email accounts hacked ... someone sending nasty emails under my name

is there anything i can do...

i got a phone call from the local campus police from a campus i went to around 3 or 4 years ago.... they said someone using my email address is sending nasty letters to teachers on campus and want it stopped. They said this happened a few months ago but stopped but if it starts up again i can have charges pushed on me..

is there anything i can do to see what the hell is going on.... the person on the phone would not give me any details on what the letters were

when i went into my account i see that someone sent something from my account but im not going to click on the link Who the hell knows what it is

Even if you ever did get charges pressed against you as soon as you walk into court they would see you are obviously of diminished mental capacity and drop all accusations.
CAG is being really weird with this time warping of the posts.
Maybe that's what happened with the emails too? They're trying to prosecute Slidecage for emails he is ABOUT to send!

the person on the phone goes yea that is one account these emails came from and then goes off an names another 10 that i never even heard from... my main problem is if they got my email address could they gotten my info , since one of the screenname is also linked up to a business i order stuff from.

i sort of find it funny that i go that my school email is linked to that email is there anyway someone could hacked into the school account to get into my personal back up accounts...I also then go and try to tell them i havent even been in that school for years so why would i be sending messages to these teachers and they wouldnt even listen to me.. They just kept saying IF IM DOING IT THEY WANT IT STOPPED...

i then ask is there anyway they got my info from my old school account (since its still active cause they never cancel them and

the cop goes NO , there is no way it happen on our end, .... they said if it happens again they will track down the IP address....

is the IP address linked to the emails or computers ... meaning if someone got my account on another pc would their IP be different then what i have.....

how about people stop being #$#$#$ and put real info if they have anything about the topic... i sort of find it BS that this happened back around NOV 28 2009 yet they just call me now..so whoever hacked into my account was given 6+ weeks to steal any and all info they wanted ... if they had a problem they should of contacted me day 1 not wait 6 weeks... Im going to probaly be going over there this week or next and see what the hell is going on

No fucking around. If you take pictures of the whole trip and post them I will paypal you $2.
How is the grammar in the e-mails?
there is a link in the email.. what im not going to click cause i have no idea what the link goes to... im hoping when i go into the office at school they will have a copy of what the emails say.... for now i changed my password. I can delete the accounts but in a way that makes it look like im trying to hide something by taken the accounts down....

When i did ask the person on the line the first time why they never called me eariler they never answered it and said if it happens again they will track it by IP address.... again i have nothing to hide since i did nothing (why would i send the teachers nasty emails when i had nothing to do with them for 5+ years,)

went into a few of the places i had that email hooked with and it looks like nothing was ordered from them ... this just pissed me off that they knew this happened 6 weeks back BUT then wait till now to contact me...

i dont think i have anything to worry about cause the IP addresses will NOT LINE up, but then again there is a program that allows people to use fake IP addresses....I think if they want to push the issue if this happens again i will just file a counter suit against the school for withholding this info from me for 6 weeks, allowing whoever to hacked into my account to cause personal harm to me for these 6 weeks they knew about this .....

well if noone has any REAL info they would like to help me on this issue Please do not Post here ....I was just wondering How much trouble they could do ... like i said the first name i told them Yea thats mine but the other 9+ emails i said i never even used or heard from (some gmail addresses that i dont even use Gmail)

Please calm down! Take a deep breath.

It is quite obvious that it is your mailman who is doing this. He realized that you were only mildly upset when he ran over your Pokemon cartridge and has decided to go for the throat!

You guys are mean.

When they said that they were going to trace your IP, I would have told them to stop acting like douches then and just trace the IP now. If you didn't send the e-mails, of course it will be a different IP address.

That being said, it sounds like they were being jerks and I don't see why they would threaten tracing if they were capable of just doing it to start with. It's probably a friend messing with you...

nope it wasnt a friend. it did come from the campus police department (name showed up on my id box) what is sort of stupid why would one person send a nasty email to people using 10 different addresses if all of them came back sent by the same person..

just got me worried when it first happen but now that i sort of settled down im not really worried about it, cause i think they will have a harder time proving that i did something that i would have to prove that i did not (i think they will have a hell of a time in getting Yahoo to release Ip addresses)

what i dont like as well is Why didnt none of these teachers email me back asking me why i sent this.. At least 2 of the teachers that got the email were nice to me and never had any problems with them or me.... I think someone hacked into my address book and sent the message to all of them

I wouldn't even trust your caller I'd. Perhaps you should look up the number for the police and see if it matches.

Also, if you got along with a couple of the teachers, call them directly and tell them what is going on and that you are trying to find out who is using your account. If they are tech savvy, have them send you a copy of the email along with a copy of the full header so you can try to track the sending ip address yourself.

You should also use a random password generator and change the password on all of your accounts at the same time. Nowadays, all our email accounts are linked together and if you can get into one of the
then you can request the passwords for other accounts.

Finally, and most importantly, something smells really fishy about the whole thing to me. Your best bet would be to hire a lawyer whospecialists in electronic/online law. I know one that has some experience in that area, but is probably not local to you. Also, these types of lawyers tend to be expensive.
