Well, the other topic was had some complaints over some of the terminology used to describe the early concepts, and in light of the first hard information regarding the title, it might be best to have a new topic. I'll update this with a summary and new info as it surfaces.

Anyways, onto the Game Informer scans!
Pikawil's photobucket account has all 10 pages of the GI article:

The following links are a few of the same pages from the above link (Not all of them), but these scans are much easier to read (From GameFAQs):

And, just in case the scans are removed, an outline of the article from GoNintendo:
As Game Informer has been hyping for weeks now, their latest issue features a huge spread on Epic Mickey. You get your first look at in-game screens and brand-new art, as well as Mickey's redesign, and a host of other characters. Trust me, you're going to want to run out and pick up this issue for yourself, just to get a look at all the visuals!

Obviously, I cannot show you the screens or art on here, but thanks to Hero of Legend, I can give you the first details!

- Mickey's appearance is much, much closer to his original debut style
- Disney was the one to approach Spector
- Spector originally was against the idea of creating a Mickey game, because he said that he didn't do kids games
- Spector changed his mind when Disney said that they were looking for someone to 'reinvigorate' Mickey
- Disney had to get back the rights to Oswald before he could be used in this game
- the sorcerer Yensid creates a pen-and-paper world for his forgotten creations, which is where Oswald lives
- this world is similar to Walt Disney World
- Mickey enters this world through a magic mirror, and accidentally spills paint and paint thinner on the drawing of this world. Mickey escapes before Yensid finds out.
- The spill that Mickey caused ends up turning the drawing into a twisted version of what was originally created.
- the Phantom Blot ends up taking over this world
- many years later, after Mickey becomes successful, he re-enters the mirror and sees what has happened to the world. The Phantom Blot drags Mickey into the world, which is where your adventure begins
- use the Wiimote to paint in buildings, platforms and more
- swipe away enemies with the Wiimote when using paint thinner
- create/destroy the world as you go along
- Junction Point took hundreds of photos while at Disney World in order to capture the essence of the park, and translate ideas into the game
- play the game as you like, either destroying everything in sight, or taking the hero's route. It's completely up to you, and you can mix-and-match play styles
- Gremlin Village is reminiscent of 'It's a Small World'
- Mickey's appearance and stance will change based on the way you play the game
- trade some items for health
- Pete returns, and at one point attacks you with a huge zepplin
- Donald Duck animatronic pieces are scattered throughout one portion of the game. Collect them to put him back together.
- Spector wants this game to scare kids, in some ways
- the game will also have funny parts
- Spector calls the game world's visuals 'the bastard child of Tim Burton and Disney'
- elements of platforming, exploration and role-playing
- go into the inner-workings of some levels and rides
- visit the gears and mechanics underneath the 'It's a Small World' ride, complete with an eerie re-imagining of the music
- enter movie screens to move from in-game island to island
- movie screen transitions put you into a 2d world, where you'll revisit some of Mickey's old cartoons
- find sketches, and bring them to life with your paintbrush
- sketches can be activated to give you new powers (clock sketch to slow time, TV sketch to distract enemies, and more)
- collect 'E-Tickets' to enter rides, and use as a form of currency to buy power-ups
- Jim Dooley 'Pushing Daises' is doing the soundtrack

Warren Spector on Mickey

"I want him to be a hero...and I want to remind him that it's okay to behave badly."

Warren on Oswald

"All he really wants is to be loved by Walt Disney. In the end, the Blot won the war and pushed Oswald into hiding and exile."

Warren on the Gremlins

"The Gremlins are the only forces of good in the world that can continue to fight against the Blot.

Warren on the Bunny Kids

"These are going to be the breakout stars of the game. Mark my words."

Warren on the Buddies (Donald, Goofy, ect.)

"Oswald is trying to recreate Mickey's life, so he has the Mad Doctor build these animatronic versions of his buddies."

Warren on the Mad Doctor

"He's from an early 30's cartoon that is pretty swell."

