Eternal Sonata PS3 $50.99 @ Amazon.com

Thanks for the heads up, but $50.99 is a little bit high for me when the xbox version is now $20 ish
Does PS3 version has something xbox version doesn't?

Thanks OP! I've wanted this game for over a year now, but just got a 360 and now I want the PS3 version, but for cheap. This is tempting but kinda wanna wait a lil longer for cheaper.

They are nuts for charging full price on a port thats been out another system for over a year, it should be a budget title. Especially coming out at this time of the year. I wish them luck on that. bTW the extra content is nothing special....

I got it on release (with my GS store credit). The PS3 port is very well done and the extras are nice. Only issues are that it's a tad harder, and it takes longer to save a game (partially due to the PS3 manual save takes longer for games).

Those who felt the demo was hard, the full game isn't all that hard, just a little harder than what it was on 360 (360 was too easy).
Price is still high. If you wait till after christmas this will be $30 or less...
Yup. Shame on Namco for charging $60. Same goes to 2K charging $60 for Bioshock on the PS3.

clearly namco thought there is a market for jrpg on ps3 and charge em at full price.

Too bad ps3 won't be getting tales of vesperia anytime soon.

Did anyone else saw the $20.89-$50.98 price tag on Amazon yesterday? I was reading the review on Valkyria Chronicle and there's ES icon on the bottom right, it was showing the price of $20.89-$50.98 (i don't know why and it's not from other sellers either). However, clicking on the link, no where i see $20.98.... Anyhow, i can wait, but thanks for the info gunm.

The IS a market for JRPG's on the PS3: it's those people lucky enough to have a model with PS2 compatibility. :)

Seriously, tho, the JRPG market has become SO STALE because the majority of the "next-gen" JRPG's have little to no gameplay innovations and minimal graphical updates. Hopefully once FFXIII launches, we'll see an industry-wide JRPG evolution.

I dunno, that's a chunk of change for an RPG they decided to give the PS3 a year late. It's kind of a double edged sword. If they see RPGs don't sell on the PS3, they may not give it more, but I just feel dirty buying a year-old port of a game that could be had for much cheaper.

And from what I played in the demo, it was ridiculously easy. I dunno, maybe I play RPGs differently than some, but I destroyed the boar.

Which is why I have yet to buy a console this gen.

lost odyssey, valkyria chronicles, and tales of vesperia have been the only note worthy jrpgs this gen. w/ microsoft already talking of ending the gen, it has been quite stale. then we have square enix throwing all these lackluster rpgs and not having working design anymore; its been bad. i heard eternal sonata was ok, but it suffers from a lot of back tracking.

Had this been released at $40 I would have gotten it at release, but as it is I can wait for the $20 range.

Still, I do want to play it when it hits that point.

It's competing with the reduced price of the 360 version for me, which I won't buy because the PS3 version has extra stuff. I'm over a barrel, but I'm patient! It's going to have to come down to $30 before I bite.

this will be 29.99 before the end of the year, it tanked in sales for ps3.. of course that was expected with its high price point.

Great game though.

Well, they did the same with Bioshock and that offered a lot less extra content.

As someone who played, and enjoyed, the 360 version I can say that the changes made to the PS3 version addressed some of my biggest gripes with the game.

Yeah, but the new characters are a let down.. prince attacks too slow and is weaker than jazz.. and princess's specials are pretty sub par and doesnt compare to viola.. hell claves>serenade

did they remake the endings to bioshock? cause that was my biggest gripe. awesome game, horrid ending.
I'm not saying I don't believe you Ice2Dragon, but do you know how bad it sold on PS3?
vgchartz isnt working right now, for some reason. normally i dont believe them that much, but I believe it was around 6-7k. Take it for what you will, but I expected a lot less than that, they may be higher than what actually sold.

You can get the Japanese numbers reliablly from either Famitsu or Media Create in Japan. RPGs do their best in Japan.
