ELITE Controller: is the DPAD fixed?

Ruined

CAGiversary!
I heard the Elite controller has some differences from the standard controller.

Here is the big question: is the DPAD any better?

Nope, not fixed. At least mine arent. I bought the Elite + an extra black controller. Its the same exact thing as the white one, except its black.
you know you could always pick up a hori X360 controller....
Already have two - but they are wired and the sticks/triggers/shoulders arent as good as the first party controller IMO.
Whats wrong with the DPad on the xbox controllers?
It's utterly useless for anything that requires precision.

are there any good 3rd party pads? (I've tried the hori pad, I found it to be too flat and tight....like ur mom...er...)

a fact many people overlook when they say the 360 controller is a perfect controller.

I guess it's hard to notice unless you play alot of the old-school games on XBLA. But yeah D:....

ya 360 controller is my favorite I've used yet, but that D-pad can get kind of annoying. You don't use it that much though, so I just kind of ignore it.

If only there was a way to put the steallar D-Pad from the Wii's Classic Controller into the 360 Gamepad, it'd be the best standard controller ever made.

As it is, I still think it is the best, it just needs an asterisk next to that rating.

I think I read somewhere that Nintendo owns the rights to that type of directional pad, that's why Sony and Microsoft's directional pads are the way they are.

You'd think that even if they couldn't use that exact design that Nintendo wouldn't have a copyright on the concept of a good, working Dpad. I never could stand the segmented PlayStation one, and the Xbox/360 one, while somewhat better, is not even close to being good.

Oh well. :(

Yeah it sucks but just ask Sony and Immersion about copyright issues and controllers....

Saturn pad had the best d pad. The only pad where I could pull of spinning pile drivers every time!

The 360 pad blows. Even during switching weapons in Gears of War it messes up.

Yeah, it's literally bad enough that you cannot reliably use it for a single button press every once in awhile. It doesn't make any sense... the 360 pad is great for the most part, but they completely fucked up the D-pad even though they managed to get everything else right.

Or play Oblivion. It's impossible to use all 8 sections of the wheel, I can only use 4.

Where are people finding the hori pad in stock? I've been wanting to get one but seems like its out of stock everywhere.

First thing I noticed with the new black controller was that the D-pad seemed more responsive, at least in the dashboard.

Perhaps it's just not broken in yet.

It causes problems at least once, every time I use the dashboard.

Correct, but Sega was able to use the same d pad for dreamcast by paying royalty to nintendo.

Well MS should pony up some cash and get these things straightened out. I honestly think it's the best controller I've ever used but the D-pad is a total piece of crap. Even entering text is a pain in the ass since you can rarely get the D-pad to click in the same direction twice in a row.
