I received a refurbished PS2 as a gift. The problem however is that I already have a PS2 and I don’t see the need for a second one. Being the cheap ass that I am, I would like to return this PS2 to a store for store credit to put towards buying a few games. Which store will give me the most money for a refurbished PS2; EBgames or Gamestop? Thank you very much for your help.

..if you keep the receipt, you can return it to EB and they'll give you full credit for it.. You could probably make decent money for it on EBay, PS2's are in high demand again.
yea unless you have the receipt there gonna give you the same credit as if it was used
I didn't get a gift recipt with it :( . I am not sure where he got it from.

I called in a few weeks ago, It's $70 USD at EBgames, $85 USD at GameStop. Just call them up and ask just to make sure. Your best bet would be to sell it Online you'd get more bang for your buck online than at the store. They also don't give a crap if it's a day new or 3 years old, it's still getting 85 and 70.

Aight sisco1986, thank you very much for your help. ANd thank you to everyone else as well for your help. I will try to sell it for $100, if I can't I will just sell it to GameStop for $85. One quick question however:

Do I need to give the controller in as well with the PS2? Cause I need an extra controller for my PS2 so I might just keep the one that came with the refurbished PS2.

Every time I've seen somebody trade in a system, a controller was needed, along with the cables. I'm almost certain that you do...

Thank you Rig. I was just trying to be a even bigger cheap ass. That is what I thought, but I just wanted to be sure. What I may do is buy a crappy third party controller for a few bucks and trade that in with the system and keep the nice one. You think that will work?

EDIT: What I mean is will GameStop accept a third party controlelr instead of an official one?

Everytime I've seen someone trade in a system at Gamestop with a third party controller, the employee would throw a fit and say they couldn't take it.

Which is weird considering GameInformer.com, whose store is Gamestop.com, sells systems with third party controllers.

EB had a sign last night saying that theyd give you $100 credit with the trade in of 2 select games

You should really ebay it, or put it in your local paper. With the holiday season here, it is the best time to sell your game gear privately. Retail chains are going to give you half of what you could get by selling it to an individual.

 Those are some crazy prices. Who would sell a PS2 for $15 or a Xbox or GameCube for $20. I am attempting to sell my PS2 for $110 to some kid in my school. I hope it goes through. If it does I wil buy another Xbox controller for myself as well as Pre order RE4.

 Who the hell quoted you those prices? The normal GBA is $10 (and I think $6 more if you have the coupon from GMR), the GBA SP is $20, the XBOX is $70 for working and $30 for broken (same for old PS2)...PS1 is $10, and slim PS2 is (last time I checked) something really high like $110.
