ok, At first, everything was peachy, I went out to my local EB looking for Tomba!, a pretty cool game that I hadn't played in a while. So I go out there, and check it out. "oh no, we don't have it, but we can check out the other store" Duh, alright. So they check the other store. Surprise Surprise, they have it in. YAY for me.

Anyway, I go over there, and look through the bin with him to try to find it, because of course, they can't organize worth sh*t. Then I find it, WOOO finally got the game I've been lusting over for the past couple days. So I buy it of course, rush home and forget about it, well couple days later, I go to play it, and I'm halfway through the level, and find out, that wow it's a demo. Dammit, so, i go dumpster diving, because I had been a smart one and thrown the receipt away. Just thought peoples might want to hear how I just got thrown for a loop. Well, not quite as bad as that one demo disc that went for $50 on ebay.

Damn, that really blows, but then there're demos and freebies that end up costing that much (I payed I think 40 bucks for Christmas Nights, and that was a glorified demo)

Sucks. When you bought the game did it come with the case/manual? If not, did you bother to look at the disc? Also, about not 'organizing' the PS1 dump bin...try working in retail. You can alphabetize it and 5 minutes later its in shambles

No, I've not found it, and I'm leaving tomorrow for costa rica, So I'm screwed, but the guys know me, and it's a rare game, so they may work something out. And no, I didn't look at the disc too closely, it says demo really small, and Tomba really large. no case, no manual, but almost none of them did, so I didn't think much of it.

I'll go back after costa rica, see what I can do, but since I leave 4 in the morning, I can't do much till I get back. And that's how I had forgotten about it,I had to pack.

More like uncommon.

Something similar happened to me... got MGS 2: Substance for PS2 at Gamestop for 24.99. It's an ok deal, I want to finish the games I'm playing first before I dive into MGS 2 and then 3, however.

So about two weeks later, I finally get around to playing MGS 2: Substance.. and it turns out that it's Sons of Liberty, the original release. Never having owned MGS 2, I didn't check the cd very careful, and I know the GS guy and he's usually really good about this stuff.

I call up, and they tell me I can only exchange it for store credit... until I brought it back, and the guy that is working is there, and recognizes the case and the game (since the game had BBV10191930913 written on it) and come to find out, it's the other employee working with him who took in the game as the wrong one.

I did end up getting my money back fortunately, and then found the game in perfect condition and complete at Gamerush for 16.99 that very same night.
Well, would you mind if I steal your luck for when i bring my Tomba back?
Go for it.

If the employees really do know you like you said they did, they'll remember you and remember the game.

The only problem is that I still had my receipt, and the Gamestop guy checked the game over once or twice, because it was pretty banged up and asked me about it every time I came in if it worked ok.

They might think you just replaced the game with a demo disk, and are trying to con the money back out of them.

That sucks, man. Tomba's the one game i've always wanted to try out. I played that demo hundreds of times, never got around to getting the game :(
