Hey guys. I'm not sure what's going on here.

In September, I won a voucher for the PS3 version of Rugby World Cup 2011 on Twitter. I was trying to win something else and ended up with that. I don't have a PS3, so I listed the code on ebay and sold it for $39.99 with Buy It Now. The item description clearly states it's for a code. The buyer (who doesn't speak English well) paid for the code immediately on September 23. I sent the code, along with instructions on how to redeem it via PS3 and PSN, in both a message on ebay and an e-mail to the person's Paypal address with a very clear subject line. I remember seeing a thank you message from this person shortly after.

On November 22, the person contacted me and said "something happens to the shipping I didnt recive it do you have it back???"

It's been exactly two months since the purchase was made. I still have the e-mail and ebay message that I sent this person, but she is claiming she hasn't received it yet. I wrote a response to her, but ebay wouldn't let me send it because the "conversation is old." I went to the person's page and tried sending a message that way, but I received a blank error box. Neither of the messages appear in my sent folder, so for some reason I can't contact her via ebay. I don't have the thank you message anymore, either. And I don't have a PS3 so I can't check to see whether the person has already used the code and is just trying to swindle me.

Here's the message I sent:

"Dear den176,

Hello! Thank you for purchasing this from me. I've heard it's pretty good, but I only have an Xbox.

Redeem this code on PlayStation Network for Rugby World Cup 2011:
Code:
Thank you again! :D

- nearlightspike"

Can this person dispute this and get a refund after two months? I don't know how to contact a person who disregards e-mails when I can't contact them via ebay messages. It really feels like a scam here, and this seems rather coincidental to start asking so close to Black Friday.

I don't know what to do to rectify this. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Normally cases have to be disputed within the first 45 days when the payment was received.

Did you send a physical copy to him with the tracking info? Even if it was just a piece of paper with the code on it, or a print out of the email with the code on it, it's better than not sending anything.

If not, you might be sunk on this one if paypal let's them continue with the case.

Best option is to call up ebay and check what to do in this matter. You will probably get a lecture on why you can't list things without physically sending them, yadda yadda yadda, but it might be safer just to contact them directly.

[quote name='ohboy10451']I was notified by ebay that these emails have been sent as an error.[/QUOTE]

His issue is different though, since the buyer actually messaged him about it.

On November 22, the person contacted me and said "something happens to the shipping I didnt recive it do you have it back???"

I got the error messages too, but I think this is different than that.

I don't know if it matters or not but the fact they left you a positive for the transaction seems suspicious for them (in other words why did they leave you positive feedback if they claim they never got the item) and maybe they did this on purpose and were waiting a while to try to get their money back and scam you.

If they open a dispute or are still able to, that might help your case if it is an EBay dispute and not a Paypal dispute.

edit,
"Generally, buyers have 45 days from payment to open a case—the same as with the current PayPal dispute resolution system. Exceptions may be made to buyers based on factors such as member account information, listing information, item location, and shipping method. You'll be asked to work things out with the buyer, but if you're unable to come to an agreement, we won't require reimbursement from you for cases filed after 45 days from payment. "

If that's the case, they won't get their money back and you can't get a negative since they left the feedback so you should be ok.
