Emeryville TRU is closing -Details inside

Xevious

CAGiversary!
I was at the Emeryville, CA TRU and everything is on sale 10% to 30% off.

In regards to video games:

1. There is a table for $9.99 videogames. From what I saw, there were a ton of Tron (Xbox), Killzone (Ps2), Some copies of Doom 3 regular edition (xbox), Lots of Blood Rayne 2 (mostly Xbox but other versions too).

2. There was a sign that said "Videogame accessories 30% off"

3. All other videogames were 10% off

All this may change in the future but for now, thats what I can report. Its too bad to because I actually like that Toys R Us. The people there are very helpful and as far as I am concerned, much better at customer service than EB games, Best Buy, etc. When I was looking for a toy for my 1 year old nephew, I had help from not just one but 2 people. Its all a damn shame.

A lot of those people that work at that TRU are a little bit older and I assume they are supporting their families and paying their rent. I hope they all find good jobs after the store closes.

Looks like someone at Fatwallet noticed. Here is what they posted:
The Toyrus store located in Emeryville, CA will be closed this March, so starting TODAY (1/7/2006), everything there is on closing clearance. EVERYTHING is at least 10% off, up to 70% off plus an additional 30% off. Every video game is at least 10% off, every video game accessaries is at least 30% off.

And there are lots of video games on sale at $9 each. (e.g. Doom 3 for XBox, Kill Zone for PS2, Metroid Prime 2 for GameCube....)

I went there on Sunday, looking for a wireless 360 controller, but all they had left were 360 memory cards and some 360 games.

Sucks that these people are losing their jobs, I was lucky that our store was not one of the stores being shut down. From what I hear though, a lot of these closed stores are being converted into Babies R Us'.

they will be losing their jobs. all of the employees of the closing stores have to re-apply to the new store.

with best buy on one side of the street and gamestop on the other, and two walmarts within 15 miles away,It's easy to see why TRU is closing that store. It still sucks though

Thanks, also are there signs around the video game section or store window indicating how much the discounts are, or does the cashier just tell you about the sale?

last time I was there, signs were everywhere in the R-Zone.

Is there anything really worth taking the F bus from Berkeley for? It's not a long ride but since the bus comes once ever half an hour, waiting for it is a pain if one of the buses come late.

Its kinda hit or miss. The best deals are whats on the bargin table really and that gets changed every so often.

I say get a ride from someone if you can....or a bike.

Has anyone been able to pick up Baten Kaitos w/ bonus for the green tag price in any of the bay area TRUs? There's a ton of copies at the Daly City TRU.
I heard that this has been bumped up to 20% and 40%? Can anyone confirm if this is true?
Yup it has been 20%/40% for a week now. I was there last Tuesday and got an XBox 360 Live 12 months cards for $30. The selection isnt that great anymore, lots of crap games and very little accessaries (mostly 3rd party starter kits). Better hurry.

Yah i was just there at too... still 20%/40% on games/accessories. As we know TRU marks high on their games so the 20% off still isn't great. Not much accessories left other than a new XBox 360 face plates, S-Video cable, Component cables, 3-Month Live starter kit, 3 mos and 1 month Live cards. They still got quite a bit of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat left (20% off), but not much of anything else. Their strategy guides are still 20% off, mostly not-as-recent games like Jade Empire, Chaos Theory, PDZ, Q4, NFSMW, etc. The $10 table got lots of Tron for XBox and 5 or so Giest, as Freshwillis said, they're $8. The GBA $10 bin has lots of Poker games and F-Zero and some war game. Toys are still only 20% off, with bikes 25% and DVDs/VHS at 30% off.
SOS Trooper, do they still have that metallic blue Xbox 360 faceplate?
Yes, but only 1 left when I visited yesterday. They also got 1 silver left, as well as one 3rd party Tsz army style plate.

I live in downtown Oakland and we go to that TRU all the time for my sons' toys. I'm not really a Babies R US fan, way too expensive. I'll have to go take a look at the games, been meaning to go since I heard about it on the news.

I see that some other TRU stores hit 30% off games. People who went to TRU today let us know if its 30% off games as well at this location.

Almost nothing is left in this TRU now. Only multiple copies of crappy games (Spiderman DS, Tony Hawk DS, Tron XB, Polarium, GBA Poker games, and bargin bin games, and lots of 3rd party accessaries. Although they still got Donkey Kong Jungle Beat w/ Bongos for $29 after 50% off. They also got extra official Nintendo Bongoes for $15 each. Still got some XBox 360 component cables for $15, lots of newere guides still there (marked up to $15-$20 each before 50% off), DVD section's cleaned out, most board games are cleaned out as well. As of now they're advertised as 50%-70% off.
