essay question: is america still imperialistic?

probably. look at the US's economic and political agenda, and see whether its policy in foreign countries has any relation. for example, the US wants to make Iraq a democracy, which would serve the US's self-interest.

high school hiistory essays can hover in the "grey area," meaning they can avoid the question by arguing both sides. so you might argue that the US is still imperialistic (Iraq), but not as much as it was in the past (Phillippines, Haiti, Panama, etc.)

Yes. Research the Wolfowitz Doctrine, current situation in Iraq, etc. The current situation in Iraq can be compared to British rule/occupation in Ireland with the the two different faiths (in this situation Shi'ite and Sunni), etc. Won't go into it as you should do your own work.
 
Even if you write your essay throughly and re-search it, your teacher will probably still find BS reasons to give you a lower or average grade. I hate teachers/professors like that.

They aren't a colony. They get one whole non-voting member in the House of Representatives, don't they? ;)
 
Look at things like spheres of influence, as well.

Being a high school essay though, just use a list thesis and make three strong arguments, that's usually good for an A.
 
India- On television they make fun of there own aceint. during the 1970's and maybe 80's they started to to Americanize and slums formed. They have buildings just like ours. Gandi got shot. They have classes for people to sound more british even if they speak perfect English.

China- throwing out people to make room for new buildings. Also the fa t they do not mess with Western Foreigners.

Jamaica- Back then if you said the word Nigger they would wipe the black off your face. Now the whole island is filled with people lisitening to Rap or Regga that is really Rap. The Slums also grewed over the years. More cultural merging.

Also more recently there is more Russian people in America.

They may as well be a colony. The only thing they're there for is for military power in SE Asia.
