I've been waiting to get this game forever and may finally pick it up for $15 with the GGC. I saw this today at the Best Buy I work at, and I'm too lazy to check if this price drop is across the board or if its even on Best Buy's website. But hey, it's a good deal.

I heard they're taking down the online servers March 31st for certain Sega Sports games. Not sure if this one is included, though.

Isn't that for the ps2 Leagues?

Eh, still waiting for ESPN NBA to drop that cheap. Madden I think is still a tad bit better than ESPN, but they're getting closer.

I like Madden more just because I am used to it. I had actually switched over from NFL2k to Madden when I got a Gamecube and peer presure.

It is the PS2 stuff they are shutting down I believe. I think that Xbox Live service actually runs Sega's stuff.

It's just the ps2 leagues that are being shut down, not ps2 online. The ps2 ESPNs were the online version that featured customizable leagues, but since those weren't popular theyre ending this month. But its just the leagues, not the online play.

too much hate on Bestbuy because their stores, regular pricing really really stinks----they have to resort to gimmicky $5 GGC to reel people in....

or

i need an awesome football game for GH price. and even though i think madden is alot better, espn is getting close to perfection....

or

play mvp baseball and wait till the 2005 versions come in the summer....shit, that just made sense to me.

choices choices...

If ESPN is close to perfection and Madden is a lot better, then is Madden better than perfect?

I, for one, hate Madden's controls and think Sega makes far superior sports games (except baseball).

you are right, in that, i worded my statement rather amiguously to the point of contradiction. I will not turn this into a debate but just thoughts to refine my earlier statement.
no, just means that madden is pefect blend of gameplay and fun. ESPN has gameplay down, all the nuances are technically close to realism (perfection) on the CONSOLE gaming world. However, madden has that pick up and play feel that allows newbies and intermediate game players (like myself) to put up a decent challenge online to veterans of the game. other people would say that is a flaw of design to let gameplay get involved with realism. In that sense, ESPN is getting close to perfection because it has improved gameplay mechanics to be applied without incurring penalties to its simulation engine, notably catching the frickin ball, in the move from 2k3 to 2k4 among other things. ESPN can replicate a football game much better than madden, and if it can improve its gameplay, then it would be perfect. for that fact, madden is alot better because it is more fun to play with its universalisitc appeal, rather than a hardcore football fan/viewer that probably doesn't know the difference between a LT ability vs. RT, throwing off your backfoot, leading a receiver, etc etc etc

Anyone tried to play this game online with a group of people and having everyone play in FP mode...Im kinda curious on how good it work.
