GameInformer for $24.

The $14.99 subscription is for 10 months, not 12. At least, that's what happened the last time I was in GS, and found that I could just get GI directly for 2 years for $24.

I just bought a new edge card last week, was $5.

Still don't know if it is worth it though even if new price is $14.99. I want my stackable online coupons back!

Eh, I guess I'll be spending a lot less money then.

Psh. No more coupon stacking online, AND the price is rising? Screw that. I bought mine a few months ago for 5 dollars and the only time I really used it was online with other coupons.

$15 for 12 months is the price.

The card will be the Edge card (more card goes away).

Will still get the extra 10% on trades.

And the update for the new EB POS is May 15th. Nothing will change until then.

I've spent the entire last week and a half on the phone with Tech Support asking almost every question under the sun. I'd say im about 99% confident with this info.

I purchased my Edge card last month and bought a complete, albeit used, Zone of the Enders 2 for $17.99 before the discount and a sealed Time Crisis: Crisis Zone at the used price for $17.99 before Edge discount...that's nearly $3.60 of the cost of the card recouped.

Once I break even, I'll be happy since I don't have time to read gaming mags and I'd never trade in my games unless they offer an insane trade-in deal. But I'll definitely decline a renewal come March 07.

The other day when I bought 3 games at the EB near my work, the employees tried to tell me that my Edge card wouldnt work with the sale. I told them I used it at a different EB the day before. They scanned it and of course it worked, but they seemed amazed that it did. They said their employee discount didnt even work with the sale.

I dunno what that means exactly. All I know is my Edge card has paid for itself 50 times over since I got it. Its still good till June, but I doubt I'll get much more use out of it.
