Eb/Gamestop Couple of Madden Deals and Other Trade in deals

Damn, with all those exclusions it is pretty crappy of EBStop to charge $9.99 on top of the 2 Xbox 360 trades! They've eliminated all the cheap games, the least they could do is make it trade 2 get 1 (without the $9.99).

In fact, it seems like in many cases you would get LESS than just trading the games straight up + 10% Edge bonus. Just like with the Dirge of Cerebus "bonus" they are taking advantage of people and actually providing LESS credit for a number of games.

For example, say you were to trade GRAW and Oblivion, 2 games which they list prices for on the web site and aren't brand new titles - thus ones people might use for this deal. You would get a base of $58 + Edge bonus of $5.80 for a total of $63.80. If you use this "deal" they will make you pay $9.99 and then, if you aren't savvy, steer you towards a USED copy of whatever game you are looking for (which only costs $54.99). So instead of getting the game + $8.81 left over, you lose your two games and $9.99. Wow, great deal there .

I don't even have an Xbox 360 and I loved their trade 3 get an extra $5 promo, but they are starting to piss me off with these last couple of "deals".

Yea, I noticed that too... uninformed people are going to think they are getting a deal on new 360 games, when actually the company is ripping them off by a fair amount.

Good job on their part elimnating games which might make the deal worth it, too.

Yeah, exactly - I mean, didn't they pretty much eliminate any game that trades for less than $25? I'm not too familiar with Xbox 360 trade-in prices, but I know all the ones excluded are ones I've seen listed as cheap in threads on CAG. 2 games at $25 + Edge bonus = $55, making you pay an extra $5 if you use the deal to get a brand new $59.99 game vs just trading them in normally. The deal is only slightly worth it if you can find 2 $20 trades - your $44 in trades + $9.99 cash will get bumped from $54 to $60 - not great, but at least it is something.
I got this one...

NO!

:(
Actually, they do. Bring in the current sales ad, and if they aren't cool, they have to call and see if that place has it in stock. If they don't, no go. If you get someone who doesn't care, then they price match. It's an unwritten rule of theirs (I used to work for GS). Just wanted to let ya know

When I've tried to price match at eb before, they said they would only pricematch other "gaming" stores, not stores like circuit city or best buy.

GameStop's allowed to pricematch under the following conditions:
1. It's an ADVERTISED price.
2. It's in stock at the competition.

Now, the whole Circuit City having Madden for 47 bucks, we actually got an e-mail saying that we could NOT do that.

My Gamestop prices all competitors; Hollywood, CA.

Ask them about the Madden O7 for the 360. See if they do.

I think some of the confusion as far as pricematching has to do with the EB/GameStop merger. Before the merger, EB had stopped all pricematches. But I believe GameStop still allowed it. Now that the stores have merged, they should be using the same pricematching rule set, though that rule set seems to be somewhat YMMV.

I thought EB/GS only price matched up to $5??? damn i have to ask my manager....lol but yes these deals suck.....they should have only excluded "sports" titles.....then it would have been a bit better.

Halo 2 Regular Edition is worth $20 trade in? That seems highly suspect, it's $30 new and $27 used on their website. And what about the collector's edition?

There Trade 2 360 get 1 for $9.99 is actually well done. It is a pretty crappy deal from our standpoint but atleast it shows they have a basic understanding of what games go for.

It is almost sad the values gamerush will give for games, it just seems like they don't keep up on game pricing at all. Of course I usually trade games at gamerush.

IMO if they are going to raise the prices of games.. Gamestop/EBGames should raise the prices of trade in value.. why is Dead Rising the same trade in value as Kingdom Hearts 2 when you are paying $10 more for the new game...

I tried to get in on the Madden deal (the 30% bump)...but I got the shaft.
Guy(s) said it was for pre-orders only. Did I read it wrong?

Anyway...went to Strawberries....traded in some stuff (3 PSP games, and a GC game)...got $45 bucks.
18 for Madden. Yay...I guess.
