EGM October review scores
Yeah, just read their forum and there's people bitching that it's nearly the end of the month and still have not received the september issue. Utter BS that it takes them this long to send them out.

Especially since their site said people should've been receiving them around the 15th. If it wasn't for the fact that I paid for that subscription, I wouldn't give a damn. But since I paid $15 for a year, I expect every damn issue to be delivered.

For those wondering about the September scores, someone posted them already on their site. Here's what the scores are:

Vampire Rain score

I remember thinking it looked cool a long time ago.

LAIR score seems ok. Can't wait to get it this Friday.

Back around 2002-early 2003 (before the redesign) EGM had nice big reviews. Smaller font, most space, less huge pictures for the ADD crowd. They used to have a ton of text to describe most of the games and then they had all 3 reviewiers give their thoughts, in addition to rating graphics, sound, game play, replay, etc.

The magazine now is small, POS that has more pictures and ads than actual text. If it wasn't for free then I wouldn't bother with it.

And no, I didn't receive my fucking Game Informer or EGM's for September either. What's going on here?

The title alone alarmed me of its possible suspect quality :p I also found it funny that a couple retailers got the title confused and would call it Rain Vampire.

Rain Vampire would have been better.

Just imagine, you are walking through the streets then suddenly "Oh shit! Its raining vampires! Get to cover!!"

That would have been Badass

cant confirm them 100%, but here are the rumors

Rumors:
Castlevania coming to ps3/360.
Kingdom Hearts compilations across many platforms (all prequels)
Open World Batman game that won't suck is coming
Wii ware games will be tiny, like 16 bit tiny due to storage.

I hope this is 2D. Please let it be 2D with a budget and entirely newly drawn sprites, or even 3D models on a 2D plane.

Kingdom Hearts compilations across many platforms (all prequels)
This...would be interesting. They'd be able to print money with this series on all platforms. Really, Square is losing out by not doing it. Still, I can't imagine this is true. It would be more likely, I think, if they did this for the Wii since the next game makes sense for that system.

Open World Batman game that won't suck is coming
They say that about EVERY Batman game, and yet everyone does. Let the Crackdown developers have a crack at it.

Wii ware games will be tiny, like 16 bit tiny due to storage.
This makes sense.
Luminous Arc is far from crap... When it comes to RPGs reviewers don't know shit. My favorite RPG this year after Persona 3 is Ar Tonelico. I think we all know how well that did with reviewers. Eternal Sonata and Wild Arms 5=Day 1 purchases. And I know I'll enjoy almost every minute of both.

I don't understand this "I really wanted to get this game, and I enjoyed the demo. But some random person I don't know from Adam said he didn't like it. Guess I won't get it!" mentality. If you think a game looks good then give it a try. You'll be surprised how many times you end up loving something the press tries to tell you to hate.
As an RPG fanatic, I've learned that a game I liked and a game that's actually good is two separate thing. If you're an RPG fanboy such as myself, you pretty much add 2-5 points to every RPG EGM reviews.

With all that's been said, I'm in the same boat as Rei... 90% of my stuff I pick up get poor reviews, but I have enjoyed them alot more than most high scoring games. Most of this is due to research I do before getting any of my games.

Any details on why they rated Eternal Sonata the way they did? That "Tales" style gameplay is exactly what I think the 360 is missing right now and I had all intention of getting it.
EGM was going to dock Warhawk a point if it was over $30 correct? So are those scores really a 9.5, 8, 9.5?
That was IGN, I believe. But even if it was EGM, it would be only ONE reviewer's score going up.

I hope the game is an XBLA/download service game. That way it can have a lower budget and be the same style as the new PSP game. The last thing a Castlevania fan would want is a big next-gen Castlevania game that sells like crap and makes Konami never try again.

Wartech: Senko No Ronde (360) 3.75

man, all critics went way too harsh on this game. easily one of the most unique and fun 360 games out now.
Careful on Heavenly Sword. I've heard its a 6 hour game. $60 for a 6 hour game just is too much IMO.
Depends. Not trying to defend Heavenly Sword, but if there is a game out there that is amazing and 6 hours long it is worth $60. Too many people require games to be SUPER long, I'd rather play an amazing 6 - 10 hour game that is amazing top to bottom I would take it. It isn't always about the quanity it is moreso about the quality.

ICO was worth $50 to me too.

Careful there , it almost sounds like an Xbox 360 compliment . ;)
Careful there , it almost sounds like an Xbox 360 compliment . ;)
Hehe, I have a 360. I've sold it to my cousin to get a premium with HDMI however.

Want to settle this in SFII? ;)

Totally agreed. I plan on getting Heavenly Sword regardless of the scores. I have been anxious to play this game since I played the demo. Also dallow makes a good point I thought both of those games were worth $50-$60 and there were around 6-7 hrs. IMO if you're interested in something then give it a shot, don't just avoid it because it gets low scores. Maybe rent it or buy it cheap if it gets low scores everywhere, but not to try a game you were wanting to because someone else didn't like it is dumb.

No , I suck at fighting games .

This is why there are videogame rental stores.

Hell, BioShock was 20+ hours and I'm still glad I only rented it.

I don't mind short games (in fact, I actually prefer them to super long ones), but I'll wait for the price on them to come down first because $60 doesen't justify a 6 hour experience imo.

Some of us busier folks can't finish a 20+ hour game in a single rental :p

Hell, it took me at least a month just to get through RE4... getting older sucks.

It was only one of the reviewers at 1up/EGM (the first 8.5) and it seems like he wrote his review again, as it seems more fitting to the score and not like a mis-scored review.

Those are pretty much correct. The Castlevania one just says "a console version of Castlevania," so take that as you please.

I've also got the smaller Q-Tips:

-Naughty Dog will be working on Jak and Daxter 4 after Uncharted's done.
-The PSP version of The Elder Scrolls is cancelled.
-Okami coming to the Wii.
-A popular broken-up band will re-unite, just for Guitar Hero III.

1. Oh God please let it be true. I loved the Jak games (Jak and Daxter not so much).
2. Meh
3. Meh
4. N'Sync

- Just when I was starting to fear that the end of platformers was upon us. Now all I need is a new Sly game and I'll be happy.
- I've seen this rumor before. The game never seemed like a good idea
- I thought this was already announced.
- I love this competition between Rock Band and GH3. First one to get AC/DC wins.
