EB Games winter sale 1/13 - 1/22/06

tenzor

CAGiversary!
PLEASE READ FIRST
A lot of vouchers, but a few good deals in there, all prices are SUBJECT to CHANGE, Some of the deals didn't list the price and just said save $10.00 after gift voucher, well I added the final price as if it was on sale today. (EXAMPLE: Virtua Tennis PSP is currently $19.99, and has a $10 voucher in this sale which will make it $9.99 after the voucher. EB could change prices from now until the sale. So dont bitch if it happens.

Gift Vouchers come in the form of a certificate (store credit only), that you get in the mail. They usually take anywhere from 4-8 weeks. When you purchase anything on sale that has a voucher, the computer should print it out along with your receipt. Just follow the instructions on the paper that prints out w/ your receipt, and mail it in. Just like most rebates, the gift vouchers require a UPC code so you may have to cut it out.

SALE BEGINS 1/13/05

Cool! I guess a "Voucher" is another word for Mail-in-Rebate...Right?

EDIT: Never mind. I looked at the top part of the OP

-Star Wars Galaxies Starter Kit $9.99 *after 10.00 EB Voucher
-Virtua Tennis PSP $9.99 *after 10.00 EB Voucher (if $19.99 price is still in tact)
-Ninja Turtles 3 DS $19.99 *after 10.00 EB Voucher

-Sonic Rush DS $19.99 *after 10.00 EB Voucher

Great deals/looks interesting, PLEASE keep us updated OP on if EB games is changing there prices on the 13th for the games listed above. Thanks

Word, thanks for doing that so I didn't have to type that all out. haha. One more thing though, we are doing extra trade in credit, 10% for 3 games, 20% for 4 games, 30% for 5 games, so it'd be smart to do some of that too if ur getting rid of an old console. But yeah, I'll look out for any price changes since I'm like the only one in the store who actually does them.

dang,I was hoping for buy 2 get 1 free deal because the eb near me have tons of used ds games.Still Doom 3 collector edition for $10 is good deal I might pick that up.

The vouchers are basically coupon codes or gift certificates that you can use online or in-store. They're not straight rebates.

Thanks for the list and for taking the time tenzor. It's much appreciated.

I'll probably pick up The suffering & GUN A $19.99 after voucher

How long does usually take to receive a voucher code back?

Wow, I've already bought 2 Doom CE's, one for me and one for a gift.. but for only $10 dollars... might pick up a third.

Correct... I buy Virtua Tennis for 19.99, I get the 10 dollar voucher, which is used on something ELSE... you are not getting the games for the after voucher price since they are not rebates...

I see... so you can get Doom 3 CE for free

Unlikely. It's a mail-in voucher, so unless you sent in for your voucher on the 13th, they miraculous had a one-day processing time, and got it back to you by the 22nd, that wouldn't work.

expect EB to pull major bullshit about half of these vouchers and you will never see them. just like the Paper mario 2... they will say UMMM the tennis was to be 29.99 and it was a temp price drop to 19..99 so we wont honor the rebates

fuck eb

In the circular, it was pretty clear that Paper Mario was supposed to be $49.99, so of course they wouldn't honor the $20 rebate on a temporarily marked $20 Paper Mario.

I've ordered many things from EB with vouchers and haven't had a problem with any of them. The only thing I don't like about them is that you have to use them in their entirety or the remaining balance is forfeited.

Hooray for the Better Business Bureau! ;) I enjoyed that one.

In general, EB is kinda slow with their vouchers, in my experience. They tend to take up as much of that 8-10 week window as they can.

Doom 3 CE for $10 is tempting. Already have the reg edition, but I could probably sell it and basically replace it for the CE 'free' at that price. Dunno if it's worth the bother however.

Thansk a lot. I may consider Curse of Darkness but I would prefer cash back so I may hold off. Doom:CE will be mine though.

thats what happened to my freaking Capcom Fighting Evolution. it costs me 19.99 and it says $20 rebate voucher. i didnt get it. i think that sale was in spring. April i think.
not really a deal for Genji as its 20 at Bestbuy and can get owned for 15 after a GGC.
Yea, alot of these are non deals.

City of Villains is $29.99 after their "voucher"... that's great, I can get it for $29.99 right now at Best Buy.

EB needs to start being a little bit more competitive.

I would hope they'd have another b2get1 deal that cna be combined with the edge card.

And who should Eb compete against? Technically they have no more competition in their direct market. Not now that they've merged with gamestop.
Great fucking googly moogly! MINE!
Yeah, I think I'll have to rebuy that one. Thank god I was able to unload for most of my money back last year.

Becent sales thread, I just wonder what would happen if you send it for a an EBG rebate and before you get it, GS kills off the EBG brand? This could be a clever move to get us to send away for vouchers we'll never be able to use

Most rebates from retail stores are handled by an outside company, to my knowledge.

Would be great sale if it wasnt for all the "vouchers" which is a way to get you to spend more money there cuz a $10 voucherwont buy you much!

I had no problems receiving that particular voucher, and I got my Capcom Fighting Evolution for $19.99 as well...

Sweet, I haven't opened my Doom 3 from TRU yet. Should be a snap to just buy the CE tomorrow and then return the regular edition. I had been looking for a cheap copy of the Resurrection of Evil expansion just so I could try out the old Doom games in split screen. But now I can just get that on the CE, and hold off on RoE until I'm good and ready (i.e. after I finish Doom 3 single player).

Now that EB has this new rebate system where the rebate form and receipt actually prints out of the computer, it asks for a copy of the UPC. Under their old system, you could just fill out the form from their circular and submit your receipt. So, has anyone actually done a rebate using this "new" system? Did you actually have to cut your UPC out? If so, I'm done for good with EB's rebates. No way I'm cutting out UPCs.
So If I went to EBgames Friday I would still pay $59.99 for Quake 4 and then get a 10 dollar gift certificate?
Correct. So in essense you're really not saving $10. I'm guessing the OP has never received a voucher before otherwise he wouldn't have mislead members to think they were getting an "Instant $10 Savings". Look at it like this, "If I buy X game I get a $10 gift card/certificate free".

EB vouchers are 50/50 in my experience and no way to track it, they should just give you a $10 gift certificate on the spot like Circuit City does..

Okay, this may be a stupid question but:

Is this sale strictly for EB only, or will it be at Gamestop as well. It is my understanding that these two companies have merged, so I was just curious if this sale would be happening at both stores? Thanks in advance.

Will be getting a Doom 3 CE tomorrow (already have it but for 10 bucks, I will take the other to Rhino as one half of the trade 2 for 1 deal... essentially I am getting 25 in store credit for it)

If you are concerned about getting a copy call your local EB and see if they will reserve one, mine did and Ill pick it up during lunch tomorrow
