Ebay advice?

I started selling my collection off a few months ago to help pay for a sick dog my family rescued here and at gametz.com. Since then I have realized that while it is very difficult to get rid of a collection I have spent over 20 years building, that I really do not play them anymore and the money really helps my family. So I have decided to just sell everything all at once.

My question is if I do this on ebay what is the best way to go about it? Should I try and sell it as one mass bundle, sell them individually or break them up and sell them as a bundle for each individual system(so like sell the 200-250 PS2 games as one big bundle then sell the 75 or so DS games as a seperate large bundle).

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone has and any other advice from regular ebay sellers is appreciated(stuff like best time to list and what not).

Edit - BTW anyone that wants to get an idea of just how big a collection I am selling to give better advice can use the CML tag. Its not 100% up to date and ill be taking a handfull of games out and not selling them(mostly just a few PS2/DS games)but 80-90% of whats there will be for sale.
 
Well, it depends on how much time you are willing to invest in selling the games on eBay. If you sell games individually, you will make probably to most money, but then you have the hassle of shipping each item individually, and that will take up a lot of time. In my opinion your best bet is to just sell the games in lots by platform. Or if you have some rare games, sell those individually and then sell the rest in lots. I myself sell alot on eBay, so if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
 
If you have rare gems then sell those individually.

For the rest of the stuff sell by platform, since you have to pay fees on the shipping now you will probably get gouged on fees since shipping large lots will be expensive. You might want to take that into account or try to sell some stuff locally, if that is possible.
 
Being an experienced eBayer, don't sell them in HUGE lots. The shipping cost will kill most potential bidders. I found this out while trying to sell my comic book collection. I put up complete runs of different books and they brought next to nothing because the shipping cost was so high. I'd recommend selling them in lots of no more than 10 or 20, so you can maximize the amount of games per box versus selling them all in on big group.

Just my two cents from my actual experience.
 
Hmmmmm so probably sell anything worth what, maybe like $20 or over separately? Turn around and bundle the rest up by platform. Sounds pretty similar to what I was thinking of doing.

I read an article where ebay was talking about changes coming up in the spring that reduced a lot of their fees. Have those gone in to place yet?

Will take that in to consideration. Guess its smart too since ebay charges you a higher fee when you sell more right? Like at $50 they start charging you a higher % then at $100 higher again?
 
Well the rates are ever changing and there isn't a method to their madness, that I've discovered anyway.

Sell the rare ones piece by piece and get the biggest flat rate boxes you can from the USPS. Figure out how many games you can fit in each box and sell each lot accordingly. I believe the biggest box only costs $8.95 to send these days. That's what I ended up doing with my garbage comics and they sold very quickly with little time or effort on my part.

Yep. I will probably have like 50-75 or so DS games for sale and 10-30 360 games. I will have to look at both and see how many I have previously sold and how many I want to keep.
 
Hmmm what about the DS and GB/C/A games. All these handheld games are pretty small, do you guys still think they should be sold individually or in small lots or sell them as a large lot?
 
If you can I would also wait till the holidays to sell whatever gaming stuff you can especially if you have stuff that you know is worth more but is not fetching the prices that you want it to right now. Pretty much all gaming stuff goes up in value during the holidays. You could even try going local around early November, stores might be paying more then for trade in's if they need holiday stock.

You can definitely save on shipping by using a flat rate box, plus the items will get to the person faster, if an item is above $30 then I would sell it separately though.

What is described above is pretty much what I do when I have to sell games, I pack them ahead of time and see how many I can fit into a flat rate box then I auction them off in lots based on that. If there are a lot of games for each platform then it might be better to do 2 lots rather than one huge one.

I think you can pack quite a few DS games into a flat rate box, assuming they all have the case and manual, if its cartridge only then pick out the more valuable ones and go for it all at once since shipping probably wouldn't matter either way since they are so small.
 
It might be worth it to make small lots of cart only games and put them in small flat rate boxes ($5)

The other advantage to flat rate boxes is you can charge calculate shipping, which is better than dealing with the limits that ebay puts on shipping rates for some categories. I wouldn't do more than 5-8 games in a lot.
 
Someone over at gametz gave a decent suggestion I might take. He said that since ebay ended listing fees that it is easier and cheaper to do the ebay store route. He said its time consuming but finding the price of each item then listing them all seperatly with a buy it now is the slowest method but gets the biggest return. I may try that and I can always then just post the price of my games at CAG and Gtz as well.
 
If you are going to list things individually it might be worth listing some on Amazon. I have had good luck getting rid of some of my old stuff that way also.
