eBay lowers minimum insertion fee to $0.25

I really wnat to unload my old games on Ebay but I'll have to wait untill they have free listing fee day or something like that... :?

I'm glad that Ebay is finally listening to the complaints from their members and giving something back to us, even though it may be a minor 5 cents.

The best thing is that they will be writing their own email reponses now, rather than just the computer sending an automated response.

I'm glad ebay lower the fee too. They've been raising the fees like crazy recently and I stop selling on ebay for a while now.

Those automated responses were so fucking annoying, esp. when you've been ripped off by a fraud seller and your trying to figure out WTF is going on. Thank god. Where did you hear this?

^ From the same report that the OP was referring to:

"eBay has a fantastic Customer Support team, but Meg and I agree we haven't invested enough in giving our CS reps the flexibility and tools they need to really take care of you. So, to start, within the next 90 days, we'll shut down most of our automated email responses. Our users will get a “real” e-mail response to their questions – you'll hear from a human being who will try to help you with your problem or question right off the bat. We will only use auto responses to acknowledge receipt of spam or policy violation reports."

It is weird. I tried to sell something for $4.99 (starting bid) as an auction on ebay and they still charge me $0.35 insertion fee instead of $0.25? Why is that?

As I said in the OP, the lowest insertion fee is for starting bids of $0.01 to $0.99.

$1.00 to $9.99 has been $0.35 for a while now.

I got one of those once, and I had to pay extra to accept the paypal credit card. I was pissed, so I don't want that to happen again

Where does it say that on the Ebay announcement?

I think you are going to have a hard time selling stuff if you do that all the time.

The announcement says the minimum insertion fee will be lowering to a quarter. Well the minimum instertion fee is for listings with starting bids from $0.01 to $0.99.

Seems clear that if they were going to lower the insertion fees for any other starting bids they would have trumpeted it loudly in this announcement as well.

If you check their fee table you will see that my assumption was correct:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html

At the time I created this post they had not updated the table -- I assume because the fee decrease had not gone into effect yet.

You have to read eBay's e-mails and notices very carefully as they always paint anything they are doing in the best light possible (as any company would really)
^ Oh, ok. Thanks. I guess I'll still be paying 35 cents since I never list something for under a dollar.
Theres no reason not to start something for under a dollar. It will still sell for the same amount. It might even go for more due to increased bidding activity.

^ I usually start my auction at just below the minimum I'm willing to accept for the item. I'm afraid that it will end really low if I start it at 99 cents or something.
