They print fake copies of the cover for presales, yet for the actual new game they open it. Know why?

Because you're getting the employee rental. Enjoy.
The vendor pays to have those items printed, not GS/EB. And honestly, the terms new and used are soley for inventory purposes. Maybe they should call new games Type A and used games type B.

* Would you like the A game for $50 or the B game for $45? *

Should I demand a discount on every new car i purchase because it has 3 miles on it? No, its silly. New only implies that it has never had a previous owner, IMHO.

Ever buy a pair of shoes? Think they are straight off the assembly line? Nope. Who knows how many people have tried your shoes on and walked around in them and decided that they didnt fit.

Quit trying to defend gamestop.

And what your saying about the shoes are dumb. Most shoes are only tried on a few times before some one buys it, and I would know I work a Foot Locker.

And its not like people run the mile in them and as a test. People just put them on walk a few steps and say it doesn't feel right or say they'll take it.

Plus when shopping for new shoes if you see a brown spot on it you would not buy it...am I right or what, you'd grab another pair of the same kind.

Thats what I'm doing with video games, ask people, they have tried to sell a "new" game that was used. and when I say used I mean it has marks on the disc or isn't clean or something.

When you buy new you want new.

If you want used then you'll buy it used for a discount price.
It kills me that some people find it easier to bitch and moan about threads that get posted from time to time over the same subject etc etc blah blah blah vs NOT CLICKING ON THE GOD DAMN THREAD THAT THEY HATE SEEING.
Did you see the thread title? Who even knows what its about UNTIL you click it.
I notice the package was small, I wasn't even too sure that it was from gamestop.com When I open it there are the two games in paper cases and thats is all. Damn I was pissed.
Gamestop dosen't gurantee the games will be complete, it says so right on their website.
Gamestop dosen't gurantee the games will be complete, it says so right on their website.
Most people don't read. There the same people who come here and bitch and moan they can't return a new game because they 'didn't like it' yet will bitch about getting a resealed game.
Gamestop dosen't gurantee the games will be complete, it says so right on their website.
Yeah I did know that, but most of the time it only occurs when buy a old game (genesis, SNES, N64, PSX) not when you buy a game that was made only a year ago.

EBgames does include complete games on newer titles.

So I'm just telling ya'll not to shop at GameStop.

If you dont like these stories or dont want to read the topics, dont respond to them. Its as simple as that. The OP obviously didnt know about this before if he posted this topic.

If the OP wants to make a thread about this, who cares? Stop making those childish rolling eyes posts saying "This has been posted before!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!". I mean the OP obviously didnt know about this before, otherwise he wouldent be posting this. And if you dont like it, dont post in here. Most of the time I think this is 'Cheap Asshole Gamer'.

This has been talked about before, will be again in this current thread, and most likely will be talked about again in another thread as well. Gamestop/EB Games gut (take the game out of the case) their games in order to display the game. They only have so many copies and when it gets down to the last one, unfortunately it isn't sealed but it is new. They do it with new and used games but store them in different areas so not to mix them up. What some people call new, others may see differently. It's the same game, it's just they opened it to display it for you. It hasn't been played before, it was just sitting in a sleeve behind the counter until you went up to buy it. The one thing that I can't believe is you have been a member here since 03 and didn't know this.

Thats not always true. I know of employees who take the 'new' games home. Also, the 'new' games they have in their dusty ass systems in the store are resold as new. 99% of the time I buy games without seals they have scratches, finger-prints, or crap on them. Once I bought Hot Shots Golf 3 from EB and it was a display copy, and it was in so bad condition I wouldent even accept it if it were marked used. True story. There was freakin' traces white sticky stuff on the bottom that looked like gum! (Make cum jokes now).

Regardless of the title, when it was read did people have to reply? NO! When they see what it was about its a hell of alot easier to click the back button vs typing a small rant bitching about the 132423-15835-18598 time this has been posted.

Frankly, the biggest reason there are gutted games, is to show the product on the shelves. It sucks, yeah, but corporate wants it that way. Will they send out display cases for anything that isn't a prerelease? No. Is this ever going to change in the near future? No. They barely want to send out BLANK dvd cases for the stores that need them for their used selection (using jewel cases for PS2 games is not fun, especially if you can imagine seeing them on the tiered racks many GameStops use, ew).

If you really MUST complain, go straight to corp, or maybe the feedback website. The store manager or anyone working in the stores themselves has nothing to do with the practice of opening one copy of each new game--every store is required to do that, and it isn't magically the fault of whoever rang you up that day.
Physical wear on the discs themselves may be a different matter altogether, that shouldn't happen (barring stupid packaging altogether--whoohoo Halo 2 CE) . Although in the case of GameCube games, the sleeves they have are horrible and many get a few marks just from them (bad glue.. or something it seems). Just ask to see the disc before they give it to you, that's all.

After reading this I learned never get between a nerd and his new videogame. Or else he will bitch and moan on the internet.

I try to be a nice guy at work but when someone comes into the store and doesn't want a game because it's the gutted copy, I know he knows about this site or another site on the net. If you don't buy it I don't give a flying f*ck, I still get paided to basically do next to nothing! Don't come up to with 2 penny guides and a $14.99 guide, then proceed to say "oh I dont want this $14 guide, I'll take the 2 penny guides" That shit doesn't cut it. If you want the guide ask, don't try to outsmart us with the awesome power of the internet because some jackoff posted it on the net.

Funny thing is, you all cream your pants when their is a B2G1F sale at GS, getting all these games on the good price yet you are doing what the Corp. what's buying games that just came out a week ago used, thus giving GS all the profit. Supporting the Corp. that you hate because they opened a game so people have the chance to take a look at the game box and booklet before they buy it.

All and all the so called "hardcore gamer" is a very minimal consumer in the GS market. They love the mothers, fathers and little Billy Everychild because they don't give a crap about the opened copies, they trade in games for crappy prices.

Best Buy needs to hurry up and start accepting trade-in's nationwide.... I'd love to see what that would do to EB / Gamestop, espically since Best Buy would advertise the hell out of it while EB / GS have no advertising.
...or deals anymore.
The EB online used stuff is a pretty good deal using the 3 coupon stack: CAG15/16 or PPLAY15, SAVER, and Edge Card.

Yes, I know about the ebgames.com coupon trio but the selection usually sucks aside from during the morning update and I'm too lazy to get up early enough to partake in it anymore.
Sorry, I and others will continue to reply to these topics on a daily basis.
Then quit being such a fucking baby about it. You're whining is just as bad as the OP whining.

Yes, radioactive man is oh so correct. I am that guy who punked that chump who wanted to get the penny strategy guides, charged him full price!!! lol. Needless to say, he declined to pay it. Oh well.............

Funny thing is, if the guy had asked for it, I would have given them to him. But he had the total fanboy attitude of someone who is trying to get one over on the chumps at Gamestop. I hate that, and I hate how obvious these guys are even when they think they are like the Ninja! lol.

Will do it again many times. I have no interest to make my store extra money. We do just fine selling to Grandma for her little precious brats.

Yes, I am the manager there. And the way Gamestop has it set up, there is no reward for making the store more money. Dumb system yes, but it is true.

Hold It!

So, if I just walk right up to you and ask, "Sir, do you have any penny guides?"

You'll let me pick and choose the ones I want? Pay, in pennies maybe even and leave? If you did that, perhaps you could get a preorder or two a year from me.

Where is your location? I'm shopping at your store.

Sure I would have let you have them. You were upfront and nice about it. The guy who came in was obnoxious and made it clear he wanted no other business with us than the penny strategy guides.

I would not even care if you pre-ordered something, I get enough of those on my own, just be nice to the dude behind the counter.

Nice sig.

And as far as pennied guides go, half the time I forget which ones are pennied, but unless I am buying something else, as I feel bad (not sure why) for buying pennied out guides. But I defitely would ask at my EB, as they're all laid back there.
