Oh really, and which EB games store is this? Because everyone I have been to, is selling them for $169.99
I corrected that in a later staterment.

I look at the bright side; after exchange rate, we get the DSi a bit cheaper compared the US (199.99CN versus 210.xx), however that still doesn't make it right. :(
Welcome to Canada, eh...now if you would excuse me, a beaver got into my igloo and I must scare him away using my hockey stick and colourful pallet of French curse words. Merde!
Not before I pelt you with this 24 box of Timbits, a bag of ketchup chips and a double/double from Tim Hortons with milk that came from a plastic bag!
Ahh those SDMs aren't close to me at all haha, I'm pretty much right at King and Uni, the Bridgeport/Weber ain't too far off; I'm a little confused with the point redemption...I go on the 20x points day, buy whatever I need, and when "redemption days" come around, I redeem my points for SDM gift cards?
When you redeem, you get merchandise.. no gift cards. Normally it's 75k points for $150 of stuff, but on special days, you can get $200 of stuff.. The trick is to find $200 of things you want on that day, because everyone is trying to buy Wii's and DS's

The points deals at SDM are nuts, especially if you use the referral programs to get even more bonus.

However, the odds of finding a DSi at one of these stores even during a non-sale sounds laughable, let alone on a bonus redemption day.

Are the Timbits day-olds? If that's the case, I'd be in for a world of hurt!

Oh ok I gotcha, yeah like Lone mentioned, a boatload of companies offer point redemption programs. If you start on them early, you'll eventually buy stuff you need, and have enough points to treat yourself to something fancy; I'm hoping I'll have enough PC Points to treat myself to an Xbox 720 or a PS4 in 3-6 years!

If you have the PC credit card you get the points on everything you use it on at any store.

Okay I"m actually not sure what the price of a DSi is. But it makes more sense if the msrp is 199.99.

I went into my local gamestop and the guy told me it was 200. That makes sense because the flyer does say trade in a ds lite with a qualifying game to get the dsi for $99.

If it's 169.99 and you only get it for $99 it means ur ds lite + qualifying game tiv would only be worth 69.99. While if you trade in the DS Lite seperately you get 75 dollars so yeah.

The msrp should be 199.99 by that logic.

I'm all for long term planning etc (thats why the economy is in shit mode right now; people can't plan ahead of a few hours), but even I can envjoy the sarcasm in this post. SDM is only good for discount bacon

Oh I definitely looked at getting a PC Credit Card, but my father isn't too confident in my ability to pay off creditors in a timely fashion, so he would prefer I wait until a steady stream of income starts rolling in. I'm not super desperate for a CC so I figure I might as well give him one less thing to worry about. But we're meandering a bit off-topic here hehe...I've lately become interested in getting a DS, since there's quite a handful of games I think I would enjoy, but I don't know whether I should get the DSL or the DSi; I have a GB Micro for GBA games, I suppose, but it's a little small for my larger-than-average hands...if you guys were buying, is the DSi worth the extra $60?

QQ: I went to my local EB yesterday to pick up a couple of games and I noticed they had DSi units behind the counter in their glass case. Are they breaking the street date, or just teasing?

They're just teasing: it would be silly to have Nintendo ship them all out on the 5th, so most stores already have DSi's and are just waiting to start selling.

I know that US Gamestop/EB games gives you $70 for just trading in your DS Lite towards your DSi. Anyone know if that applies here as well?

EB Canada's trade-in deal is exactly that but you also get an extra 30 bucks if you also trade in an 8+ tiv DS game with it; well, you have to trade both game and DSL to get 100 CND bucks tax-free TIV only towards a DSi.

While it's not as good as BBV US's 90 for a DSL, it's good nonetheless.

Yeah, that's pretty good TIV for a DS game, but I've got none I'm willing to give up. :D

But getting $70 for a used DS Lite isn't so bad if I'm too lazy to deal with Craigslist folk.

From what I can see, nothing in your post merited a new thread. "...receive a $100 trade credit towards a pre-order of a brand new DSi"

I don't see any mention of getting $100 for your DSL + game.

While I haven't actually used the thing's music player yet, but I imagine the DS would make a shitty music player even with MP3 support if only because of the size of the thing to play music by keeping the top screen open all the time. And if you close the system, it goes to sleep and the music doesn't play.

And even if the system does play music in sleep mode, it's far too big to be an adequate music player anyway, just like the PSP. It's nothing worth crying over, imo. :p

It should be noted, I traded in a DS Lite alone and they gave me $75 credit for it.

Yeah $75 standard, I suggest people do that quick 'cause it might go down after Game Days is done and gone with, now that the DSi is out.

Kijiji/Craigslist is now flooded with DS Lites. I'm not sure they would be able to sell for $100 anymore, so this EB deal is actually viable now, assuming you didn't read my review of the DSi, learning from my mistake of buying one.

They're also flooded with $300 DSi's.

+1

I went out to ebgames yesterday and bought a dsi for my little brother. I was surprised they had so many in stock still [~roughly 10?] they even had a wiifit on the counter!

is the dsi demand that big? i dont see why anyone would pay $300 for it...

I would like to take you up on your offer. I have a red DS lite and Phineas and Ferb game that I would like to trade for credit for Dsi. Please tell me how to do this.
Thanks.

Since this thread is from April, I don't know that the offer is valid anymore. You could go into your local EBGames/GameStop store and ask them how much credit they'll give you for those items, but don't expect a lot.

I'd suggest to trade your DSL to Gamestop since they'll give you an extra 50 bucks on top of what your system is worth if you trade it in for a new system (which you wanna do anyway), but unfortunately the deal doesn't include the earliest versions of handheld systems (or the Go), which includes the DSL.

Your best bet now is either trade another system in to take advantage of this (and take advantage of 25 tic for 8+ value games) or sell your DSL to someone else.

Sorry for such a useless post. :p
