I purchased a game a week and a half after it came out for the Xbox 360

I have a pile of GameStop receipts, I look thru them and at the bottom I have a DLC code for a game that I know I purchased week and a half after???

Has this happened to anyone before?

All the time, most recently yesterday. The Gamestop exclusive DLC for L.A Noire, they had stacks of games most of which had the DLC seal on the shrink wrap, then some without. I didn't preorder the game but decided to pick it up yesterday, sure enough without me even asking they picked up the "DLC" copy of the game they had.

No! I preordered PS2 version of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories just for the soundtrack. It said that I was supposed to receive a soundtrack, but never received it on release day. Gamestop changed their minds before the release date/couldn't make the deal go through or something.

I heard some people were able to get left-overs soundtracks from the Wii version preorders. I don't preorder anything at Gamestop unless there is some sort of bonus. I don't really see the point of preordering unless it is for a bonus or you have left-over store credit.

I never preordered a game again until I saw Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon's bonus of a weapons pack and the cheap price of Otomedius Excellent. If I don't get that weapons pack, I'll probably not preorder for an even longer time.

Shoot, my old Gamestop back in Vegas used to give me EVERY pre-order bonus (even if I didn't buy the game) just because I was a really good customer. I was on a first-name basis with the manager there and because he treated me so well I always bought my new games from his store. I miss that store. :whistle2:(

Haven't gotten any DLC codes on the recipt, but when I bought Dark Void for $10 it came with the golden jetpack code inside the box. The game had only been out for a few months though and the code had already expired. Sucked.

For a good amount of pre-orders, gamestop switched to the receipt format that way they can confirm that you actually bought the game. What was happening is that people were putting only the $5 down, getting the vouchers, then canceling the pre-orders. This way, the only way to get it is to actually buy the game after pre-ordering it.

If only they could figure out a way to properly distribute the physical pre-order items. I'm still pissed about pre-ordering my Scribblenauts the day the hat was announced, and then going to pick it up and finding out that the store only got one hat for the 20 pre-orders.

Yeah, I actually didn't even purchase Dissieda 012 from Gamestop (well, I later did), but they gave me the DLC for free when I asked for it. They just printed a receipt for me with a charge of 0.00 with a smile on their face.
