Epic Mickey wii $14.99 AC at ToysRUs - NOT Dead

Wblaze

CAGiversary!
Hello All --

Just got back from ToysRUs in Columbia, MD. Epic Mickey for the Wii rang up at $24.99 and then they took the $10 gamer mag coupon. Out the door for $14.99 before tax. Not bad at all even if this game is just average
Also, there are four Pokemon games for $5 each: Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time, Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness, Ranger Shadows of Almia, and Ranger Guardian Signs. I picked up each of them.
I know you said you just got it but...

Are you sure Explorers of Time is $5? The TRU I was just at said it wasn't. I took the guys word for it since he was pretty knowledgeable and everything was tagged. I don't mind if I have to make a second trip back cause I need to get my egg for Pokemon Black.

I was just thinking about these pokemon eggs and what the procedure would be like if BB ever decided to do something like that. I'm pretty sure it would involve a retinal scan, several stickers on your DS, and a team of 3 yellow shirts, 11 blueshirts, and a geek squad member to escort you to the download station. Followed by an ID check, thumbprint, and copy of your state-issued ID (and you better not be a 13-year old that doesn't have any ID or else the local PD is getting called in).

Yes it is, somebody just didn't sign it.

I scanned Explorers of Time on Sunday, and it was $29.99.

Got Epic Mickey for $14.99 + tax. Sweet deal!

*warning* If employee tells you that the coupon can not stack on top of the already reduced price, make them try it...........because IT DOES stack up.

I was near the TRU again tonight, so I decided to stop in and check out the Pokemon games. I've never played a Pokemon game before, but for the price it's worth a try. I was especially interested in the Mystery Dungeon titles, since they're supposedly essentially a rougelike. I grabbed Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Ranger: Shadows of Almia. They were out of the other two.

So if I have those two, is it worth searching out the others? The back of Explorers of Darkness says that the contents are "almost the same" as Explorers of Time, so I assume it's probably not worth bothering to seek the other one out? What about Ranger: Guardian Signs? Worth it if I've got Shadows of Almia?

The two types of Mystery Dungeon titles are kind of like the normal Pokemon games such as Black/White, HeartGold/SoulSilver, Red/Blue, etc. where you have some Pokemon exclusive to each version. So you only need one of them.

The two Ranger games appear to be separate and independent.

Went back to my TRU and grabbed Explorers of Time for $5. Had the guy as before and said people online were saying it was $5, he was skeptical, but price checked it for me. He was pretty shocked at all the savings I had today. Over $100 between 3 Pokemon games and Epic Mickey.

I thought Time and Darkness would be a little more different then they are. I didn't really read up on them until I was headed back to TRU for Explorers of Time. That's ok since I was getting it as a duplicate for my daughter so we could both play through the games.

I'm going to hunt around and see if I can find a TRU in the area with Ranger Guardian Signs in-stock along with another copy of Ranger Shadows of Almia also for my daughter. I know my daughter would love to play them and as a new Pokemon fan I'm curious so 2 copies would be nice, but it's mostly to satisfy the CAG in me.

Got 2 copies of epic mickey for $15 plus tax each. Thanks OP! Was marked $49.99 on the shelf but rang up $24.99.

Thinking of trading them to BB for $25 credit each.

I did this today. Pretty sweet deal: thinking about using that $50 + the $10 from the Portal 2 deal to get L.A. Noire.
What "gamer mag" is the op talking about, pls, ne1?
Free magazine / sales flyer at TRU - see entry no. 11 on page 1 for image of magazine.

Thanks very much. I did a search after going through a few pages here and possibly missing it but it never hurts to update...

Picked one up on Route 1 in Princeton, NJ

They had quite a few left as of a few hours ago and the magazine was out.

Thanks for the heads up! $16.74, great price!

So why not pick up 4 copies of Epic Mickey for $16 and some change and flip them at BB for $100 worth of store credit? Seing as how Epic Mickey is one of the games on the trade 2 for $50 credit list?

Easy $35

BB -- in theory -- only takes 3 copies per person. Nobody at BB knows anything, so sometimes they refuse to take more than 1, other times they will take up to 5. So if you are doing that, you need a friend to come with you (probably).

Also, bringing in 3x a copy tips them off to the fact that there is an arbitrage opportunity and then they get all upset about the fact that you are making money (even though they are making money too).

EDIT: but what you were saying is what I basically did to get a copy for free (bought 4 copies, traded in three = one free epic mickey for me).

If they don't want to do it then they loose money on a potential sale and possibly anything else that may catch my eye while I'm in the store. The prices on Amazon, TRU, Gamestop, and Wal-mart have caused my purchases at BB to be minimal the last 3 years. They can start all the used game programs they want but in the end they should be thankful anyone shopping for games even sets foot in that place.

