Ever dislike a movie that everyone loves?

Yep.

Believe it or not I did not like Anchorman nor Borat. They both tried to much to be funny.

I love Will Ferrell since hes a Trojan, but I just did not like that movie.

Talledega Nights with both Will and Sasha was great

FIGHT ON
Wow, two people in this thread that don't like Goodfellas. I thought N83 was going to win the prize of being the only one to not like his pick with that one.
Goodfellas is surprising to see.

I don't like Kill Bill, and chick flicks. All chick flicks are the SAME. Just replace the guy, and women with two other beautiful people, and change the setting. Bam I've just named every chick flick ever.

I also forgot the Speed sequels. The first one was a good flick, and premise. Then they butchered it with the others.

How anyone can list The Boondock Saints as a favorite is beyond me. Bad acting, bad writing and bad directing all in one steamy pile. I bet the gaffer was incompetent too.

QFT. Overrated to hell.

I can't really think of any mainstream hits that I hated but everyone else loved.

Movies that I loved but everyone else hated, on the other hand, I can think of dozens upon dozens.

Naploeon Dynamite as everyone said. I guess you can also throw Employee of the Month with Dane Cook in there.

Now, Employee of the Month in 2004 where they rob the bank with Matt Dillon in it, I love that movie yet no one I know has heard of it.
Neopleon Dynamite
Harry Poter
Lord of the Rings
Any of those shitty horror movies they seem to mass produce year round now.
I second the "horror movies" i don't like horror movies but it seems "everyone" can't wait for them to come out and to me it just seems like the same movies with a different title.. they are also worse then George lucas when it comes to making sequels..

now movies i like that no one else really liked

Daredevil the director's cut.. give it a watch, its definately better then the theatrical release

Chasing Amy.. probably the most underrated of Smith's movies.

My wife bought me a movie called, "The Groomsmen." She put it in my stocking for Christmas. I was hoping it was a HD movie for my Xbox HD player. I was a little disappointed...strike that, reverse it...I was extremely disappointed. She bought it for me solely on the recomendation of her cousin. Her cousin said it was hilarious. My wife and I sat down to watch it and we were, "That was supposed to be funny? Was she high when she saw this flick?"

I am planning to on wrapping up the movie and regifting it to my wife's cousin.
This is like that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine hates this movie while everyone around her loves it.
Wasn't that movie she saw The English Patient? Didn't she get fired by J. Peterman for not liking the movie?

crappy, crappy movie
Weren't you in it?

I agree, it's overrated. I wouldn't call it crappy though.

When I saw the title, one movie popped into my head....Scarface.

I hate this movie. All my friends think it's the best thing since sliced bread. Now I like Al Pacino as an actor, but he did a horrible job in the movie. And don't even get me started on the accent he chose.

And hell while I'm at it, I'm gonna add to this a band that I hate that seems to get universal love: Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Freebird is nothing special to me.

It's a cliche`d favorite amongst celebrities, so everyone likes it. Meh.
Wasn't that movie she saw The English Patient? Didn't she get fired by J. Peterman for not liking the movie?
Yes she did get fired and then she got it back by experiancing where the movie was shot at .
Edit: From the exact opposite angle, I thought the movie The Day After Tomorrow was highly entertaining in all it's absurdity.
If you like that watch iD4 and it's Pro-American Patriotic Propaganda blowjob.

"Starship Troopers" kinda did that but it was a joke.

Scarface is a terrible, terrible movie, but I enjoy it.

One of those corny movies that aren't good at all, but for some reason they entertain me. Same with The Warriors.

God Talladega Nights was retarded. Rented it a few weeks back. 2 hours of absolute shit. The closest i got to even a slight smirk was when one of the dudes said something about spreading his butthole open. Damn that movie sucked.

Thank You!!
I couldn't agree more!!

