Ebay vs Amazon

i like to sell things on ebay, generally because its slightly more popular for used items from regular folks like me.

i like to buy things new directly from amazon though, just because their prices and customer support is so good

Amazon's fees are only slightly higher than ebay if you use paypal. But that's only for media related items, amazon's commission is a bit lower on other items sold. Also, amazon does not charge you to list an item until it sells... so you can list as much as you want at no cost to you.... Amazon's dispute policy is also much much better than paypal/ebay's and will always side with you as long as you have tracking and sent on time.

The OP was asking about buying, though I found the comments about selling interesting.

I'd say that pro for Amazon is that they tend to have more items at a range of prices that are available for immediate purchase.

On eBay, you may not have the Buy It Now option for the item you want, or if it is there, it tends to be outrageous.

That said, while Amazon tends to have lots of low-price offerings, the high price ones are really in the stratosphere. While eBay store offerings might be outrageous, Amazon's high price ones are divorced from reality.

Both offer protections, feedback, and are easy to use. Use whichever one nets you the better deal.

But you only get five dispute chances. Ever. I got a FUBAR'd Fighters Megamix from an Amazon seller once for 10 bucks. The seller wasn't responding to my emails, but I didn't dispute it because I didn't want to waste a dispute on 10 bucks.

I think it was Jward87. Don't buy from that dickhead.

I like Amazon because I can set up something up for the amount I want to get for it and have it sit there for 45 days (I think thats the time frame) and wait for someone to buy it. If it doesn't sell there are no fees and I can set it up again. I been having a lot of success with Amazon. Yeah the fees are a bit much on somethings but they also give you a shipping credit.

The con of Amazon: Buyers do not leave feedback as much.

EDIT: Just realized that you were asking about buying not selling.
name some pros and cons for both sites buying from private sellers.
No pics on amazon and often times the descriptions are generic/not descriptive. but not always. Since people compete for the lowest price, you might find the better deal there.

but you might as well just check both sites for the better deal...not like there's footwork involved or something