Warren on the Phantom Blot

"The Phantom Blot has been a consistent villain since 1939. He's just been lame."

Warren on the Blotlings

"They're the popcorn unit. You need something that the player can just swat away. They're supposed to be funny, silly and stupid."

Warren on the Beetleworx

"In order to deal with these guys, you have to erase their painted bits to get to the vulnerable inert spots underneath."

"What I want to do in this game is take the best of Mario, Zelda, Ratchet & Clank, and Deus Ex,
and throw them all together into one package, and see what we come up with." - Warren Spector

Yup. And like Tetsuya Nomura, he's apparently a huge Disney fan.

But without the belt and zipper stuff.

As a Disney fan, I have high hopes for this one. It's the only Wii game that I'm interested in for me. Other than that, I consider the Wii my kid's gaming platform.

And they're 4 and 1 1/2.

Sigh.

This game has gotten me excited for a mickey mouse game and I have not felt that way since Mickey for the Genesis.

Agh, looks like complete crap. Why did they have to release the concept art first? It is called "concept art" because it gives the conceptual look of the game. Bah-humbug.

The opening cinematic was revealed today:

It might also be worth mentioning these older videos that were released over the past few months:
Comic-Con 2010 trailer, focusing on some of the other side-scrolling levels (Plutopia, Oh what a Knight) and an action stage:

Part 2

That cinematic is pure Mickey bliss.

As for the gameplay, I'm not looking forward to hearing Mickey yell 'oh!' every time I jump. It got old 1:30 in. As much jumping you do in platformers, it will get old real quick.

The game looks pretty dang good. I've got a pre-order in with Gamestop.com when they had the coupon that worked with pre-orders that required $70 minimum or some such number, in order to get a different pre-order at a discount. Guess I'll be sticking with my pre-order for Epic Mickey!

1up asked Warren Spector about the removal of the scrapper skin, and he shed quite a bit of light on the situation:
http://www.1up.com/news/warren-spector-explains-scrapper-mickey

A little bit after E3, we heard a story about how Disney Epic Mickey creative director Warren Spector removed the idea of a "Scrapper" Mickey due to comments from a focus test. During Gamescom 2010, when asked to clarify that statement, he provided the interesting reply below:

"Let me start by saying, I have never, and I will never, make a design change as a result of a focus test. It has not happened at any point in my 27 years, and it will not happen. I will quit if that happens -- if you ever catch me doing that, that will be last thing I ever do in the games business, okay?

What I have done, is about three years ago when we first started thinking about this, we did over a thousand versions of Mickey -- I'm assuming this is where this started. So we did a focus test because I had a thousand different looks for the character, and people just said, 'don't mess with Mickey.' When you make a game, you make this creative box, and you try to figure out what fits in the box. You can do anything with Mickey Mouse or any character. So I said, 'let's test the extremes,' and there were things that were too radical. Game fans, Mickey fans, they didn't want to go that far.

So three years ago, I said, 'Alright, that's too radical; we're not going to go that far with Mickey.' And I think I mentioned that at E3, and someone assumed that that happened this past Christmas. And so, 'Warren Spector got rid of the Scrapper because of a focus test!' And it's not true. The idea of the Scrapper Mickey went away because I didn't like it. There was no focus test. If there were any focus tests done last fall, no one ever told me they were happening or gave me any data about it.

It just didn't happen. People must have just put two and two together; 'focus tested in 2007' and a statement I made personally and creatively in November of last year, and they put two and two together and made five. Yes, I did ditch the Scrapper idea, and I did it because I just didn't like it. The reason the Scrapper existed was the same reason we had Mickey in all sorts of different costumes that changed his abilities. I ended up not liking that idea, so we cut it. Scrapper existed because I wanted a way to show on-screen how you interacted with the world was changing the world and Mickey. That was the best I could come up.

