Well then; now I just need a list of applicable games to know what one game I need to trade in, then I'll use trade-in credit for the rest.

Sure I just got my DSL back from Nintendo because the L/R buttons were busted (again), but if the DSi fixes this (plus a whole slew of problems I had with all three of the DSLs I owned), then it. will. be. worth. it.

Hmmm... if it's a $8+ TIV game, then it would be bumped to around $20, and the DSL gets bumped to $80. Not bad.

I'm surprised gamer602 didn't post this though.

EB GAMES/GAMESTOP: $100 OFF DSi!!!

TRADE IN YOUR DS LITE AND A GAME AND GET $100 OFF A DSi!!!
its the DS light and 1 game at 8$ TIV. gets you 100 credit towards DSI. its a good deal in my mind
I no longer buy Nintendo consoles from EB Games.

Seriously there are better deals out there without needing to trade in anything....

Yeah unless your DSL is already about to die, I'm not sure this is a good deal.

Unless that shitty game Trace Memory qualifies, then maybe I will do it.
I hope you guys do know a DSi costs 199.99 at Eb
Are you saying it is cheaper somewhere else? I have only see the MSRP so far.

169.99 in the states >_>

Sometimes stores like Rogers or Blockbuster would have the same price as the states.

Hmm...this is tempting, because my DSL hinge is cracked (probably like poiuiu) and gonna go soon. Now to find a game with $8+ TIV!
Do you think they'll accept my DSlite with the hinges broken off, and the rest of it cracking?
YMMV, but they'll probably only accept it if it's roughly all there; so if it has one of those prominent hinge cracks, they won't notice, but if a whole chunk of it is gone, probably not so much.

From what I can remember, TM still qualifies as old as the game is.

I went thru three original DSes due to dead pixels before that, then the mentioned DSL problems, so I'm pretty much expecting play warranty hot potato with this new version at least twice. Will they be camera problems? Face buttons? Circuit board frying? We will know soon enough!

gamer602: What better deals have you seen? I have seen nothing outside of MSRP for this system from any other store. care to elaborate what you have seen as "better"?

I haven't had any problems with my DS Lite, and it gets used quite a bit, so I won't be partaking.

100 bucks trade is decent by EB standards, though.

I called and the guy said 160 something.

Well, I got the Lite during the "trade 5 for a free Lite" deal at EB and the games I traded in only cost me $60. Trace memory was $15 at EB. I guess if I am going to get a DSi then this is the best deal. I am still waffling about it. I just had a GBC renaissance so it seems a waste to drop the ducats on a fresh DSi when I may not even play it for a while.

I wish there was some sort of "trade X for a free DSi" since that avoids sales tax.

Actually, I just checked Ebay prices and they are $100+ for used white Lites not even complete with box. WTF? Maybe because the polar white is out of production? I guess I would just sell it there instead.

I refuse to pay more than 159 for a DSI which I know it will be soon at SDM.
They have 20% off days very frequently.

OR

a special points day in which you get over $100 store credit back with the DSi purchase.

EB is a joke to buy the DSi from...I mean who would do that trade promo when you can get $100 back from another store without trading anything!

NEVER buy/trade Nintendo consoles/games at EB GAMES.

gamer602: what store is SDM? its not coming to me what the short form is for. Sounds like a great deal on hardware. I am not sure how they are making it profit-wise with giving you 100$ back on a 200$ sale considering the cost on these items is near msrp.

SDM has bizarre sales strategies. I believe they are more interested in revenue growth than profit.. look at all the stores they are building, and all the 20x points promos they run. Sooner or later it will bite them in the ass.

First of all, not many SDM's sell video games.

Second, it's 20x the points, which isn't cash: it's credit for a future purchase at SDM. Good if you shop at SDM often, bad otherwise.

Third, the 20% promo I believe is given back in gift cards: again, not cash.

Fourth, trade-6 and trade-5 at EB were great ways to get a cheap DS Lite, especially with Rogers and Blockbuster promos. Is there a way to get a DS Lite at SDM for $40-50+tax?

Fifth, you're sounding like zoro69 with all that SDM talk. ;)

More than you think. I know. Trust me.
Every single store by me has it.

Use it on mario kart/wii fit/rthymn heaven/POKEMON PLATNIUM

Wrong again...its taken off regular price.
a 200 DSi becomes 159 and you can 1 BONUS $10 promo cash card.

You'll be surprised.
Spend $40-50 on Tampons/birth pills/razors/ etc on bonus days and get enough points to get a FREE DSi!

Try and beat that!

FYI-you do get weird looks when a guy check out with a basket full of tampons.
BUT...i ve seen lots of people do that.

Check out the discussion thread for pics!

See the razors??

Well, he's one smart cookie then...

There's 14 SDM's in my city - I have been to at least 5 of these recently, 1 of which started carrying Wii games around 2 months ago. When I was trying to find a Wii I called every single one - not one had a video game section.

Lone and I are both in Vancouver.
You?

Oh the middle of nowhere in SASKA...CHOO??

jking.....but seriously every SDM in Van city has it...

I find items at SDM are quite overpriced; with the money I save by shopping at Zehrs/Wal-Mart/Zellers I would be able to afford a DSi with my savings alone. Sure, it may take longer, but I'd save money in the process, and that's what CAG is all about.

As an aside, no SDM's in North York or Waterloo have a video game section, AFAIK...must be a Westerly thing :p

The two SDM's by me in Waterloo (west side) carry Nintendo products... usually OOS though. They're both relatively new though, within the last couple of years. It's usually only the newer, large format stores that carry video games.

Oh really, and which EB games store is this? Because everyone I have been to, is selling them for $169.99

+1

Unless you don't have these other stores around you, shopping at Shoppers isn't a great deal on you wallet. They have good sales once in a while, but so does everyone else...

Well do you realize that you are in the Canadian deals section?

Welcome to Canada, eh...now if you would excuse me, a beaver got into my igloo and I must scare him away using my hockey stick and colourful pallet of French curse words. Merde!

Holy fcking crap that's insane; looks like I may have to check out SDM a little more often.

And buying tampons? pfft, I've been buying pads for my other half even before we were dating! >:p PS:
tampons are great for nose bleeds btw.
Oh really eh? Which two?? If I ever read about a deal on video games at SDM I'll know where to go!
Erb & Ira Needles and Erbsville & Laurelwood. I believe the one on Bridgeport & Weber also carries stuff but it's been awhile since I was there.

They basically carry Wii, Wii Fit, DS and about a dozen Wii and DS games. Mostly out of stock at any given time though.

Anyway, if you buy stuff on the 20x points and redeem them on the bonus redemption days ($200 for 75,000 points) it works out to 34.8% off.

Ahh those SDMs aren't close to me at all haha, I'm pretty much right at King and Uni, the Bridgeport/Weber ain't too far off; I'm a little confused with the point redemption...I go on the 20x points day, buy whatever I need, and when "redemption days" come around, I redeem my points for SDM gift cards?

Check RFD, there are massive threads about SDM redemption.

Every large chain has loyalty programs, but personally I find shopping around to be better in the long run then committing to any one store. Superstore has PC points, Safeway has Air Miles, Costco has their 2% Rewards program (not free), HBC/Zellers has points, etc. Also most banks have their own incentive-laden credit cards, so there's that to consider.