Problem is that when they decide they don't want to do it, there is about a 50/50 chance that they give you the games back and you can leave vs. them taking the games in back, calling the cops, and then you have to hang around forever to get your games back.

Thanks OP. I bought 1 copy and traded it to best buy for $25 and bought MvC3. That's good enough for me cause I saved some dough on a game I wanted.

Was headed to BB to buy something else and saw a TRU on my way. Stopped in, grabbed 3 epic mickey and traded them in to use towards my $72 + tax purchase. So in the end my BB purchase only costs me $50 (that I spent at TRU) + $3. Savad about $20. Not bad for 5 minutes of work.

What? Do you personally know of someone this has happened to? Please give me their contact info as I have a few friends that are lawyers that would have a field day with this if it truly did happen.

BB cannot take your games that you purchased elsewhere to the back of the store and call the cops. You didn't break any laws! If they tried to do that you should leave the store and be pressing charges, not hanging around. If they tried to detain you they would be in even more trouble.

Are your local TRU's letting you get more than 1 copy during the same visit? Coupon states "only one per guest" I've purchased 2 on two different occasions.

One transacation with all 3 copies and only 1 coupon and it takes $10 off each.

Well, it happened to my wife, and I am a lawyer, so uh, thanks for the offer, but suing BB is not worth the trouble.

EDIT: and when you get like 5 epic mickeys, they scan one coupon and it takes 10 bucks off of all of them. Earlier in the thread somebody got 30 off of two games, because I think that they scanned it (and it took off 10 from each) and then the cashier probably forced through another -10 manually, not realizing what it had done.

And I say 50/50 because the cop incident happened when I had my wife try and we were talking about it with a friend who wanted to try and just got rejected, without the cops (but at a different BB). BB is F'n crazy, y'all.

You never know. They'd probably settle out of court.

Funny how the coupon says 1 time use yet all that is needed is one scan to buy 5 copies. Gotta love the fine print on the coupons that never get enforced.

Guess I'll be taking a 5 min drive to TRU and picking up another 5 copies.

Take 3 to one BB and 3 to another, LOL.

Well I'm a police officer, and if they hold you there they are committing a crime. So to me it would be worth the lawsuit.

You should really write to best buy corporate, they should be concerned enough to get in touch with you, particularly if you mention that you have entertained the thought of contacting an attorney. Problem is shopkeeper laws are pretty narrow in what situations they can detain someone and from what you're telling us, that certainly doesn't necessitate detaining someone and could end up being a tort of false imprisonment.
Man u hoarders suck there's no copies where I'm at

It IS annoying when people buy multiples to flip for a small profit, preventing people who just want ONE copy to play from even getting it.

Agreed. I bet half these tools don't even have a Wii.

Word
I love CAG and love the information I've gotten here over the years as its landed me some sweet deals but what ever happened to buying games to just, ya know, play the games. A lot of times hoarders and career flippers ruin it for those of us who just want a good deal and go pick up one copy of a game.

it's hard to find one that doesn't own a wii, price dropping to $150

Not to mention that many CAGS that still didn't have a Wii around Christmas got one but basically paid nothing for it new. Last Christmas Wal-Mart was giving $100 gift card for the purchase of a PS3, $100 for purchase of Xbox360, and $75 gift card for the purchase of the Wii. Everyone bought all 3 then flipped the PS3 and Xbox360. Basically everyone was getting the Wii for free courtesy of Wal-mart as the gift cards were being used routinely for groceries anyways.

I was just back at TRU yesterday. Bought 6 more copies at $15 + tax a pop. Manager was like "we have $30 of these, so please taken them off our hands." Traded 3 into best buy just now for $75 gift card hassle free.

So in spite of people here asking to buy a copy at cost + time, b/c they would like to play the game, you instead just drop a post bragging about what the past page has been condemning?

Tactful. Way to give back to the CAG community.

I think he was pointing out the fact that there were still 30+ copies left. Plenty for whoever actually wants the game.

Exactly. I wasn't trying to brag about anything, but rather simply explaing what went down at my local stores.

I don't feel sorry for any of you that are complaining because you haven't purchased the game at this point (this deal has been going on for a while). I admit I purchased multiple copies; however, there have been multiple copies that are left. If you really want the game at that price get off your lazy butts and quit complaining and just purchase the game before someone else (hoarder or flipper) does. If you are thinking about buying one later for a friend or relative buy a few copies right away and return it later if you don't need it (I bet you'd probably trade it in to make profit at best buy or other place if it was convenient enough). There are flippers that are extreme and brag, but at least they're not lazy. Maybe you can meet El Hoardo if you wake up early enough and tell him/her what you think.

I bought two copies and there was around 10+ left. I guess it depends on the store...

Perhaps you should heed your own advise and do a little more research before you try and blindly call someone out. In post #14 of my thread here I was giving the CAG community a heads up about the very deal in question way back on the 24th:
