Is DS software region protected? (Will Polarium and Project Rub play on my American DS hardware?) Thanks for any info
I don't think DS has a region lockout. So you could probably import those and play them on your DS.

Man, that just pisses me off. They get all that great stuff on March 11, and meanwhile, we are stuck with half of it now and we have to wait all the way until March 11 for the rest. Oh, wait a minute...

That's not bad. I think DC still wins launch lineup though. Still we've had the DS since November with half of the lineup and are getting the rest on March 11 plus some other stuff. It's just about the same, no big deal.

I'd agree with the DC launch. Gamecube is a pretty close second, though.

The only thing that struck me on the DS launch titles list was Mr. Driller.
what about super mario bros. and duck hunt
I'm not positive, but I don't think those were launch titles.

I don't see how this is that great of a launch...wasn't the ds problem was that they moved a lot of units at japan's and the us launch, but very few games...not see that much added that would make it a great launch

15 games at launch isn't great?
We got like 6 or 7 games at launch and they get more than double that.

Usually they're the last region to get games. Games tend to come out later in Europe that's what makes it so great.
It's an awesome launch, but I think the DC might be the winner of this one.
Amen, brother. I still look at the Dreamcast launch as the best ever.

I have heard there is a VIP club or something and you use 1000 stars (+129.00) and you get teh DS and Mario 64, Metroid and Wario (Demos on these two) a few weeks before it launches in Europe..

Anyone here about that? I guess its limited to 3000 or something....
Yeah best launch ever with ports with no analog stick and shity games!
Your sig doesn't make any sense. The original quote by Knight makes sense.

hmm, in general there is no such thing as a great launch, there's usually one (possibly 2) money games and the rest a filler until the next set come out, that's when the good shizit comes in.

That being said, the DS Europe launch is pretty damn good, w/ Mario 64, Wario, Project Rub/Feel the Magic, and Mr. Driller.

Project Rub is Feel the Magic.

Polarium is the title previous known as One Line Puzzle.

The former was a launch title here and the latter will be available here by the time of the UK launch. As will every other title on that list.

Speaking of dictionaries, the words 'accept' and 'tolerate' are not identical. Only one can be required under the law. Get used to it because that isn't going to change any century soon.

 Yeah, very helpful to this topic...

On-topic, Not a bad launch, but I think the DC had the best one...

What were some of the Dreamcast launch titles? I remember I bought a bunch of the awesome ones: Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, Ready 2 Rumble, NFL 2k, Virtua Fighter (?Launch?)

The only dumbass is the one that can't spell you're right.

Handhelds are always region free. Can a cartridge even have a region lock?

Why would it be any different for a cartridge than a CD? It's just a tiny bit of software looking for an identifying code. It can be initiated either by the game or the device.

A number of past cartridges had region checking. For instance, the Ayrton Senna Racing game from Sega on the Genesis had it. And of course with cartridges there is always the option of making each regions' games physically incompatible by using a different shell shape or pinout.

The lack of past region coding for previous handhelds is no assurance of it not occurring in the future. The past motivation was that international travellers shouldn't be discouraged from buying new games while out of their native region. The strength of the handheld market has shown that this would only affect a tiny portion of handheld game users. If grey market concern became great enough it would be trivial for a new handheld to implement region restrictions. Most users would never notice.
