So Lay, who blames short-sellers, journalists and Andy Fastow for the collapse of the company he ran, now raises the specter of an evil robot signing loan documents without his knowledge. Call it the Gort defense. Like the silver robot from The Day the Earth Stood Still, there was no stopping the evil Autopen. Lay forgot to say "Klaatu barada nikto."
