Prices seem to be going up for the older PS1 games. Maybe they're onto the whole adding a cheap used game for free shipping. Take this for example: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/166132.asp

I got it for a buck a couple months ago from EB.

Nevermind I looked at it through my link and the new price is $1.99 now while used is $9.99. Not a bad deal at all actually if you just want to mess around with a dated but fun game.
and i woudnt expect them to come back. i been waiting 2 years for some of them to come back
Yeah, it's not like they print up new ones every few months or anything.

Well, I bought that Unholy War game. Sounded interesting, and for $2.40 ac, it doesn't really matter if it sucks. It sounds fun though.

On a side note, I've never had troubles with my EBgames.com purchases until the last two weeks. First, there was the Zelda: Oracle of Ages cart problem, and I traded it in at a local store and got a different one.

I got Game & Watch 2 and 3 Saturday. 2 works fine, but 3 is waaaaay screwed up. Wouldn't even start. I cleaned it, and now it starts, but it freezes on the title screen and the colors are messed up. I really want the game, and taking it back would be oh-so-fruitful, considering I payed $2.42 or thereabouts. I'm 90% sure my local stores don't have the game. And $2.42 doesn't seem worth the gas money even, so any advice?
Checked their site (atlus.com) inserts are $2, manual is out of stock.
Thanks for the Help everyone.

I'm gonna try and send 3.00 for the manual anyway...that seems to be the going price. Maybe they haven't updated the website. What's the worst that can happen?

I'm having a similar problem with the G&W 3 I received as well. At first it wouldn't even go past the "Gameboy" screen with the "Nintendo" word all garbeled. So I used the old huff and puff method that works semi decently from back in the day on my NES, and still works on my SNES carts. That got it to start up. So I started playing the Classic version of Mario Bros., and about 5 min in, the game froze on me. I think that was the first time I had EVER seen a handheld game freeze on me like that. So I turned it off, took it out, huffed and puffed some more. A couple more huffs and puffs both into the GBA SP and the game itself, and I got it working again. Has me kind of wary as well though as to how well and long it'll keep working....

That or they have zero quality control regarding preowned games (yah think?!)

well my super metroid wouldn't work no matter what i tried, which really pissed me off, because i overpayed for it on ebay for $15 shipped, and i had to wait to buy a SNES until i could test it. then i had the brilliant idea of using a substance that's helped me in so many other desperate situations (such as DRE PS2). i used rubbing alcohol on a q tip to wipe all the little connectors in the game off (which were pretty dirty in places), and now it runs like a charm. great game too, but imo Fusion and Zero Mission surpass it in every way.

I love Fusion and Zero Mission, but are you kidding me? Super Metroid is one of the greatest games ever made. No joke. What didn't you like about it? Was it because Fusion and Zero Mission were much easier than S. Metroid? Did you use a guide, if so, that's a terribly unreasonable way to play this game...it steals all of its ingenuity.

Ditto. Super Metroid is easily the best Metroid game. I'd say it's long overdue for a remake/re-release, though it's usually in stock at ebgames.

My favorite trick was electrocuting one of the bosses with the grappling beam.

I'd chalk it up to QC (not that most EB employees could recognize a bootleg if they saw one). I have received several games that are in such bad condition, I know that no EB (in my area) would take them in trade. But I imagine that there are some EB's that will take anything.

I think the home office just takes them in and ships them back out again; they probably never look at the games.

You'd think Zero Mission was a remake the way it sounded, but I never played it so I can't say. I know darn sure that it probably isn't as good Super Metroid though. Fusion was cool, but waaaaaay too short. Super Metroid seemed a lot longer.

haven't used a guide on any Metroid, 2D or 3D. imo, the controls on the GBA Metroids were much better and more precise than Super Metroid. sure, Super Metroid is nostalgic and all, but that's no reason to say it's better. i've only just gotten ice beam, so granted i'm not very far in, but from what i've played, fusion and zero mission are more fun, albeit easier.
Zero Mission was a remake of the first Metroid.
I'd love to see a remake of the first GBA Metroid. That one is actually my favorite. And it's a great play before you get to Super Metroid.
ooo been waiting for that. i have magic pengel, and i'd heard that grafitti kingdom was going to be pretty rare.
I bought Magic Pengel a couple weeks ago. It's cute, and I haven't played it in a while, but it seemed too simple. Draw dude, fight, win/lose, optionally draw another dude, fight, win/lose, etc.

I'm really surprised that they didn't jump on that once they finished up with Metroid: Zero Mission. It just seemed like it would be a good idea to bring Metroid 2 up to date with added plot and gameplay then either follow with a direct port of Super Metroid or pseudo-direct port of Super Metroid with slight enhancements.

Oh well. We can dream...

So when we're talking about the "first GBA Metroid," we're really talking about the GameBoy game Metroid II: Return of Samus, right? Because that would be freaking awesome.

Sorry to double post, but this had to be said in a big way. Hearing about my Game & Watch 3 dilemma, I got a PM from sheepboy_1923. He said he had a copy sitting around collecting dust and offered it to me. For how much, you ask? Free. He said he wants to give it a good home, one that will play it.

Now don't get me wrong though. He's nice, but he ain't gonna go giving out free crap to everyone, so don't even think about asking him for it. That's not the point of his actions or me posting about this.

Anyway, thank you, sheepboy_1923.

I have Magic Pengel also and it is kinda crappy (love the characters and the lightheartedness/anime feel to it - it reminds me of when I was young watching Super Book). I wished that there was more to explore and it takes quite a while to build up your colors to draw whatever you want.

After seeing some of the models drawn in Graffiti Kingdom I knew I had to try it out. Hopefully it doesn't require too much time to create something good.

Hoorya, I got my Aria of Sorrow in the mail today!

Wait... wait a second... something's wrong... It's a fucking bootleg!

Goddammit! Man, I'm disappointed as hell.
I've been noticing alot of price increases lately....
Seemed to happen a lot last year in-store, as far as I observed in Pittsburgh. A lot of titles had a sudden $3 to $5 price jump, if not $10 on some of the less available titles around the time Halloween came around. A lot of used titles got a bit of a price boost around that time or so, so I'm not really surprised when a few of the $6 titles I was browsing a few weeks ago in the local EB in IN became $10.

More often than not the prices will decrease a little after New Years, when the holiday rush is over and things start to die down a bit. For most titles it's fairly easy to wait since they will still be around (hence the reason I'm waiting on the older Armored Cores, a bit of Zone of the Enders, a few XBox titles), but others...well, that's what the morning update is for. That extra 25 or 26% off makes a world of difference!

Oh, EB, you are starting to disappoint me. I hope these trends don't continue, at least not until the merger is fully complete.

Thanks for the Ogre Battle link! I already have it but I noticed that it's in stock at my local EB. It's AMAZING what they get in but don't put out in the front of the store. Wow.

Huge 64 update.

Missed Illision of Gaia (fucking FireFox), but got OgreBatle 64. Like my first real score ever from the update :p Looks like I might have to add my N64 to the pile of systems in my living room.