There are just so many damn movies that I just don't get at all. How the hell could anybody like anything with Will Ferrel in it? He has got to be the most annoying person to ever exist. As for actual movies:

Scarface
Godfather - basically, gangster and mob flicks don't interest me in the least
The Lord of the Ring films - Peter Jackson needs to get back to films like Dead Alive and Bad Taste
Titanic - one big giant suck fest
Napoleon Dynamite - I don't see the attraction
Spiderman 1/2 - that main character annoys me to no end
I could go on and on, but I won't.

Crash (the new one, not the sex one)

It was a pretentious piece of crap designed to make mainstream society feel better about itself because they weren't as terrible as the people in the movie.
Godfather
The Lord of the Ring films
I agree 100%

I can see Godfather being awesome from the generation it came from, but honestly the trilogy was nothing special when I watched them.

Lord of the Rings trilogy is just terrible, I really don't understand the huge fanbase.

You both are out of your minds.

Some of these choices had me almost throwing shit across my bedroom. I guess that's the point, eh?

Boondock Saints, far and away. I actually somewhat enjoyed it the first time I saw it, almost six years ago. Since then every tasteless college-aged male with even a drop of Irish blood has been frothing at the fucking mouth over this thing, and when I watched it again last summer I wanted to choke myself. Never, and I mean never, should the word "best" be used in conjunction with that mediocre-at-best film.

I hated Chicago. I could feel my blood pressure rising as the movie went on--it got so bad I didn't even sleep that night. I'm getting worked up just thinking about it.

I watched Edward Scissorhands for the first time a few months ago, and wasn't nearly as impressed as I was expected/expecting to be. It was decent, but really nothing special. I could say that about most of Burton's films, really.

Other than that, I just think of the standard crap-fest Hollywood films that I always hear people drooling over. Very few of my friends have respectable taste in any form of media.

EDIT: Didn't see the other thread.

Best (pun intended). Post. EVAR.

I think The Departed is one of, no, it's the worst movie Scorsese has ever made. There's probably a four-hour version of the movie that might be pretty good, but as released, this was inexcusable dreck. The sloppy editing, the ham-handed symbolism, the go-nowhere subplots, a horrible actress, the terrible ad-libbed dialogue, nonsensical shifts in style, ridiculous plot devices, Nicholson's scattershot (if brilliant) acting, etc. I'm embarrassed that Scorsese will win an Oscar for this. I hate consolation awards, anyway. Give the acting award to Jeremy Irons for Dead Ringers, you pussies, don't wait around for Reversal of Fortune!
 Clearly it's time for bed.
I feel ya. It's almost 2 AM. 'Night CAG!

Napoleon Dynamite, Lost in Translation, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and to a point, Brokeback Mountain. I didn't dislike it but I also didn't see what all the awards and attention was about.

Star wars also gets a mention for the same reasons. I didn't dislike it but it's never drawn me in at all-- Saw a few, never bothered with the rest.

There's a lot of others that have huge numbers of fans that I just don't care enough about to watch... most of the movies in this thread, actually, are just ones I've never cared enough about to see.

For "The Departed" all you asswipes watching the American version first and praising it should shut up and watch "Infernal Affairs" now.
"Boondock Saints" I haven't seen but don't get the fapping about it.
Jezzi I wasn't over the moon about "Lost In Translation". Btw I could hear what Bill Murray said to Scarlett's charaxter at the end.

I'm sorry, are you talking about the Departed of Casino? I kind of got lost in the middle there. I mean I swear you said The Departed at the beginning of the post but from what you were saying I thought you meant Casino.
So....are there any musicals you like? Just curious.
Hedwig and the Angry Itch is THE only cool musical EVER!

Anyone else hate Gladiator? Shaking a camera doesn't get me excited...

Well for some reason I cant stand Everybody Loves Raymond, that show just irritates me.

Movie wise, The Lost World and any of the Star Trek Movies.

That book is pure shit, "The Lost World", now "Jurassic Park" is good but I don't like some of the changes they made in the movie.
