FAQ:
How do I get those sticky yellow EB stickers off my case?
Buy a bottle of Goo Gone. They're usually $5 or less. They last forever and are a good purchase if you buy lots of used games. You can find them at drug stores or places like Wal Mart.

The bottle looks like this:

When is the EBgames morning update?
Usually between 7am and 8am eastern time, Monday through Friday. There are no updates on some holidays.

How do I know the update happened?
The number of in stock games will drop to zero, then rise back up. This takes less than a minute.t

I had game X in my cart, but it disappeared while I was checking out. What happened?
Someone else beat you to it. Just because an item is in your cart, doesn't mean it's reserved for you until you finish checking out.

How do you know how many copies of game X are in stock?
When the item is in your cart, change the quantity to a large number (like 99). When the page refreshes, the quantity will be reduced to the number available.

Are there any coupons I could use to save money?
CAG15 gives you 15% off used merchandise.
CAG16 gives you 16% off $50 or more worth of used merchandise.
SAVER gives you free shipping on orders containing used games and accessories. For some reason, Gameboy games do not work with SAVER.

How do I find links to games that are currently out of stock?
Use the following Google link and replace "gameyouwantgoeshere" with the name of the game you are searching for. [thanks radjago]

Actually got my Front Mission 3 today, backordered since December. Came in great shape including the inserts and only one sticker neatly placed on the back of what looked like a new jewel case. Thanks to everyone who told me to hang in there rather then cancel the order and order it again.
It probably went OOS before the re-update then came back not acounting for it just going OOS before re-updating putting you on back order since you were able to get an order though.
???
???
I think what he meant to say is, a computer glitch reported the game in stock when it actually wasn't, thus allowing you to place an order that will be filled when they get some more in, but at this moment they don't have any.

I don't know if this was said anywhere on these boards yet but GameStop's website now includes EB Games when you search for a game to see if it is instock anywhere local. Happy Hunting.

But its eerie . . . the EBs are now called Gamestop . . . fuck I hate this merger!

I got my second Guitar Hero today . . . everything looked great (stickers not even applied) but then when I tested it, the green fret button feels normal but is locked into on . . . really sucks.

And in playing further with my first one (ordered in early Jan but not played much) it has a short in the cord. Now I've spent $60 for 2 non-working guitars.

I will return this second one . . . probably ebay the other (as having a short) to try to break even and just move on.

Yeah, I have to move on as well now. I am sure we are all just returning bad controllers only to get another returned bad controller. Maybe we should be marking the box with CAG so that we know if they are just resending them.

Yeah, the fact that they took off the feature to see if an item was in stock at EBgames.com and added EBgame stores to Gamestop.com instead of doing that as well as adding Gamestop stores to the EBgames instock thing seems to allude to EBgames.com ending at some point.
Anyone else wonder if we'll have a regular update this week?
I'm interested to see if/when EBGames.com and Gamestop.com merge into one site/database/update.
Anyone else wonder if we'll have a regular update this week?
Well, I hope it stays at the same time it's been this past week.
only 339 ps1 titles? Only 3 of them are rpg's? Where did everything go?
Everyone having a panic attack...I ALMOST did it for the NES games last week.

I thought EBGames usually said if they included original instructions and packing. Have they changed that policy, or am I confused?

Kameo dropped to $39.99 preowned through Gamestop, hasn't reflected on EBgames yet. That would be a sweet price for a pre-owned 360 game ($30.00 before taxes.)

It still says it. That only applies to PS2/Xbox/GC/360(?)/DS, not GBA/PS/etc. Scared me for a minute, I thought you were saying they'd taken that off for all those.

This is bullshit. I figured the update was happening later now so I set my alarm to later and I miss it. Oh well, doesn't sound like I missed much.

360 games just say Guaranteed to work. :(

Crap, I missed Breath of Fire II... that's one of only two or three games I'm really looking for anymore. Ah well... if the update is gonna stick to being around 7:30 or so, it doesn't matter much to me if it ends.

Look on the positive side...you won't have to start a new thread every other week!

And how can 360 games not be guaranteed to be complete?!? That is totally unresponsible on Gamestop's part! Are they taking trades on Disk only 360 games? I don't think so...so don't send me one!

They always take trades on disc only games for all systems, they just give less for them and don't give special deals on them.

Same here. They don't seem to be getting much different anymore, at least at the cheap end I'm interested in.

I'm willing to bet that EB's policy of complete games (for any system) is going to be history before long. How can GS maintain this for only "EB" stock?

Things are going pretty much the way we predicted six months ago.

Not so much a sudden end to EB but a gradual assimilation.

How long will the EB site continue at all? . . . It all makes me want to cry.

What always surprised me was that I could walk into some GameStops and they would be selling some used games, without covers and/or manuals, for a few bucks less than the full versions. Other locations had both gutted copies and decent copies for the same price. C'est la vie?