But right around October or November, one of my game directors said, 'I have an idea, hear me out,' and he had some concept art of the little paint guardians -- these little helpers that appear and are drawn to you based on your play-style. I looked at his art and I read his spec, and I thought, 'Jesus, this is better than what we had; it's better than what I came up with.' And so I just ditched the Scrapper. You don't need purple pants and green shoes when you have this whole new character that adds a richness to the game instead. "

As you can see from his reply, Spector objected to the implication that he'd make sweeping design changes based on focus groups. We'll see for ourselves whether his decision to use paint guardians over Mickey's changing appearance when Epic Mickey ships later this year.

Huh. You'd think they'd have more remote faceplates than console skins (since Wii owners generally have one Wii and likely more than one remote). No steelbook or artbook either. At least there's nothing digital in there.

I suppose for the Wii, which gets basically no CEs, it's better than nothing.

I think alot of folks would probably have wanted an artbook with this.

Game looks interesting but the name is odd, it sounds like a sex move.

The figure is nice and I don't think the skins are too bad, at least if they are easily removable, but none of it seems $20 good. Oh well. I have a pre-order in with gamestop at a discount (when they had a coupon that applied to pre-orders), so I won't be getting the collector's edition either way.

Is this game coop in any way, and if so, who is the 2nd player? What can they do? Just single player?

That's one weak ass collector's edition you get for $20.

Why not toss in the Mickey Artbrush Nunchuck instead? Sure it's not limited, but they could have done a different color paint on the brush or something, burn Mickey's signature into the "wood" maybe. Hell anything would be better than fucking Wii skins.

I would really like to buy this at launch but I just can't. I love Warren Spector and this game looks great but I just have to wait for a price drop or two, I just can't justify paying $50 for this with all the other stuff coming out this fall.

I was tempted to get the CE since the Wii never gets any. But after seeing everyone bash it, I'll stick with the standard.

They definitely should have included that nunchuk. It's actually kinda cool.

Just a heads up to the collectors out there that Epic Mickey is receiving a collector's edition. The standard retails for $49.99, and the collector's for $69.99. The extra $20 gets you:

Disney Epic Mickey Software
5" Collectible Vinyl Figure
Special Edition DVD with behind the scenes footage and other marketing materials and videos
Wii Remote Faceplate and Wii console skins

Interestingly, Amazon does not offer the $10 gaming credit for this edition. However, they are selling a pretty cool paintbrush nunchuk. For bigtime Disney/Mickey fans, some of this stuff looks pretty cool. I'm looking forward to the game.

If you feel like flaming because this isn't a deal, please just pass and let the thread die. I just wanted to give a heads up to those who might be interested.

I'm glad to see a game like this getting a collector's edition. They don't get them very often, at least that I have seen. I think if I get the game I will stick with the standard, I don't see much to make it worth the extra cost for me.

The paintbrush nunchuk is pretty cool. If your in need of a nunchuk it would be nice to have something a little different from all the others. I never thought of them releasing something like that, I really like it.

Yea, I agree. It's too bad that the paintbrush controller isn't part of the CE. I'd pay an extrea $20 for it and the figure.

Yeah, that's a good point. If they had the nunchuk in there I would definitely get the CE, but as it is I don't really think it is worth it... unless you are a fan of Disney or something like that.

Right. Either way, the game looks really promising. I'm actually excited about Nintendo's Fall lineup. Mickey, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Zelda, the 3DS. I won't have played this much Nintendo since I lived in Greece and all I had was a Gameboy SP!
a figurine that is probably crap for $20 more

fail
This would have been the most appropriate time to say "epic fail" and you epically failed to do so. Shame on you.

OP, this is the Disney Collector's Edition you should have started a thread for:

With the paintbrush controller the price for this CE should have $80 rather than $70, which I think is a better config than this bundle.

we seriously need a fucking forum called
"Video Games Announcements and Releases"

or make a damn single thread that will hold all these MSRP "deals" on the sticky section so we stop this bullshit

that way, i can either ignore the failures of CEs that are just coming out or praise a single developer who actually did it right.

+3 (or whatever we're up to) on posting SRP CE announcements. Lame.

So buy the regular game and the nunchuck and forgo the overpriced plastic figure. Homebrew LE.