It just makes me miss some of the small, independent stores a bit more. I was always a fan of adjustable prices based upon the condition of the game. If the game is scratched to hell it would probably sell for 25%, 30% of what its used value would normally be. If it's missing a case and insert (portables not included) the price would be knocked down to around 60% of what it's worth. I always liked that, mostly since those stores lowered their profit margins just a bit on their end to make sure that titles moved and that prices were still highly competetive for people who didn't really care. It also helped move stock off of the shelves rather than having them languish through 20 repricings and an eventual "get the hell off of my store" sale.

i am disappointed that this thread is dying because i still haven't figured out what it is all about. if it was continuing, then i'd ask someone to explain what i am supposed to do when the morning update comes up?

ebgames.com updates their site with new inventory every weekday morning, usually around 7:30-8am. That's really the only time when you'll find particular hard to get things. If you look at the first post in each thread you'll see some examples of games you'll only find during the morning update (not to say you'll find them every morning, you certainly won't, but the only time you will find them is during the update).

This isn't registering for my local EB stores. It's still only showing GS stores locally. Am I doing something wrong?

No. For me the store locator shows both GS and EB stores, but the Store Availability only shows GS.

Most of the EBs around me are showing up through GameStop.com, but a few aren't. Makes me wonder if they are planning to close these stores, so they aren't updating the system for them, or if these are the stores that have never been able to check other store's inventory due to a slower internet connection and therefore can't upload their inventory and are being left out for now... Who knows?

While I was calling around asking every store in the area if they had Phoenix Wright in stock, I got into a conversation with one of the guys about the merger, and I guess all their computers aren't updated yet, so in certain districts, only a handful of EBGames stores are showing up in the locator, rather than all of them. Around here, the finalization of the merger is set for the 13th.

EBGames gives less for disc-only games, Gamestop doesent. Well, until EB is gone...

Wow, so I received my LoZ: Collector's Edition today and the case is all broken (doesn't even close) and the cover has a 2 inch tear in the middle of it. I mean, I knew it was used, but this is pretty crappy. Don't they have any standards?

Is that par for the course for EB?

I'd have to say no from my past experiences and today's, as I received Lunar 2 with 4 of the 5 discs, only missing the soundtrack.

Working designs is known for having different printings and art for their discs.

Here are the variants:

And here was the last post that the creator of Working Designs made on their message board *sniff*

First of all, sorry for being incommunicado for such a long time. It's been a busy time, as you'll see.

There's no easy way to say it, so I just will. Working Designs is gone. All the staff has been laid off and the office is closed and has been for some time. Yes, the website is still here, and I am going to do my best to keep it tucked away somewhere on the 'net so it doesn't become an illicit domain. (Of course, some of the haters may be of the mind that it's been illicit all along, heh!).

The most frustrating part of all of this is that I know that our fanbase is still there. Growlanser Generations sold well, but of course not better than it would have sold as two separate titles. We just spent too much time fighting the good fight to even get it out, and other games approved.

Though almost finished and substantially improved from the Japanese release, Goemon is dead for the US, and that was really the final straw. If I can't guarantee that the games I personally choose for us to release in the US can actually get approved and come out, there's no business to be done. There is a possibility that it may be released in Europe (as well as Growlanser Generations), but nothing is finalized yet.

I know many of you will have lots of questions, and there will be some I can answer, and some I can't. Sony has made it clear that they do not want the details of their dealings with any publisher made public. Suffice to say that you would buy what we wanted to sell if we could sell it.

I want to thank each and every one of you personally for being a fan, buying the games we released, and telling your friends. You HAVE made a difference, because you bought the crazy things we did. Thanks to YOU, there are deluxe packs, pack-in soundtracks, better packaging, great hint guides, and better localizations in general. We said it a lot, but it really was true. We were nothing without you.

For the future, there are still great opportunities. I have been in touch with a number of other publishers and manufacturers and I will be working with some of the WD staff to do games for other publishers for the time being, but not as Working Designs. One thing that holds a ton of promise is XBOX 360 RPGs, and I've contacted Microsoft about getting what's underway in Japan out in the US and helping to get more done worldwide. We'll see what happens on that front, but please let them know that YOU WANT MORE JRPGs here. There's some amazing stuff coming for the '360 in Japan, and I know I want it - I think you will, too.

Thanks for everything. It's a tough road ahead for games that aren't of the least-common-denominator variety. The choices you make with your hardware dollars are more important than ever for the generation that is upon us.

With that, I bid all of us...

...Good night, and Good Luck.

Ok, I have a question. I'm looking for the 1019 memory card for Gamecube, now is the morning the only time they would add more if they had more in stock? Or can they add it anytime of the day?

Morning only, although there has been the very very rare exception to this rule. Interesting on the Lunar 2 variants, I thought this was one of the games with only one set of art, as all three of the copies that I have owned have all had the 2nd set from Rozz's post.
Thanks rozz, looks like i have both sets now.
